FYI:

Face Book's ADU count is still increasing on a quarter over quarter basis, it's just not increasing as fast as it has been in the past.

As of Q2 2018 Facebooks ADU stood at 1.47 Billion (up from 1.449 in Q1 2018), or almost 1/4 of the World's Population are active on Facebook on a daily basis, while AMU stood at 2 Billion or 1/3 of the World's Population are active on Facebook on a monthly basis.

As far as major Security Breaches ("hacked") there have been 2 published major incidents, one this year (that is still ongoing) and 1 in 2013 so I'm not sure where you get "been hacked so many times, it's pathetic", given the number of active users and the size and scope of their application set and infrastructure on Facebook I'd say they've had surprisingly few major security breaches since they launched.

Only use I've ever had for facebook was between 2007 and 2012. We raised tens of millions of dollars in mere weeks any time we felt like it, facebook was a great platform for advertising moneybombs back then. We did 4.2 million in one day alone back in 2007, that was an all-time largest single day record for internet fundraising in political history, at the time.

But alas, I, for one, have no stake in it anymore. Now we're in the education phase, and facebook simply isn't where that's taking place. It can't. It's a controlled environment that eventualy woke up to how people like us were able to use their own platform to raise millions of dollars for political endeavors which facebook didn't agree with. And recent history, predictable as it is, is a firm indicator that it can't happen there.

Censorship actually started happening at facebook back in 2012, except it was only the people who were raising millions of dollars in a technological way that Wired called technically sophisticated trolling. lolol.

Some of the best web developers in modern political activism came out of that era. This was only recently.
