Gov Newsome signed a wage increase bill that increased the minimum wage to $20/hour. Delivery people at PH are now losing their jobs.
Unintended consequences or, ah the companies will pay it.....?
You can't fix stupid.

Pizza Hut is set to lay off more than 1,200 delivery drivers in Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties in the coming year, ahead of a new state law that boosts the fast-food minimum wage by $4 to $20 per hour.

A second Pizza Hut franchise, Southern California Pizza Co., is also planning to lay off 841 drivers. The layoffs will impact drivers in Pizza Hut locations in Sacramento, Palm Springs, Los Angeles, Central California, Southern Oregon, the Reno-Tahoe area, among others.

Yum! Brands, which owns Pizza Hut and other fast food companies such as Taco Bell and KFC, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
______________________________
Following the law's passing, Holden in a statement said the pay increase will help workers feed their children, keep gas in their vehicles, and improve the quality of life of many.
______________________________
It was previously reported that other food chains such as Chipotle and McDonald's said they planned to raise menu prices as a way to offset the costs of higher wages in California.

AB 1228 will impact more than 550,000 fast food workers and about 30,000 restaurants in the state.

Yep!!! There will be many more businesses doing the same thing here in California. I was walking down the isles of WINCO Foods and almost got run over by a sweeper cleaner machine. That helps with cutting jobs as they don't need anyone to sweep and clean the isles anymore.

Gruesome is some kind of twisted, soulless sadist. He must hate human beings with every fiber in that 180 lb sack of shit he dwells in....

Support drivers by ordering pizzas for pick up instead of delivery. Would be a win-win for everybody. The pizza delivery people could go out and get real jobs.

Actually, most pizza places are transitioning to DoorDash and UberEats for delivering food rather than have their own employees.

Also, fuck Pizza Hut... their pizza is shit.

That's the company's choice.

Did you go full on outrage when Texas based YUM filed for bankruptcy and closed 300 stores?
Maybe you didn't know that, but I completely understand.

I’m guessing the OP is pointing out that actions have consequences. This minimum wage bill was passed I assume to “help the workers” and it might help some number of them, just not these ones.
Maybe the bosses should help them get Gruhub jobs.

BTW, Pizza Hut has never been big on delivery. Watch their commercials. It's not mentioned.
The lack of delivery is how the other competitors eat their lunch.

Ok. Doesn’t change the situation for the people who were laid off due this bill. Which was the point of the OP

Grub hub, door dash, spark etc…have long waiting lists for hiring.
People need them as second jobs to supplement their employment in Biden’s economy.
