If they ask us to leave we will. We will not have a choice. Maintaining a presence in the regions of the world is what has kept you free. Evil must be confronted...and even with our technology we cannot be everywhere at once.
Without our presence in many of these places the regions would destabilize.
Our being there keeps the wolves from the door.
Isolationism like you suggest is the fastest way to plunge us either into a World War or into one war after another.
"Invaded a Soveriegn Nation" For very good reasons. Most of the Dems in Congress voted to authorize this action and then smelled the chance for political gain and spent the following years fighting for the enemy.
Al-queda had been decimated. Not Strengthened. They have all but given up in Iraq. The people Of Iraq have decided that they want these terrorists dead. We could have accomplished this sooner if Liberal like you and the ones in DC had not been cheering and fighting for the enemy.
"Hated Around the World"? As long as we are successful we will have those who do not like us. If being liked means being a Poor, weak nation then I say that they can hate us forever. I really do not care.
...
I think George W. Bush said it best when he was still running for President in a debate with Al Gore. "If we're an arrogant nation they'll resent us. If we're a humble nation, but strong, they'll welcome us." Unfortunately, he spurned his own advice, and we know where we stand now. We are a poor country, in case you've missed the financial crisis. I would also say our perceived strength is an illusion that is going to come crashing down around us in the months and years to come. Despite these facts, we're still disliked around the world.
With the implosion of economies all over the world. It has become clear that several weeks ago after the so called " bailout" that this crisis will NOT be diverted by "betting" on the good will of lenders to free up credit. The even bigger question is and I submit that the American system of govt. changed as we knew it that day. We are now oficially a socialist society, no matter who you vote for. The govt. has back-stopped the auto industry, the airline industry, and is now talking about nationalizing some banks. So you want free health care, I say whats the arguement about? You don't live in a non socialist society anymore, you want a free house, why not? Let the govt. buy it for you. The real issue here is even if it is McCain or Obama, they both will NOT change the direction that this country has now decided to go. With McCain proposing a 350 billion dollar home mortgage buy back and Obama's healthcare. The degree of seperation between the two is so small you need a crowbar to pry them apart.
Im not an advocate of socialism. but would it really be that bad? In Europe they have socialism and their economy is doing well. the British pound and euro are some of the strongest currencies in the world. the people have free health care and university is affordable. and at the same time they still have democratic elections and other democratic processes.
you need to get that free health care crap outta your head. In case your mama never told you this nothing in life is free. You have to pay for "free health care" and then what you get is a chance to stand in line waiting for treatment that may never come.
Obama wants free healthcare, when did he say that, I know he wants to reduce premiums and make sure its still pretax(unlike Mccain). Didnt know he was giving it away for free.

you did see that I was quoting Nia doncha? She thinks she is getting free health care. Nothing is free but Obama is corrupt.

I know quite a few people who live in countries that have socialized healthcare. Yes, they get taxed for it, but they are very happy with it. There is not one country that has socialized health care and has any serious popular sentiment for changing it.
Nor are there any mass migrations of forgein medical professionals from these countries to the U.S. There may be many forgeiners who start their careers here, but almost none that are running here to get away from the socialist healthcare systems.
What's more is: These countries have overwhelmingly better quality of healthcare.
For that reason alone I support socialized Healthcare - because the quality of Healthcare in this country SUCKS!
Maybe a few years of socialism would straighten the healthcare system out and then it could be desocialized and just regulated.. Since it would be nice if the free market actually worked.
You're either a biased clown or an uninformed clown, and this has got to be the most retarded argument for universal healthcare ever. Because of the company i work for, i'd bet i know a lot more people who live in socialized countries than you do ( especially England ) and they tell me the exact opposite of what you are stating. I also live near and know people that work at Johns Hopkins. From what they have told me and from what i have witnessed personally, people come in from all over the world to get medical treatment there.
People come from all over the world to go to Hopkins because they have some of the worlds best doctors and they do some of the worlds most groundbreaking procedures.

George W Bush has been the biggest Socialist in the white house since LBJ.
$40 billion a year for the medicare drug plan thanks to him and the GOP congress, after they threw their expensive attempt at social engineering, No Child Left Behind, at us. 61% increase in Fed spending compared to just 30% over Clinton's 8 years, 30% of new jobs in gov't sector under Bush, just 8% under Clinton.
Wake up Republicans, Reagan's long gone and has been replaced by the worst Socialists of all, those who tell you they love limited gov't, while they practice a hatred for it.
unfortunately, ron paul isn't on the ticket.
