thoughts and prayer again?

"I send you my prayers" is simply a way that human beings express sympathy to other human beings.

We all hope that there is a God and an afterlife, even though most of us have never received any proof.

For example, I send my prayers to the soldiers in Ukraine because the outlook for victory is beginning to look bleak.

Only the conservative ones.

Of course. Leftists don't give a damn about the suffering of others -- physical or emotional
It's why we're winning. In order to rebuild from the ruins of an anarcho-capitalist theocracy you have to destroy a lot of things a lot of people will cry about. Fortunately government can keep printing money and people will accept it as valuable paper. All of this was by design, although obviously poorly and incredibly slowly, in order to equalize the proletariat. A lot of people are going to fight being reduced and they will end up having their lives ruined or ended if need be. If it was for the rest of the world undermining the USSR for 70 year we would have been the superpower. Now we are taking the USA and there will be no one who can afford to resist collectivization and central governance.

Piss and moan all you want, but at that point the world will finally not have puny governments causing wars over stupid issues or territory. All people will enjoy a monetary system that allows government to provide a minimum income to everyone and those who work harder can still get a little more, but we don't need thousands of billionaires ruling the world and making people suffer just so they can sit on top.

Who doesn't give a damn about suffering again?

Well over a billion people have been brought out of an illiterate iron age and colonializations thanks to capitalist imperialism. The two most significant communist nations rivaled for #2 compared to a country completely untouched but still enriched by war.

Once we have wrapped up the rest of you defiant peasants and collapsed the currency we will effectively control the globe as Marx predicted. It may still take 100 years, maybe 200. It matters not. At some point the world will have a single government that manages the people from a central authority so that all the worst weapons of the world will rust in peace. A single currency will guarantee a basic income for every human being and as robots finally produce everything mankind needs, and the population is managed correctly your descendents may experience life without the shackles of exploitation.

If a few BILLION people have to die so that trillions can live in perfect harmony for the rest of human history, so be it.

It's not "news". Just a prediction you can't deal with....

I believe the term "snowflake" will suffice.

What exactly is it that the "thoughts and prayers" are meant to accomplish?

Can they health the wounded?

Do they prevent future incidents?

Can they save a single life?

Or are they simply empty, meaningless placeholders. Deflectors to prevent any positive actions that might actually prevent at least some future tragedies from taking place?

Republicans, I really wanna know.

Americans use theirnlegal guns in average 1.1 million times a year to save lives......from rape, robbery, murder, beatings and stabbings......

Lives saved because Americans can buy, own and carry guns.....

And if someone at the school had been armed the attack would not have happened.....the Sandyhook shooter picked the one school in town that did not have a police officer resource officer on site...

Look at gun deaths per capita in red vs blue states.

Your way makes it worse.

You lying piece of shit....the blue cities controlled by democrats drive the gun murder rates in the red states

Dear Crepitus....

In the 1920s, we did what you preach, we registered our legal guns because the government would keep us safe. In 1939, our governments used those registration lists to confiscate our legal guns......

The us government is not composed of nazis or run by hitler.

At least as long as we keep the current crop of banana republicans out.

Oh cool. Crapitus is once again affirming that originality is also not in his tool set.

YOu and I both know that's complete bullshit.

Try again.

Nope.......

Case Closed: Kleck Is Still Correct

There are roughly 100,000 people shot in the United States yearly, and something over 30,000 die. If this 1/3 vs. 2/3 ratio of deaths to injuries in actual shootings pertains in these DGUs, that makes for at least 176,000 lives saved—less some attackers who lost their lives to defenders. This enormous benefit dwarfs, both in human and economic terms, the losses trumpeted by hoplophobes who only choose to see the risk side of the equation.

that makes for at least 176,000 lives saved—

The survey was designed by Deborah Azrael of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and Matthew Miller of Northeastern University,

The survey further finds that approximately a third of gun owners (31.1%) have used a firearm to defend themselves or their property, often on more than one occasion, and it estimates that guns are used defensively by firearms owners in approximately 1.67 million incidents per year. Handguns are the most common firearm employed for self-defense (used in 65.9% of defensive incidents), and in most defensive incidents (81.9%) no shot was fired. Approximately a quarter (25.2%) of defensive incidents occurred within the gun owner's home, and approximately half (53.9%) occurred outside their home, but on their property. About one out of ten (9.1%) defensive gun uses occurred in public, and about one out of twenty (4.8%) occurred at work.

Applying those restrictions leaves 19 NSPOF respondents (0.8 percent of the sample), representing 1.5 million defensive users. This estimate is directly comparable to the well-known estimate of Kleck and Gertz, shown in the last column of exhibit 7. While the NSPOF estimate is smaller, it is statistically plausible that the difference is due to sampling error. Inclusion of multiple DGUs reported by half of the 19 NSPOF respondents increases the estimate to 4.7 million DGUs.

n the third column of Table 6.2, we apply the Kleck and Gertz (1995) criteria for "genuine" DGUs (type A), leaving us with just 19 respondents. They represent 1.5 million defensive users. This estimate is directly comparable to the well-known Kleck and Gertz estimate of 2.5 million, shown in the last

----

As shown in Table 6.6, the defender fired his or her gun in 27 percent of these incidents (combined "fire warning shots" and "fire at perpetrator" percentages, though some respondents reported firing both warning shots and airning at the perpetrator). Forty percent of these were "warning shots," and about a third were aimed at the perpetrator but missed. The perpetrator was wounded by the crime victim in eight percent of all DGUs. In nine percent of DGUs the victim captured and held the perpetrator at gunpoint until the police could arrive.

Obama's study...

Defensive Use of Guns

Defensive use of guns by crime victims is a common occurrence, although the exact number remains disputed (Cook and Ludwig, 1996; Kleck, 2001a). Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million (Kleck, 2001a), in the context of about 300,000 violent crimes involving firearms in 2008 (BJS, 2010).
