Yes, but Luke Combs who is a current country star covered it and it was a huge hit. Since Tracy Chapman wrote and performed the original she was awarded CMA song of the year and rightly so.

Pop crossover songs have been around for a long time.
I have always thought that Bob Seger should do a country song.

In a way, maybe he already has. The first that I ever heard of Bob Seger, it was through this video from being shown on CMT back in 1991.
