P F Tinmore, et al,

That is true as far as you you go.

Those are contorted bullshit definitions that applied to military actions of 80 years ago. Today -- by that definition --- the USA is still occupying Iraq because --
Israel still patrols and controls land inside Gaza. It still patrols by air. It has ships that patrol Palestine's territorial waters. It still shoots at, and sometimes kills, Palestinians inside Gaza. It still enters at will to destroy property.

Israel controls the population registry that entails ID cards, passports, and even determines who is and who is not a resident.

That is way beyond a simple blockade.
(COMMENT)

This is because the Hostile Arab Palestinian still poses a threat to Israel and Regional Peace. Remember, there was no NAVAL block until 2009, after Gaza posed the threat. And ALL nations have the right to police their borders. Israel takes what countermeasures are necessary in response to HoAP activities that cross into Israel. Just as any member of the G-20 would do in the face of such a real threat.

Remember, just recently, the Republic of Turkey shot down a Russian fighter-bomber for the alleged 17 second violation into Turkish controlled air space. ALL nations take seriously intrusions into their sovereignty. Israel is no different.

Most Respectfully,

Indeed, the Palestinians are a threat to Israel's colonial project.

Regional Peace?:laugh::laugh: Israel is the one who has been at war with all of its neighbors multiple times.

There has always been a de facto naval blockade of Gaza. The only exception was Israel's agreement to allow Palestinian fishing boats to fish up 20 nm. from shore with permits issued by Israel as agreed in the Interim Agreement. The limit was reduced to 3 nm. in 2006. The Vicious Israeli Jew Occupier (VIJO) has always controlled Gaza air space , Gaza territorial waters and Gaza borders, including the Egyptian border via proxy. Israel is the fundamental and original source of regional conflict, all U.S. wars in the Middle East have been waged to increase Israel's power vis-a-vis its neighbors as an artificial western outpost in the area.

Have you forgotten that Israel has been at war with its neighbors due to wars of aggression from those neighbors?

Have you forgotten that Israel made a formal peace with one of its neighbors, Egypt, and your Islamist heroes made an example of Anwar Sadat for doing so.

Have you forgotten that Israel has repeatedly returned land they secured as spoils of war initiated by Arabs in return for peace?

Your weak propaganda is refuted by the facts.

Who declared war in the first place and has been at constant war ever since. A small clue is to read the koran and hadiths for the answer.

So, you agree with me. Good.
But I don't agree with you.

I'm sure you're in agreement that the UN is remiss in not concurrently passing resolutions condemning Pal'istanian islamic terrorism.

I'm sure you agree that Israel has the right to protect itself from Pal'istanian islamic terrorism. Those measures emplyed by Israel include control of materials entering Gaza to reduce the materials used by Pal'istanians for the furtherance of Islamic terrrorism.

It's just unfortunate that the list of such permittable items into Gaza to include concrete and building supplies is problematic. Once in Gaza, these materials are be stolen by Hamas to build systems of bunkers and protected rocket sites as have been constructed by Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon.

This is why these materials are part of the embargo.

However, if Hamas were removed and the distribution of these materials to their intended purpose for home rebuilding; or if Hamas suddenly agreed to make a 180 degree policy shift and support the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and recognize the State of Israel has a right to exist, then all these concerns could be reasonably addressed. But, as we know, this wont happen.

That is not actually correct. In each case, the Arab League members were the aggressors. The three main conflicts were the: (i) 1948 War of Independence; (ii) 1967 Six Day War; and (iii) the 1973 Yom Kipper War.

• In 1948, the Arab League formed a military coalition and invaded the territory formerly under the British Mandate, and attacked Jewish settlements. Each of the participating members of the Arab League crossed outside their sovereignty and attempted to challenge attempted to defy the General Assembly in a deliberate effort to alter by force the settlement recommended [A/RES/181(II)]; adopted by the Assembly, accepted by the Jewish representative, and rejected by the Arab Higher Committee. Israel declares itself an independent state. The next day, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq invade, but ultimately lose much of the land the UN had set aside for Arabs. Egypt and Jordan are left in control of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, respectively.

• For reasons still not understood, the Soviet provide Egypt with tactical intelligence of an Israeli troop buildup along Syria's border. Egypt expels UN Peacekeepers, and sends over 100,000 troops into the Sinai Peninsula, and blockade Israel's sole Red Sea port. Israel responds with a preemptive strike on Egypt (establishes Air Supremacy). Then in a daring move, Israel pierce a whole into the Sinai that sweeps Egyptian troops back across the Suez Canal. After an orchestrated and coordinated attack by Syrian and Jordainian force are first entangled, stalling their advance; then Israeli Forces take the offense and seizing the Golan Heights from Syria and the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan. The war is over. It is only in November that the UN passes Resolution 242, using ambiguous language calls for a withdrawal of Israel Defense Forces in exchange for a termination of all claims and Arab Palestinian belligerency --- and acknowledgment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of Israel. However, in another politically aggravating move by the Arab Palestinians, the Khartoum Resolution (The THREE NO's) and the belligerents apply the policy that (i) No peace with Israel, (ii) no recognition of Israel, and (iii) no negotiations with Israel.

