Twins whine about bunting against the shift

Down 7-0 with one out in the ninth, Orioles catcher lays down a bunt because the Twins threw a shift on him

There's no crying in baseball. Why in hell would any team whine about such a thing. Bunts are legal and you can legally prepare for them. Or not. It's like the fake ball spiking in football. Legal so don't bitch about it.

"We're going to set up our defense so we have the best opportunity to stop a hit from going out of the infield but we aren't going to account for bunts so you can't bunt ok?"

Go the hell away with that nonsense.

Baseball is so slow that it's for wimps, blacks and beaners.

To me, employing a shift when you are up 7-0 is like using a full court press in basketball when you are up 20

You deserve what you get if the batter embarrasses you with a bunt

if more people did that the shift would die a well deserving death.

I hate the shift

I can’t believe so many major league batters lack the skills to beat it
Even if you don’t bunt, just choke up on the bat and slap it down the third baseline

it's not the batters, it's the coaches and the analytic nerds saying the hitter is better off trying to bat through the shift for power than dink one the other way.

Same analytics that say a walk is as good as a hit

A man on base is still a man on base

Also the same analytics that say strikeouts don't matter.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t

Bottom of the ninth down a couple runs with some guys on base and no outs and your clean up is at bat, yeah a K is probably worth trying to end the game with one swing

But with one out, a ground ball will get you out of an inning with one swing

Has nothing to do with lacking the skills.

Still makes no sense not taking the easy hit
