Fire breaks out at Trump Tower in New York City, FDNY says

A fire broke out at Trump Tower in New York City’s midtown on Monday, sending more than 100 firefighters to the skyscraper and smoke into the sky.

The flames started in the heating and cooling unit on the roof of the Fifth Avenue high-rise just before 7 a.m., FDNY said.

More than 126 firefighters responded to the scene. Video footage showed several firefighters on the roof while smoke spewed out.

No injuries were reported. It's unclear what started the fire.

Any fire in a high rise is always a big response because of the threat of rapid spread and the large number of people occupying such a building.

it's the same as with other higher risk locations, such as gas stations. The one by me had a rag fire in the repair bay 3 years ago, and they send 5 trucks in the first wave.

The fire was out in 5 minutes, but with these types of fire, over-response is 1000 times better than under response.
