Blacks should start their own businesses like millions of whites and asians and hispanics do. Then they can practice all the affirmative action they want and hire all blacks. Why don't they do that? We all know why. You can't start a business when you can't read or count or even tell time.

The last I checked, no matter what state you work in, you can't discriminate when it comes to hiring employees, thus stipulating that you will only hire blacks is to ensure you will end up in court.
As for black businesses. In the 1920's and 1930's there were actual black towns and businesses that were doing well, even during the depression. However, your good ol' white boys ran rampant through them, burning down their businesses and killing off many of their town folk.

Black businesses can not refuse to hire whites, just as white businesses can not refuse to hire blacks.

The Supreme Court has made it clear that lawful affirmative action in no way permits or requires quotas, reverse discrimination, or favorable treatment of unqualified women and minorities.

There are a couple of things you need to understand about affirmative action.

First, it only applies to companies doing business with the Federal government and the volume of that business must reach a certain level.

Second, there must be a strong reason for developing an affirmative action program. Most company hiring policies forbid discrimination. As long the company follows their polices, their is no need for an affirmative action program.

Lastly, affirmative action programs must apply only to qualified candidates. If a candidate doesn't meet the requirements of the job, then the affirmative action program simply does not apply.

Way back in 2000 there were 800,000 African American businesses generating
$71,200,000,000. That is a drop in the bucket compared to what African Americans spend each year @ 1.2 Trillion dollars! If Blacks could coral that spending power and make it work for them, perhaps that 1/3rd of the Black population languishing in poverty could be reduced.

Probably because they don't understand Affirmative Action. If you're not going business with the federal government it doesn't apply. Affirmative Action programs can not force an employer to hire an unqualified employee. It's illegal.

The idea of Affirmative Action Programs are basically good. The problem occurs with the way they are applied. If two candidates are equally qualified for a job, one male and one female and the company has very few female employees, then the company should give preference to the female employee. The problem occurs when it's brought to management's attention that they have few female employees, and should hire more females even though they aren't as well qualified as the male applicants. When this is brought into the spotlight, management will try to shift the blame to affirmative action.
