How about I rewrite the tax burden?

Poor/Lower Middle Class = 0%
Everyone else = 5%

Okay, it's horrible isn't it? The poor people will be able to get out of poverty and hardship now and become middle class, unlike the current tax system which gives any surplus they make back to the government, keeping them poor. In a few years the welfare system could be closed down (as there won't really be any poor people anymore), and the remainder could be helped entirely by private charities instead.

How do you pay for everything? That will not pay the bills.

Not WPA jobs, they didn't really help generate future jobs, except maybe the TVA.

I prefer building a new Hi-Speed Rail system. China has a new 400 km/hr system. Start weaning off oil/gas.

No reason that could not be built with WPA jobs.

But it is, I think, an excellent example of the sorts of things that WPA type jobs ought to be doing.

For your information the people of the USA are still enjoying benefits left over from WPA workers.

People should be made to pay for the government they're getting, when they're getting it.

Tell that to the 50% that don't pay federal income taxes. The rest of us are paying, and quite dearly.

Your income taxes are lower than they've been in 50 years.

As for the 50% not paying any federal income taxes, that is the direct result of profligate REPUBLICAN tax cutting policies. So take it up with the GOP.

Read these right wing posts.

The right wing has ONE idea. Cut taxes. The tax rate is at 15%. The lowest in 60 or 70 years. What are they going to suggest when the tax rate is 3% and ALL our roads are gravel?

Gawd that party is dumb. Seriously disturbed. 2.4 trillion dollar tax cut only a few years ago. Our economy is in the toilet and they think it "worked". They are delusional. What else could it be?

Republicans discovered back in the Reagan era that they could be fiscally irresponsible and the voters wouldn't punish them, in fact,

they found out that simply cutting taxes every time they got a chance, i.e. giving Americans that mythical free lunch,

was a political winner.

The GOP formula has been simple. Run on cutting taxes AND balancing the budget, and then, when you win, conveniently fail to do the latter. Result, the voters get a free lunch, and hey, who doesn't love a free lunch?

No to all tax cuts, I don't want any either. Extend unemployment.

Seems we are on the same page..:clap2:

It's strange that these Repubs working for the wealthiest among us can be so bold. It's simply the trickle down theory all over again. They are wrong to believe the rich will allow any of that extra cash to escape their tight fists.

You misunderstand their posts. They never expect the rich will help the middle class. In fact, they encourage the rich when they DON'T help the middle class.

Republicans are suffering from this delusion that they will one day be rich. All they're doing it protecting their imaginary "wealth".

Remember Sam the plumber, or whatever name he went by? He wanted to protect his "wealth". The fucker didn't have a job.

Republicans don't look at "facts" and then deal with those "facts". Instead, they "imagine" how things should be and then work from there. That's why they fail. Because what they "imagine" is so far from reality.

The classic example is Iraq. Bush was so sure he would be treated as a "hero" and would bring democracy to the middle east. Even today, he feels his failure was because the people of Iraq were ungrateful, not because he is a fool.

This is why all Republican policies have failed for the last ten years. Because they are based in delusion. They even listen to a "news" network who they know lies to them. 200 million lies a day (get it? 200 million?). But they are being told what they want to hear so they keep listening.

The Cons are saying that the tax cuts will help small business. Posters here hardly have a say in policy. They get their talking points from above. Limbaugh, Beck, Palin, you know party leadership..

ARRRGHH!!

Its a tie so far. NO TAX CUTS or ALL GET TAX CUTS

IMHO the all get tax cuts is insane. The bottom 75% of incomes pay nearly no income tax, so cutting their "taxes" is a "net-zero", sounds good but its a null set. Nada dollars. No money. Maybe a pizza or two (and they're happy)
Then the top 25% get a bonanza to move more jobs overseas.

I still like the no tax extension idea, I'd even throw in a 6-month extension of unemployment since those folks need help, if that gets the votes.

I'm all for cutting spending as well, I like the Deficit Commission ideas, "its something" as opposed to doing nothing.

Your math sucks.

The cost or loss of revenue for the middle class cut equals over 2 trillion closer to three.

Give up the fantasy of net zero.

The argument is over staying where we are.

It's hard to count it as a loss if you never had it coming to you in the first place.

The Dems claim that they're losing 4 trillion by keeping the tax-cuts in place. No they aren't. They're counting something that they never had as a loss. Besides...they'll just raise our consumption taxes elsewhere anyway so they'll get us regardless in the end.

Cutting spending is the key. And like CG said...they need to apply the same rules to themselves that they impose on the rest of us.

Normal Americans think of "Small Business" as a dozen employees. A hundred at the most. Cons think of "small business" as 20 billion in revenue.

That "reasoning", if you can call it that, is so dumb. It's like a "paycheck". People figure out their family finances based on money they expect to receive. Because they got fired doesn't mean they no longer need that money. That is your reasoning.

Does everything have to be explained?

Maybe you need to be reminded it wasnt that long ago the offical dem position was small business does not create jobs. Of course they reversed themselves when the public took them to task.

Maintain the current tax levels.
Cut spending across the board. Real cuts, not the reduce the rate of growth crap. 10% cuts per budget cycle would be a minimal start.

It would take 14 years to get to a balanced budget and another $8 trillion would be added to the 13 trillion national debt that exists making it around 21 trillion or more, if we only reduced our budget by 10% a year....and did not raise taxes. the annual interest payment on the national debt would rise to $700 BILLION a year, while we only collect with the current tax structure, about a trillion in income taxes in one year....leaving us with 300 billion to spend on national defense, which is running currently, in total, around $710 billion a year.....

and this would not even address trying to pay the debt that was caused in our lifetime, down.

We are in big trouble, big big big trouble.

And without CUTTING SPENDING DRASTICALLY, and raising taxes, and a heck of a good economy, we will never get out of this mess imho...

Official Dem position? Prove it.

The problem with the right wing is they are so easily led by some odious news organization such as Fox, they believe in such nonsense as "Noah's Ark" and a 200 million dollar a day trip overseas, add in the lack of any understanding of the real world, they will repeat some nonsense they heard repeated somewhere and since it fits into their delusional picture of reality, they will repeat it as if it's the obvious truth.

Small business does not create jobs? And some tard has the nerve to suggest that is the "official Democratic position".

Oh you people. What is wrong with you? Do you drool? Do you soil yourself when you sleep at night? No wonder you believe Obama is the "anti-Christ".

By that logic you are saying that you get your talking points from above. Obama, Maddow, Soros, etc.

No to all except no Tax Cuts. The only reason I oppose tax cuts is because it's less money to pay off the debt, but this is only if the money actually goes to the debt, which it won't if I am told correctly.

To be honest, I think tax cuts are not a worry, a worry is the trillions the US owes in debts, and how no one really is attempting to pay it off. We are all going to suffer, have it harder, if we want to pay off the debt, but those that need to see what a real "HARD" life is, is the ones who have allowed this to happen. Aka, The Government.
