Who wants to bet Trump will end up pussing out last minute on the debate with Bernie?

I think he will do it. He can decline and play it off that i doesn't matter. It will make him look just as weak as Hillary if he does though.

What's the point of a debate with Sanders? He's not going to be the nominee

Well...for Trump.....the point is branding and TV ratings. That's his deal.

For Sanders, it's entirely consistent with his campaign. His goal is to move the Democratic Party to the left and get his message out.

Sanders is on his way to be the Nader footnote of the 2016 election. Sad that ideology drives out pragmatism, ideals are great but humans have a way of screwing up.

So there is no real reason to do it as far as this election is concerned

That is correct.....outside of Trump getting some eyeballs on him. That is why I doubt that it will happen. Trump can get eyeballs on him with far less effort.

Yes there is, for both of them, since if they actually come to an arrangement it keeps both of them front and center in the media and leaves the Queen of Corruption sitting on the sidelines fighting for attention; it's what's known as "sucking all the Oxygen out of the room" and both candidates would be smart to follow through on it.

Trump doesn't need it and it won't help Bernie win

No Trump doesn't "need it" and you're right it won't help Bernie win, however it's a rather brilliant way to put Clinton on the media sidelines for a week or two. A Trump/Sanders debate would likely dominate the news cycle for at least a couple of weeks not to mention garnering high ratings.

This is something Trump has shown a particular talent for (denying his opponents media coverage) and since Bernie isn't going to win, he doesn't really have a lot to lose. For Bernie it keeps attention on him and what he thinks is his "great movement", not to mention he gets to crow about how he stood up to the Big Bad Donald while Clinton refused to debate him.
