I don't think I have ever seen so much staff at once in one thread! What amazes me is that every one of you are attempting to help someone out and giving advice that will keep them from getting banned rather than simply pulling out the BAN and using it.

This makes it clear that the site isn't what this person has tried to make it into. It seems that they are attempting to get banned so that they can return to the DU and proudly proclaim that they too have been banned from the Big, Bad, Conservative site!

Being honest about how you treat others will help you out, Gabs. It is easy to complain about being disrespected, but much more difficult to give it some introspection and see the VOICE you post in and realize that it is the ENTIRE reason people are not respecting you. It isn't your opinion as evidenced by other Liberals that have high rep points on the site. Don't fall for your own hype, listen. We may have things to learn from each other, but respect is something earned on this site, not given as a matter of course regardless of action.

The main difference between DU and us is that we use our intelligence and reasoning when it comes to things. DU reads something - they disagree and ban - primarily because they don't want to answer the logical questions that they know we will ask. They know they don't know what to do when we make sense.

Now us, we want to show the "lost" the errors of their ways. Try to persuade them and show them the fallicies of their logic. We have tolerance for their retoric, because we know that they are simply brainwashed and being the kind souls that we are, want to do something to help them.

Frankly, I don't see what the big deal is. Gabby has liberal views, as do a few others around here. So what? Debate with her. Defend your viewpoints. When we (collectively) start screeching GO BACK TO DU every time a moderate or liberal shows up here, then what has this board become? I, for one, did not sign up here so I could listen to 500 conservatives agreeing; if I had, I would have gone to Free Republic. This is supposed to be a place where all viewpoints are welcome, not a place where the overwhelming conservative majority yells at the top of its lungs until the dissenters leave (or are banned). If you can't defend your political viewpoints, then why are you complaining about people that you disagree with?

I think she has no intention of having reasonable discussions, but rather is only interested in dazzling us with (what she perceives is her great intellect) and when that falls flat, she insults and moves on to another posting. My advice is ignore her, she is just looking for attention.

A thesis on Conservatives. We have read several of those "thesis" from Berkely before. Like the one that said that conservatives were the most successful tyrants but ignored Stalin, Mao, Hitler (actually it called him Conservative even though much of his platform was Socialist), and other of the largest killers in history that were clearly not from the Right of the political perspective.

USMB is not entirely dissimilar from Democraticunderground.com. Darin said Gabriella was banned because people [USMB conservatives] thought she was a troll [because she came out firing just as hard as the right-leaning hard liners] and was banned [despite posting in a manner closely akin to many on the other side of the political spectrum].

I said "two wrongs" because the "but the DU does it too!" argument really doesn't solve the problem. The USMB is entirely too lax with rule-enforcement among conservatives, and gives the shortest of chains to far-leftists, despite far-rightists thriving. Just like any other forum, the USMB needs balance, balance which it lacks right now.

I think people thought Gabrielle is/was a troll because of her posts. She came here posting far flung, conspiracy theory crap, claims she doesn't care about negative rep despite several posts and a thread about it, and constantly goes into threads and posts things that are off topic just to Bush bash. Does that not sound like a troll?

While I'm at it, I believe that is site is dissimilar from DU. If it weren't, why would you still be here after your last few posts in this thread? You aren't banned, are you? You know good and well that there have been Conservatives that received the same temporary ban from this board that you did. The difference is, they don't come back bitching and whining about it months later.

Yeah, this board is largely Conservative, but for every board like this there are three that are to the left. I have come across very few that are literally balanced.
