What made Republicans distrust science and announce that science is a "faith"?

Just read this and other science threads. They write, fuck the planet, fuck their grand kids and their grand kid's grand kids.

The Rs want votes and these are the people who will vote for them.

What made Republicans distrust science and announce that science is a "faith"?

Remember, Republicans started NASA.

What changed?

You almost gotta laugh that the THEORY of global warming is based on faith. Look at it rationally when warmers expect their followers to disregard what their senses tell them when it's freaking cold and snows in May but to accept the savior, Al Gore's claim that it's really warm when it feels cold. Warmers don't even bother to argue, they just call the people who disagree with them "deniers".

This is what Republicans do. Make up some strange point no one ever said and then shoot it down. Then they say to no one in particular, "Nailed it" and strut walk away feeling they "proved their point". We saw Bush do it time and again.

Scientist have actually said the weather would become more extreme and the over all temperature of the world would rise. And we know it to be true. We know it from Data and study. But you don't get data and study from people who believe that trickle down is a real economic policy. People who think education is for snobs. People who think American helping American is (gasp) "socialism".

Pop "scientist" Carl Sagan said that the world would undergo a nuclear winter if Saddam lit off the oil fields in the 1st Gulf War.

No he did not.

Whitehall said:
"Scientists" are guilty of introducing invasive species all over the world.

Merchant Marines and animal and plant hobbyists have done more to introduce invasive species that any other groups.

They introduced the "cane toad" to Australia in the 40's to combat some insect infestation and the toads ate everything else and their venom killed domestic species.

Merchant Marines introduced Zebra mussels (which have been very destructive and expensive to deal with) while hobbyists have introduced deadly pythons into Florida's ecosystems, and one English couple introduced the English sparrow into North America, where it is now the most common bird here. Kudzu was introduced from Japan into the United States at the Japanese pavilion in the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. It is the most destructive plant on the continent.

What a shame the beat no longer goes on for the Late Mr. Bono. He hit his head on a tree, and made himself extinct.

Not that any of your rant has to do with anything.

Pop "scientist" Carl Sagan said that the world would undergo a nuclear winter if Saddam lit off the oil fields in the 1st Gulf War. Saddam did and the fires lasted about six months and the world barely burped. "Scientists" are guilty of introducing invasive species all over the world. They introduced the "cane toad" to Australia in the 40's to combat some insect infestation and the toads ate everything else and their venom killed domestic species. Even when the "scientists" realized their little experiment didn't work they failed to eradicate their mistake until the toads bred and spread. The "jumping carp" were introduced to combat some sort of perceived pollution and look at them now. Government scientists created LSD and experimented on unknowing Soldiers and.... to quote the late congressman Sonny Bono, "the beat goes on".

You can hardly compare scientists from 1930's to scientists of today. Besides, those cane toads worked great in Hawaii protecting sugar cane crops. I suspect that at that time, the idea of introducing species into an ecosystem was a "new science". Not much was known about it.

Remember, in the 1930's, most of the world didn't believe in evolution. Now, those that don't believe are mostly Muslims and Republicans. In the 30's, there were no commuter jets. Now there are rovers on Mars.

Not just the world is different, but the understanding of the world is different and you can thanks scientists for that. For the last 40 years, what can you thank Republicans for?

Another Dean Thread from the corners of his demented mind.

I love science. I remember when Bill Clinton killed the Superconducting Supercolloider. I remember when Obama killed the US manned space Program. I remember when Democrats derided Reagan's space based Missile defense.

Remember when Einstein said "We have Consensus" about any of his theories? Yeah, me neither. I don't believe in ManMade Global Climate Change Disruption Discombobulation.

Consensus is not science, you're thinking of Project Runway

we couldn't afford the SSC & the Shuttle was/is a relic developed 30+ yrs ago. Anything else/

Sagan was a rock star in the pop-science world. He made a lot of claims up to the early 90's that didn't pan out. The dirty little secret was that he made a pretty good living while disregarding real research in favor of popular opinion. Global warming isn't much different. When lavish grants are issued by the government you can expect the expected conclusion.

"Lavish grants"???? WTF are you talking about? Lavish grants???? That's a joke right?

When Republicans say "Documented Truth", it's usually followed by a knee slap. Remember, they believe the Bible is "Documented Truth".

Are you trying to say that there are NO religious Democrats?....Everyone is a fucking ATHEIST?

Democrats are a coalition party. There are even a few Conservatives. Republicans have zero liberals.

If I knew for sure there was a GOD, I'd thank him for that small favor!:eusa_clap:

And they've lost nearly all of their 'moderates'.

Consider the case of Phil Jones, the director of the CRU and the man at the heart of climategate. According to one of the documents hacked from his center, between 2000 and 2006 Mr. Jones was the recipient (or co-recipient) of some $19 million worth of research grants, a sixfold increase over what he'd been awarded in the 1990s.
Why did the money pour in so quickly? Because the climate alarm kept ringing so loudly: The louder the alarm, the greater the sums. And who better to ring it than people like Mr. Jones, one of its likeliest beneficiaries?
Thus, the European Commission's most recent appropriation for climate research comes to nearly $3 billion, and that's not counting funds from the EU's member governments. In the U.S., the House intends to spend $1.3 billion on NASA's climate efforts, $400 million on NOAA's, and another $300 million for the National Science Foundation. The states also have a piece of the action, with California—apparently not feeling bankrupt enough—devoting $600 million to their own climate initiative. In Australia, alarmists have their own Department of Climate Change at their funding disposal.
And all this is only a fraction of the $94 billion that HSBC Bank estimates has been spent globally this year on what it calls "green stimulus"—largely ethanol and other alternative energy schemes—of the kind from which Al Gore and his partners at Kleiner Perkins hope to profit handsomely.

Scuse me, I have to go look at the news. Seems there are fire tornadoes in California, it snowed last week in Illinois, tornadoes in the mid west and ankle deep seawater in downtown Miami. Since this stuff never happened this early, this late, or ever, it makes interesting reading.

the left turned science into a religion and started to use it as a political club......remember, anthropological global warming?.......
