We need government job training programs.

"Too many have been on the gravy train for far too long without any real requirements and limits."

You must be talking about politicians moreover those who decided "shop till
you drop" would be the primary USA industry. Yet the dumb brains behind that project didn't think about keeping amercans employed to make that work.... can we say incompetent?

Once again which duets put tons and tons and tons of out of work? Think Reagan/Bush and Bush/Cheney.

There have been plenty of news stories showing America is not broke not by a long shot. Take a look at:

* CEO pay packages
* CEO golden parachutes
* Shareholder sweet dividends
* Corp jets

* Constant supply of corrupt special interest campaign cash

* In the news - The medical insurance industry was spending $1.4 million a day to keep single payer insurance off the table and that money was being laundered through the US Chamber of Commerce

* CIGNA CEO walks away with $73 million retirement bonus

* Wall Street Banks handing out big buck bonus money
And this has what to do with anything?

The RINO dominated repub party have demonstrated too many times they are not the economic giants of our time. Wreckanomics is their clearly demonstrated forte'.

So by allowing corporations to set their own executive pay packages, the GOP has wrecked the economy?

O-kay ...

WE NEED GOVERNMENT JOB TRAINING PROGRAMS.
To get us out of this recession. Many of our children choose not to go to college and we need to provide Government training programs for them while they are in high school.
We had a program called CETA and Job Corp that allow children to get their GED and train for a job. We need to train welfare mothers and provide baby sitting jobs who working can be more lucrative than collecting welfare. WPA got us out of the depression and deporting those here illegally released jobs for unskilled Americans. Now it will release many skilled jobs for Americans. Billions earns here sent back to Mexico going into Mexico economy do not help our economy. Money earned here should be spent here making our economy stronger.
Welfare reform must include Government job training program. Not just cutting benefits

“Pluck the rafter out of our own eye before you can see to pluck the straw out of the eyes of other countries.”
NO more government interference in the private sector. No more funding non-existent jobs programs.
The best way to encourage business expansion and creation is for government to get the hell off the backs of business, especially small business.
But then again, if you are so committed to this new tax, go ahead and write a check.

Republicans would sooner throw the money in a fire and roast marshmallows than invest in our workforce or infrastructure or education or anything that might help out a worthless, lazy, scum of the earth American working man.
.
I am a working man and you and I are diametrically opposed in so many ways I wonder where it is you were raised.
Why is it that every single proposal you people on the left come up with involves government and new taxes?

I am a victim of the CETA program. You bet. After receiving Vo-Tech Horticultural Technology training I became employed with the Tulsa Park Department under the CETA program. Then to make myself more employable I enhanced my credentials in the area of Horticulture through Tulsa Junior College. City of Tulsa offered financial assistance with the college program from which I graduated.

Ultimately a self employed operation bloomed from the seeds of a CETA opportunity which makes me a victim of a successful program = CETA paid off big!!!

Bring it back and Bring it on!!!

This concept could start by starting the interstate highway rehab program that could go on for years.

The government owns the highway system so we taxpayers may as well take care of it and keep it safe as possible. Does
not pay not to take care of taxpayer owned property.
Thats easy. All state government as well as the federal government can stop robbing highway tax dollars and spending the money on other things.
We already pay more than enough to fund highway and infrastructure projects.
Instead the hundreds of billions of dollars collected in the form of fuel taxes is taken and spent on stupid shit like tea pot museums and studies to see why wild turkeys like to hang around airport runways.
Here in North Carolina we just got another 6 cents per gallon fuel tax increase. That is because there is a state law that calculates the tax based on the retail price. We now pay 40.5 cents per gallon. And ya know what? The fucking governor tells us there's no money for much needed road projects. \
Same goes for the federal dollars. BTW the federal government does little in comparison to the states when in road funding.
So really..You can pay for your schemes. Write a God damned check.

Do Bush tax cuts pay back? No they don't

Do tax cuts create new jobs in the USA? No they don't

Bush tax cuts cost taxpayers money because big bucks need to be borrowed to cover the cost of tax cuts.

Bush tax cuts are costing the 99% money which we 99% want back from the high rollin tax dollar moochers. And we want those tax dollars spent on money making USA ventures..... can we say jobs for Americans!

Meanwhile:

Still A Bad Idea – Bush Tax Cuts - The ENTITLEMENT program for the wealthy at the expense of the middle class = duped one more time.
Still a Bad Idea | Dollars & Sense

In the end big debt and super duper bailouts were the results which does not seem to bother Republicans, as long as they are in power.

In fact, by the time the second Bush left office, the national debt had grown to $12.1 trillion:

* Over half of that amount had been created by Bush’s tax cuts for the very wealthy.

* Another 30% of the national debt had been created by the tax cuts for the wealthy under Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

• Fully 81% of the national debt was created by just these three Republican Presidents.

WPA got us out of the depression

No, it didn't.

Damn sure helped...

Just like the highway work would do.

Create jobs that cannot be outsourced and cut off all government handouts to USA companies that have shifted manufacturing abroad. On second though just cut off government handouts to corporate USA today! Then direct corporate america to the
Free Market approach with a swift kick in the butt.

