Tracy Chapman wins Song Of The Year at CMA for "Fast Car".

What year were you born?

Great music stands the test of time, obviously this one has.

“I just recorded it because I love this song so much,” he said. “It’s meant so much to me throughout my entire life.”

The original version of the song reached No. 6 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in 1988. It won Chapman three Grammy Award nominations in 1989, including for song of the year. She won for best female pop vocalist.
I am not impressed by awards from hollywood

The song is boring and not country

This one is country and far better:

To each their own. Everyone has their own preference in music.

If you've heard one L. Bryan song you've heard them all.......Something bout a truck tailgate and a girl.

We'll see if his music stands the test of time like "Fast Car" by T. Chapman which was released in 1988.

I wont disagree about that even if I have not heard them all

Country people are not groundbreaking and neither is their music

And no, its not the only style I enjoy listening to

Depends on which "country people" you're talking about.

Many ground breaking country artists in the history of country music.

Willie Nelson
George Jones
Waylon Jennings
Hank Williams Sr and Jr.
Ronnie Milsap
Loretta Lynn
Crystal Gayle
Reba Mcentyre

And on and on.

Great music stands the test of time.

Even Wild Willie never got too far ahead of the country fans who brung him

Pop crossover songs have been around for a long time.
I have always thought that Bob Seger should do a country song.
In a way, maybe he already has. The first that I ever heard of Bob Seger, it was through this video from being shown on CMT back in 1991. :) :) :)

God bless you and him always!!!

Holly (age nine then)

P.S. Because I had not heard of him before then, I just automatically thought that he was an all-new singer. :D :D :D

HIS? Tracy Chapman And that song was topical in 1988. It was a drop in the pan, INXS, in like thieves...https://youtu.be/IBtlTHYRScY
Yes HIS. Luke Comb's country cover is why the CMA recognized the song now.

She had multiple Grammy nominations with that back in 88'. Time flies.
