It's about time.

By definition, those seeking asylum, running away from something, must file for asylum in the 1st country they come to that is 'safe'....which is Mexico. Failure to do so makes anyone crossing into the US illegally ineligible for 'asylum'!

He ought to make it official through Executive order.

There needs to be an agreement first with that "safe" country. Canada is one. Mexico is not.

If immigrants are fleeing violence and oppression in their home country, once the cross Mexico's border they have escaped the violence and oppression of their home country.

Just because Mexico is not as clean, just because they don't have as good of an education system, just because Mexico does not GIVE THEM EVERYTHING FOR FREE LIKE THE US DOES is not a good enough reason for them to have to come to the US...illegally.

Disease, violence, oppression in their home countries causing them to flee by the millions is a humanitarian crisis, one of the exact reasons the U.N. was created to solve. Let the U.N. set up shop in southern Mexico, to handle them as they cross the Mexican border.

We need to also abolish birthright citizenship for the offspring of illegal aliens because it's an illegal immigration magnet, and it was NEVER meant for illegal immigrants.

But people need to live here five years before they can apply for citizenship and the process takes approx a year. Are they supposed to have no children during that time? What about immigrants who do not wish to give up their nationality but who never plan on returning to their home country and whose children will be seamlessly assimilated into American culture?
I seem to remember that not too many countries allow birthright citizenship the way we do. How do other countries handle it?

Trump can't get an immigration bill through either the senate or the house, and that's why he's changing asylum via a regulatory change. Personally I think the change is good, but his inability to get legislation shows he cannot focus on fixing immigration as a whole.

- An assault of US LAW

- An assault on our national security and sovereignty
