Will Obama's poll bounce last?

It doesn't appear that many give Obama much credit for the past few days compared to the past year.

Can't grind up Bin Laden's bones and put them in my car's tank.

I doubt the ride to fame will last. While it's true we got the big cockroach on his watch, except for that the American public will soon come to realize that it was the only thing he's done that was worth a fuck for his entire first (and only) term. Don't believe that will gather enough votes to re-elect this butthead.

:eusa_hand:

He also produced a birth certificate.

Why the hell should this man get any credit at all? He spent years insulting and undermining the very policies that led to the information that ultimately led to Osama's death. Go back and listen to the comments he made. In no uncertain words he said America under Bush was torturing innocent people, and no useful information was being gathered.

This is vindication for the enhanced interrogation techniques that morons on the left screamed were the equivalent of midevil torture. He gave the order, something I truly believe any American president would have done, and now he should get the entire credit?? HELL NO.
The intel was obtained from detainees in Poland and Romania and those facilities were closed by Obama, therefore Bush had the same intel Obama had but was unable to get OBL.

So how do you spin Bush's failure and Obama's success with the exact same intel and military to work with??????

The name of the lead was obtained during Bush years. He didn't pop up until recently via a phone. Bush couldn't force the guy to be sloppy and use an unsecure phone, thats the kind of stuff you just have to wait out, and hope they make a mistake. Its not like Bush had the address of this compound. :cuckoo:
Bush would never have known if the guy used an unsecure phone, which he probably did many times, because he disbanded the CIA unit hunting for Reagan's Freedom Fighter in 2005. If Obama had continued the Bush policy of ignoring OBL he would still be alive today.

CIA Reportedly Disbands Bin Laden Unit

CIA Reportedly Disbands Bin Laden Unit

The Associated Press
Tuesday, July 4, 2006; 11:19 AM

NEW YORK -- A CIA unit that had hunted for Osama bin Laden and his top deputies for a decade has been disbanded, according to a published report.
Citing unnamed intelligence officials, The New York Times reported Tuesday that the unit, known as "Alec Station," was shut down late last year. The decision to close the unit, which predated the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, was first reported Monday by National Public Radio.
The officials told the Times that the change reflects a view that al-Qaida's hierarchy has changed, and terrorist attacks inspired by the group are now being carried out independently of bin Laden and his second-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahiri.
The CIA said hunting bin Laden remains a priority, but resources needed to be directed toward other people and groups likely to initiate new attacks.
"The efforts to find Osama bin Laden are as strong as ever," said CIA spokeswoman Jennifer Millerwise Dyck. "This is an agile agency, and the decision was made to ensure greater reach and focus."
A former CIA official who once led the unit, Michael Scheuer, told the Times that its shutdown was a mistake.
"This will clearly denigrate our operations against al-Qaida," he said. "These days at the agency, bin Laden and al-Qaida appear to be treated merely as first among equals."

Well, you started this thread TODAY:

Will Obama's poll bounce last?

Yes, and in the OP I asked the question, "how long will it last?" Obviously it's too soon to answer this question accurately. Any predictions that are be believed would have to have some reasoning to back them up.

So in light of all the above, what is the significance of the comment "and here we are?"

Yes, Obama got Osama. And yes, that can't be anything but helpful to him in 2012. The big question is, how helpful?

George HW Bush got a huge bounce after liberating Kuwait from Saddam, but lost to Clinton on economic issues. And what's the topic of greatest concern to most voters today? Right, the economy. And let's not forget how Bush Jr. squandered his own approval ratings after their peak following the 9/11 attacks.

Edited. 15 Post Rule on Links.

Economic issues will sink Obama. A trillion dollar stimulus package that did nothing? Come on. He's done.

By asking "how long it will last" you have implied it began.

I report that it never begun.

You claim that it cannot have begun.

Thus, I wonder why we are even discussing the issue: "And Here We Are" discussing the issue.

But the REAL issue is: Are you really this dense?

He'll surely get a bounce from the killing, well he should.

I don't have to spin it, you moron! That bit of intelligence (obtained by methods you dislike) took four years to develop into "actionable intelligence (i.e. intelligence of Bin Laden's whereabouts clear and convincing enough to violate another country's sovereignty to take him out). Bush didn't have the same information Obama had; if he had, he would have done the same, and you damn well know it, so don't be disingenuous. The people responsible for turning those initial leads into actionable, hard intelligence are intelligence professionals, NOT politicians of either administration, and no politician has any control over how long the job takes them. Luck and timing, nothing else, put this decision on Obama's watch. Leave it to you liberal hacks (the biggest critics of our intelligence professionals on the planet, BTW!) to try to spin this for partisan advantage. This is AMERICA'S victory, NOT Obama's, so quit trying to politicize it, especially with all your party of choice has done to undermine the CIA and the rest of our intelligence gathering community. THis is vindication for the very professionals the Left has condemned and scorned for DECADES!

Everyone cares and is delighted to hear our military took out OBL.

But that doesn't change the $14 Trillion debt, unemployment, obama-care abomination, illegal immigration..ect.

All it means is Obama is a horrible President that made one good decision in 3 years in allowing our military to take out OBL.

The "decision" was a no-brainer.

no they actually don't; their air force though more modern, is out numbered 2-1. The ground forces are same 2-1, and Nor Kor has a large stockpile of bio and chem. weapons.

And unlike say Europe, they are big spenders on their Military approx twice what the Eu spends per gdp %, at 2.9%, so they are unlike others tow their weight.

we have approx. 30K men there. And that has been pared down through the decades.

and, so, Nor. korea is not a threat? since when?

We spend 4.7% of our GDP on defense. Let South Korea bring their spending up to that number.

And no, North Korea is not a threat to us.

oh to us, yes, I see. So, lets just pull out of everywhere.....

See, now THAT would be a strawman. You're a learner. A slow learner, but a learner.

That bit of intel was gotten by conventional interrogation methods which only you Sadists dislike. And Bush didn't develop the same info Obama developed because Bush disbanded the CIA's Osama Bin Laden unit in 2005. It's a good thing Obama didn't continue the Bush policy of ignoring OBL or he would still be alive today.

Where's the job's why is food and fuel so expensive why isn't anything being done about the economy. Pretty sure this isn't what Obama had in mind.

What do you think.. are they right? Are people simply to busy trying to stay above water to care or is OBL yesterday's new's and people simply couldn't care less.

President Obama Approval Rating Spikes After Bin Laden Death; Republicans Say Economy More Important - ABC News

Fifty-six percent of Americans now say they approve of Obama's performance in office overall, according to the poll -- nine percentage points higher than an ABC News/Washington Post poll found last month, and the highest rating for Obama since 2009.

Can they ever get anything right?

Are you really this dumb? What does South Korea and Japan have that we don't hmm? Let alone that both are active allies

They're not allies, they're dependents. If they think North Korea is a threat, let them defend themselves.

it's not just about that. it has to do with global influence. much of our power source comes from exactly that type of presence.

that isolationist model is why i think ron paul is naive

It's that kind of thinking, plus the influence of the defense lobby, that is bankrupting us.

there is a middle ground. we can't run around blowing up everything; but we can't be isolationist either.

again, naive to think we retain any type of influence without any presence. the question is to intelligently assess what the presence should be.

It should be a bigger spike than that. and Rasmussen had him ranked higher than Gallup last week.
