Why weren't the Republicans Fighting high Spending 8 Years ago?

No, you are dishonest. The 2009 budget was not passed during Bush's administration nor was it signed off by him. Obama signed it and he didn't have to. He had the political capital and an over 80% approval rating from the American people that he could have rejected that budget and told Congress to go back to the drawing board. Instead he wholeheartedly embraced a $1.75 trillion deficit for 2009.

The president blamed the nation's economic travails on the administration that preceded him and on a nation that lost its bearings. His budget plan projects a federal deficit of $1.75 trillion for 2009, or 12.3% of the gross domestic product, a level not seen since 1942 as the U.S. plunged into World War II.

Wall Street Journal

But would it have been if he could have?

Deficits were in decline in the 2000s until Democrats controlled Congress in 2007.

Same lies and dishonest Heritage Foundation chart I nailed you on in so many other threads I've lost count.

All of Bush's deficits from 2002 to 2007 were over $500 billion yet all of them on your dishonest chart are under $400 billion. The 2008 deficit was $1.43 TRILLION which means Bush kept $1 TRILLION in deficit spending off budget!!!

CON$ pretend to be so stupid as to believe that off budget DEFICIT spending is NOT deficit spending!!! :cuckoo:

The masters of the RNC and DNC appear to be dead set on bankrupting this nation AND breaking the back of the middle class.

Their tax and trade policies insure that that is inevitable.

Both parties are responsible foir this.

For the same reason that the more power republicans have the larger the deficit is...

That answer is that the entire republican political platform is nothing but lies...

Cute. Except that chart does not show the accounting changes made under Obama, not the least of which was putting the wars ON budget, that increased the deficit. It also doesn't show how decreased REVENUES, because of the recession, contribute to the Obama deficts.

You know, the decrease in revenue that couldn't possibly happen because all those Bush tax cuts increase revenue, right?? lol

No, after 2004, deficits steadily declined, until 2008.

Claiming that deficit reduction is running up the deficit for three years in a row before scaling it back at a much slower pace is nothing more than double speak. It's like something Baghdad Bob would say.

No, the deficit was in decline, even after Bush tax cuts were full on.

Tax revenue fell 400 BILLION dollars from 2008 to 2009. That's almost half of the Obama deficit for 2009. That's 400 billion in revenue lost when the Bush tax cuts were in place.

We didn't fight it 8 years ago because it was under Bush, who is white, Republican and from Texas. And we love war, and oil, and he gave us more of both, oh and we dont like gays either, and we hate poor people.

But now, it's done by Obama, who is black, a Muslim and not born here, and we hate people who embody each of those, but especially all 3.

There...................thats what you libs want to hear and believe, right?

I suspect you got a lot of Republicans nodding until the last sentence. Then they suddenly became confused. Well, you did a good job of summing up the State of Texas Republican Party Platform, except you have to add in, "Teach the controversy" and "prayer in public school".

Well, speaking of "teach the controversy" in schools, lets talk about evolution.

Do you think it's possible that in 2003, our electorate was dumb as hell, like most people of all parties when it came to politics in 2003, and really didn't think much more about politics than they did the next American Idol?

And after a horrible run for the GOP in 01-06, and a collapsed economy, and the worst terror attack on US soil ever, etc, etc, etc............that our electorate EVOLVED into being more awake and paid more attention to politics? And in that process they learned "Hey, this overspending stuff is really dangerous" and began to oppose it?

If you are gonna say our population in general is not more politically aware now, on both sides, than they were in 2001-2005, you're simply wrong. Events of the past decade have awakened Americans.

Unfortunately, that awakening also happened under the watch of your savior, Barack Obama, and he's not gonna be able to get away with as much as prior presidents have. I suppose we are only allowed to evolve under Republican presidents, right?

Death panels? Pals around with terrorists? Sarah Palin? Trips that cost 200 million dollars a day. Apologizing to BP. No, the Republicans haven't "evolved".

During the Reagan years the GOP adopted a long term plan to cut taxes without any regard to reducing spending as a cynical vote getting strategy, in other words, to perpetuate the myth of the Free Lunch for as long as they could get away with it.

Remember when Cheney said, deficits don't matter? He meant deficits don't matter POLITICALLY, because the people won't vote you out of office over the deficit, as long you keep the trough full.

President Obama’s bailouts, massive stimulus spending, and other dangerous interventionist policies (some of which began in 2008) have made Americans less economically free. The 2010 Index of Economic Freedom analyzes just how economically “free” a country is, and this year America saw a steep and significant decline, enough to make it drop altogether from the “free” category, the first time this has happened in the 16 years we’ve been publishing these indexes. The United States dropped to “mostly free.” As the Index shows, lack of freedom has a direct, negative effect on job growth. It should be no surprise that President Obama’s policies have taken us down the path to fewer jobs and record deficits.

Death panels are real.

Several people recently died as a result of Brewer's death panel.

Yea, they're real, NOW.

Only Republicans are so heartless they could put together death panels. Look at what they did. They held hostage millions of Americans wanting to cut their unemployment just before Christmas. Kind of tells the whole story.

I love the way Republicans make these "dire" predictions of what Government will do and then once on power, they make sure government does EXACTLY that. "See death panels". "See overspending". "See reconciliation". "See wars".

Republicans have worked overtime to win their "War on the American Middle Class". I wonder what's the "prize"?

The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it.
