When did the GOP

become this group that has contempt for people who work?

I don't remember them being like that. I remember them as the smart/money guys... the ones who kept the 'good-hearted' dems in check and ended up with a balance between the heart and the pocketbook.

I'm flabbergasted that a political candidate can pretend that anyone who doesn't vote for him doesn't pay taxes.

I know i pay a way greater percentage of my income in taxes than mittens.

funny that.

The GOP used to be about fiscal responsibility. Yes, they have always sponsored the idea of smaller government, and in doing so, they have usually held those with more liberal views somewhat in check. Over the last decade however, they have just become the party of protecting the top money earners, regardless of the cost to the deficit. Fiscal responsibility doesn't matter anymore; it's just about cutting taxes. Someone else can pay for it later down the road. Of course, any spending, whether good or bad, is the enemy; paying for things is never the problem. And yes, if it came down to it, they would throw granny out on the street if it would keep them from having to pay any taxes.

i really am flabbergasted.

i think romney's got a huge problem going forward.

I am so sick of hearing Republicans throw out that "47% don't pay any taxes" bullshit. Dems need to jump on that and let the truth be known. I love how cons never ever talk about the fact that they pay so much less as a percentage of income at the state level compared to the lowest income earners who pay the most, but they continue to throw out the stupid crap about 47% not paying any taxes, when in fact they do pay payroll taxes which actually total more than Mitt payed.

Obama needs to bring this up and throw right back at Romney. I hope this comes up in the debates.

oh jilly, you get more shrill each day you see Obama losing

we can pretend that's true steffie...

nah...i prefer reality.

You know nothing about reality. Every time you get refuted you pretend not to see it and are too lazy to read what's presented. Then you resort back to your snarky, snippy ignorant self.

I live in New York where this experiment is waaaaaaaaaaay ahead of schedule. Fucking place becomes more of a snake pit by the day. If this guy gets reelected, the day after, I'll be heading to my local Dicks Sporting Goods store, and not to purchase a pair of running shoes.

Indeed because it needs to be told. Half the fucking country is welching off the other half. Obama coulkdnt give a rats ass about 45% of the country and Obama couldnt give a rats ass about the other 45%. Its called being real. The middle 10% will decide if they want America to be America or an emerging Third World Nation.:D:D

Im betting on that most Americans still have character and dont want the government running their whole life.:2up:

Never, you are wrong, end of thread.

I'm flabbergasted that a political candidate can pretend that anyone who doesn't vote for him doesn't pay taxes.

He doesn't, he's generalizing, people do it all the time. Of course not ALL of the 47% don't work, not ALL of the 47% will be voting for Obama. But of course you know that, and you can't make a partisan hack thread while taking common sense things like that into concideration.

Why is it that? Do you know?

if you want that discussion, try starting your 250th thread. this one is dealing with mitten's and the GOP lie that the people who don't pay taxes vote democratic.

so why don't *you*, address the fact that red states get more in federal funding than they pay in.

we'lll wait.

47% don't pay Federal income taxes. He might have a point about that group voting Democratic. I can't imagine someone who pays no federal income taxes wanting to vote for a Republican. That would go contrary to simple logic. However, I haven't seen any data to back up that claim.

but that would include people who pay other types of taxes...

it would include the disabled...

it would include all those red state white single mothers who religiously vote GOP...

THAT'S the point...

it isn't people like me, like Article... like my husband who works his butt off...

all i can say is the thing about mittens is he's so unskilled a politician that he actually sometimes says what he thinks.

Of course people pay other types of taxes. You can't get away from paying taxes.

Yes, that might include the disabled. I have not seen any statistics which show that 'red state white single mothers' religiously vote GOP. Do you have a link for that?

What's the point? I don't see that you've made a point.

So you want Romney to be a skilled politician? What does that even mean?

Republican tax policy created the 47%. That number is that high because of all the GOP tax cuts over the years.

Oh, and Romney is just verifying something I said in the past. The only reason the Republicans ever cut taxes for lower income Americans is because it was the only way, politically, they could get what they really wanted,

which were relatively huge tax cuts for upper income Americans.

As Romney on the tape proves, their lot HATE the fact that lower income Americans got tax cuts.

See this is what she does every day and every time she's cornered.

Back up what you say or STFU! Pretty simple even for a simpleton like you. Lawyer my ass! You're too stupid!

P.S. Do you have any proof they vote Republican? You're one dumb fuck!

The first problem is that number is false. This statistic only applied to one year (2009) when unemployment hit its highest point and Congress did a lot of tax breaks to jump start it, like the Making Work Pay credit and not taxing unemployment benefits.

Second, the reason why so many end up paying no income tax is not because the money isn't taken from them (which it is) but because after they take all their deductions on Schedule A and form 1040, they end up getting most of that money back.

Third, these folks to play plenty of taxes- Social Security, Medicare, State Income Taxes, property taxes, Sales taxes. And these taxes have a greater impact on working folks than higher marginal rates do on the rich.

All things considered, I paid more in taxes as a percentage on my five figure salary than Mittens did on his 8 figure salary...

Words just can't express how badly Mitt has screwed this up, or how callow this statement sounds to most people.

I thought the idiotic statement last week about the dead ambassador was when he lost the election. Nope. I think this is.

First, it is the most accurate number with the data available. Recent speculation based on other data shows that it is still accurate and perhaps has even increased.

Second, it doesn't matter. Just stick with the statistic. Is it true or false? That's all that matters.

Third, of course people pay plenty of taxes. There's a tax for just about everything. You can't walk down the street today without getting taxes.
