As a medical professional for 33 years, I have taken care of more than my share of Canadians. They come here for their healthcare for a reason.

Would you say your anecdotal experience is better than or equal to that of the doctor cited in the OP?

The only reason it's an issue at all is because the left made it one. We were all happy with the system we had except the homeless and unemployed. But they could get healthcare whenever they wanted it. Every city has at least one hospital takes and has taken indigent care. Mine is one of them.

Our system was not only NOT awful, it was the greatest on the planet. It still is mostly.

Irrelevant. Unless your idea of a great system is one that provides free medical care. If that is so then we are arguing apples and oranges. I know mine isn't free, but then I know I'm receiving the best care in the world.

Apparently 90,000+ Americans per year don't receive the best health care in the world... They die from preventable medical error.

Disillusioned with the U.S. healthcare system, Dr. Emily Queenan moved from Rochester, N.Y. to join a medical practice in Penetanguishene, Ontario this fall. Now she’s sharing her observations on the Canadian medicare system, where she says it’s easier to get patients in for follow-up visits but harder for them to see a specialist.

Queenan, in general practice, said she found her patients in the U.S. system would often pay thousands of dollars out of pocket because private insurance never covers the whole bill. “I would see people go without care because of they were afraid of the costs,” she said.

Dr. Queenan and her staff in Rochester were spending more and more time trying to get reimbursed at the expense of hands-on care.

I would love to, but here is the problem.
Once the government starts controlling and paying the doctors, doctors will be hired based on qualifications other than their knowledge, they will be hired under the AA program guidelines. This means that I, as a white male will not, regardless of ability be hired. And to complete that, once it becomes under control of the federal government, access to college is going to be controlled by the federal government ( at least as far as med school goes), and this means that the least qualified will be given the seat at school, passed without earning grades and then set free to practice on you.
bet there will be some medical disclaimer that keeps you from suing after you go to the doctor for a chest cold and come out with a rectum resection.

That was certainly the case in the Soviet Union, and I have no idea whether it's changed significantly in the intervening decades, or whether it will return to the soviet system under the former KGB agent so beloved of some of USMB's RWs.

But that's nothing like the single-payer systems extant in industrialized countries where they're effective.

The basic disconnect is between people who don't understand the difference between "insurance" and "medical treatment," no matter how many times it's 'splained to them.
