It is possible to find any number of Democrats, liberals, and left-leaning organizations arguing the filibuster must be done away with:

ad nauseam

In fact, the Democrats were making plans to end the filibuster, should they win in 2024

Given this, do you Democrats, liberals and left-leaning types support or oppose the GOP ending the filibuster in early 2025?
Why or why not?

It is unlikely the party out of power would ever vote to eliminate the filibuster. Far more likely , they would filibuster the suggestion.
Sounds like dreaming the impossible dream, to me.

I bet not now. Before they were all for it.

Wait...
The Democrats were only concerned about the political power ending the filibuster would give them?

I don't believe rules votes are open to filibusters.

It is unlikely. Filibuster goes back to the first term a US Senate ever met.

Indeed, Schumer will change his tune as minority leader of the Senate. Look to him to throw any and every monkey wrench he can find to slow the prescess of the Senate.

I've said a few times that after humiliating democrats in the election we should throw them an olive branch and give them two things they were wanting but could never do, ending the filibuster and adding four more seats on the Supreme Court. We need to turn the other cheek and give them what they wanted in the name of uniting the country.

Schumer Begs for Bipartisanship

Now that the Republicans have regained a majority in the US Senate, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is urging them "to embrace bipartisanship. I realize this may be hard after we branded them as racists, misogynists, fascists and Nazis, but I want to remind them that this is what we say about Republicans in every election. It's just a political ploy that didn't work this time. It is not an accurate portrayal of our true feelings about our friends across the aisle."

"Sure, there are some hard-core right-wing senators, but there are many more who helped us ensure that necessary spending was achieved to continue to fund the war in Ukraine, fund the green economy, pay for all the Covid vaccinations, and sustain the transfer payments needed to support those unable or unwilling to support themselves," he pointed out. "Remember, unlike Trump, senators in both the Democratic and Republican Parties depend heavily on corporate donations to fund our reelection campaigns. This shared dependency should enable us to resist any Trump initiatives that would hurt our donors' interests."
Democrat Party strategist Julie Roginsky said "smoothing over the differences between the Parties won't be as simple as Sen. Schumer imagines. Democrats are not the party of common sense. We don't know how to speak to voters. Our 'politically correct' way of thinking makes voters think that we don't even live on the same planet as they do. Whether we are excusing street riots or students trashing a university and preventing other students from learning it's unacceptable. It's not how normal people think and we'll continue to lose unless we change."

Commentary:
Of course Schumer's threats and calls for changing the Filibuster rule, or increasing ther number of SCOTUS judges should be all forgotten. He wants to kiss and make up for all the vitriol, smears and road blocks he's thrown at Republicans, MAGA, and especially Trump.
Indeed, we will be as bipartisan in the Senate as Schumer has been to the minority of the Senate in previous years.

The Republicans should just ask themselves what democrats would do in their shoes?

THEY WOULD END THE FILIBUSTER IN A HEARTBEAT.

Problem solved. First act Day One of the new Congress, end the fillibuster, ram it right down the Left's throats, then pass 10,000 bills and legislative acts asserting MAGA Manifest Destiny.

Oh, Please! Please! Please let us democrats be involved! Can we at least sharpen the pencils??? ✏️

Democrat have a big problem. We should drop the filibuster rule on day one then on day two, change the SCOTUS to ELEVEN members having the two oldest ones retire then adding four new ultra-conservative constitutionalists. Then it would be 8-3 conservative with Sotomayor hanging on for dear life hoping not to make it 9-2.

No, Trump needs to pack the courts first then he can do away with the filibuster.

Democrats love that sort of thing.

You are mixing two subjects together that do not belong together.

Filibuster and gun control.

The Filibuster is used by both sides of an issue they really do not want to vote on.

Gun control is prohibited by constitutional law. Stop with the unconstitutional laws already. "Congress shall make no law" means just that. It's not difficult....not even with the worst hermeneutics of Olde Englishe imaginable. It still means stop with the Federal Firearm control laws already.

It is unlikely. Filibuster goes back to the first term a US Senate ever met.
Prankster Politics

That crook Aaron Burr, as Jefferson's Vice President, started it. So Vice-President Vance can end it the same arbitrary way.

Its real purpose is to humiliate the American people by having their elected representatives act like Animal House fratboys and there's nothing we can do about it.