• Again, for reasons unknown, in 1973 Egypt and Syria mount a surprise attack against Israeli defensive positions alone the Sinai border and Golan Heights on the Jewish Holy Day of Yom Kippur. After early and impressive Arab military gains, the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) was able to neutralize a significant portion of Egypt's Tactical ADA System, which set the conditions for an lightening move by General Ariel Sharon to cross the Suez Canal and surround the entire Egyptian Third Army; completely cut-off from Cairo and no resupply; totally at the mercy of Israeli aid and armor forces.

Relative to the "colonial project" slur; it was the "Principle Allied Powers" --- the recipient of the territory that Turkey renounced all rights and title over, and the future of those territories --- that assigned the Mandatory responsibility for putting into effect the Balfour Declaration (1917) in favor of establishing a Jewish National Home. AND it was the Allied Powers that conferred the Mandatory with the responsibility to shall encourage and facilitate immigration for that purpose.

You can cast the Hostile Arab Palestinians (HoAP) in the role of the perpetual victim (although probably not very convincingly) as much as you want --- for as long as you want. But at some point the HoAP will have to face the reality and open-up a sincere dialog if either side is going to help cut the Gordian Knot.

Of course Israel is a colonial project. The Zionists themselves declared it as such. How can it be a slur? Can you explain.

You can cast the Vicious Israeli Jewish Occupiers (ViJO) as the innocent victims and the Palestinians as the hostile aggressors, but only some Israelis and a few misguided Zionist partisans in the U.S. would agree with that characterization.

The Israelis ended the dialogue when it became clear that Israel had no intention of negotiating for the establishment of a sovereign state for the non-Jews. Netanyahu's pledge that there would not be a Palestinian state made further negotiation a fruitless endeavor. (no one believed his later retraction) At this point, the only solution is a single state with Israel continuing as the Apartheid ruler or a secular democratic state for the Jews and non-Jews.

Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq lost Palestinian land to Israel?

Can you post a link to that legal precedence?

UN Passes Five Resolutions In Favor Of Palestine
New York, New York
(IMEMC) – The overwhelming majority of General Assembly of the United Nations, Wednesday, voted on five draft resolutions in favor of Palestine. The decision comes after the Assembly discussed the two articles, “the Palestinian Cause” and “the Conditions in the Middle East.”

According to Al Ray, the first resolution was entitled, “Using Amicable Methods to Resolve the Palestinian Cause”. The voting results were 148 in favor to 6 against, with 8 abstentions.

The second resolution regarding “Jerusalem” passed with 144 votes in favor to 6 against, and 10 abstentions. The third resolution was entitled, “The Informational Program about the Palestinian Cause”, which is being handled by the administration of media affairs in the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and passed with 147 votes in favor to 7 against, and 9 abstentions.

The fourth resolution was entitled “Committee for Palestinians Right to Exercise Ownership of Their Inalienable Rights.” The voting results were 94 in favor to 7 against, with 56 abstentions. The last resolution, entitled, “The Section of Palestinians Rights in the Secretary-General of UN”, passed with 91 votes in favor to 7 against, with 59 abstentions.

After the voting process, Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, gave a speech to show his gratitude and thanks to the member countries of the UN for their initial stand, and their votes in favor of the resolutions that show their support to the Palestinian cause.

Mansour added that the international community represented by the United Nations’ protection of international law is a source of comfort and support to the Palestinian people. It will help them in their continuing journey of resisting and striving to maintain their inalienable rights, and bringing an end to the Israeli occupation, which will liberate the state of Palestine and its capitol of East Jerusalem

out of more than 300 resolutions, more than 200 were anti-Israel.

no one cares anymore...

well except for jewhaters who declare victory everytime the other jewhaters pass a resolution.

Oh come now.

This is because the Hostile Arab Palestinian still poses a threat to Israel and Regional Peace.
Indeed, the Palestinians are a threat to Israel's colonial project.
Regional Peace?:laugh::laugh: Israel is the one who has been at war with all of its neighbors multiple times.

The next day, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq invade, but ultimately lose much of the land the UN had set aside for Arabs.

Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria lost Palestinian land to Israel?

Can you post a link to that legal precedence?

no, they didn't.

do you know anything?

never mind... rhetorical question.

I need you to clarify the question.

A precedence that covers what?

"Colonial project" is just an escalated choice of words. Generally, colonies are started under the purview of larger existing nations. When you talk about colonialism -- you don't think Israel or Pakistan or "Kurdistan"..

But --- since you are inflammatory about your approach to the issues here -- go ahead and keep using it. But be aware that you have now made the Palestinian Nationalism movement (if it exists) also a "colonial project"..

If you want -- I'll stop calling it Palestinian Nationalism and refer to it as the Palestinian Colonial Project...

Jordan lost the West Bank and East Jerusalem in that war. THEY are the rightful owners. And yet -- the Jordanian experience with displaced Palis was SO BAD --- That the King simply walked away from those acquired lands and made them into Israel's "problem"....

How dense are you?