Actually no it didn't ....The Great Depression did not end until well after the completion of WW II....The economy did not start appreciably growing until the early 50's.
The WPA did put people to work on government "make work" projects. These were temporary jobs. They cost a lot of money and because of the depression there was little revenue to fund them. Government went into debt even further.
No denying it was a great idea to find temporary work for the unemployed.
IN those times, men were happy to get the jobs. Today's entitled welfare baby makers and stay at home sleep until 3pm and wait for my check types would tell the government to go fuck themselves if they were told they had to take a job to get their check.
And of course some group of douche bag liberal plaintiff's attorneys would swoop in with a pile of lawsuits to prevent it from ever happening.

Tax dollars invested in jobs = tax dollars well spent.

The rest of your post is nonsense. RINO talking points generally come without foundation.

You don't read well. It does demonstrate that amercan industry is not broke.

How did the GOP wreck the economy?

1. The Reagan/Bush Savings and Loan Heist aka home loan scandal sent the economy out the window costing taxpayers many many $$ trillions (Cost taxpayers $1.4 trillion), Plus millions of jobs, loss of retirement plans and loss of medical insurance.
The Bush family and the S&L (Savings and Loan) Scandal

2. Bush/Cheney Home Loan Wall Street Bank Fraud cost consumers $ trillions, millions of jobs, loss of retirement plans and loss of medical insurance. Exactly like the Reagan/Bush home loan scam. Déjà vu can we say. Yep seems to be a pattern.
What is the difference between a Ponzi scheme and a housing bubble? | Dollars & Sense

3. Bush/Cheney implied more than ONLY 3 financial institutions instead of several were at risk so why $700 billion in bail out money? One of the biggest lies perpetrated to American citizens. Where did this money go? Why were some banks forced to take bail out money?

You're going to have to do a lot better than a blog on Tripod (I didn't know they even still existed) and a couple of left-wing outlets to gain any traction with most of the people on this board.

Try this: Describe in one sentence what should be done to fix the economy.

Oh no! That would be "socialism". It's bad, it's bad, RUUUUUUUUN!

Here is a clue for you. Were living in socialism. The problems we have with people not having money or work will only increase the more we accept socialism. Freedom and free markets are the answer, not more 'gubmit' hand outs.

Responded like a true jackbooted goosestepper... congratulations.

Calm yourself, retard.

Why are Unions against working people?

They aren't... Only on the Rush Slimebaugh show and FOXNews are they doing any such thing. In the real world? They are the ONLY entities looking out for the working class. No one else gives a shit. That's why Union members pay their dues, that's why they VOLUNTARILY give to the PAC's that Unions support. If it weren't for them, there would only be corporate lobbyists and no one lobbying for the working people of this country.

Like I said in another thread... Most of you righties have no problem with freedom of speech...and feel that money=Speech...when it comes to the Corporatism that has pervaded this country. But let the little guy speak up, and you want them destroyed.... it's called brainwashing of the weak minded(you) by people who don't want to give up power and control(the Corporatists).
Oh please....First off union bosses take dues money and send it democrat candidates, democrat PAC's and the DNC. Unions have been in the back pockets of pro labor liberals for decades.
Next....now here is a Newsflash for you. Despite the large contributions of labor money to libs and democrats, the labor movement in the US has shrunk to the point of insignificance.
How much influence can unions have if they make up just 7% of the nation's workforce?
BTW, most union members are NOT the little guy. Anyone who can make over $30 per hour to sweep floors and haul trash, live comfortably in one the most expensive suburban areas of the country is NOT the little guy.
That's right....I have a high school class mate who I grew up with who is in the Laborer's Union ( don't know the local) in New York City....When I last spoke to him he was making over $30 per hour....plus benefits...So please don't tell me those people, union people who are sheltered from any sense of competition for jobs and earnings are the little guy.
Union people don't function in the real world.
The little guy is the person that makes under $10 an hour working in a convenience store or the guy that struggles to make ends meet fighting the tide of government horseshit while he is trying to make his small business successful without going broke.
The little guy of the past was the nut and bolt salesman who lived in Astoria ,Queens and his building was a 4 story walk-up and his only "yard" was the stoop in front of the building...And maybe he had a balcony in his apartment..THAT is the little guy.

With regards to union's supporting democrats, so fucking what. Does not the union have the right to lobby the government the same as corporate power?

The rest of your post I agree with.

Been there done that. Same ole same ole. We need sweeping revolutionary Welfare Reform. Too many have been on the gravy train for far too long without any real requirements and limits. 'Job Training Programs' are not the answer. They've been tried for many years. Doing the same thing over & over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. We need new tougher requirements and limits. We can no longer sustain generational and permanent Welfare recipients. That day is now over. We're broke. Time for real change in the system.

What would really have to happen is that we need to change the minds of the useless who find working for a living a form of slavery. The entire occupy movement is to get money for doing nothing. They don't want to work, they want to sit around and smoke dope all day. Suggesting that they work is insulting.

That is simply a right wing lie. Once again... useful idiots believing everything the right wing pundits tell you to believe. I have been working steadily for 32 years.. never collected unemployment, never been on welfare.... there are millions just like me.
And none of you resemble anything like those OWS creeps.
You may believe you and OWS are on the same side because you believe them to be fellow liberal voters. They are not. These people despise work. They are freeloaders. They believe all debt should magically be forgiven. They do not believe they should have to work to make a living. They believe that government should play a role in their existence and provide for their needs AND wants. After all according to OWS, the system is unfair and they got cheated.

We need the old Pub jobs bills they've been blocking since 2/2010- because the important thing is getting Obama, country and world be damned.

Only the obama can save the world! It must be true because some hysterical lefty said so!!!
