This needs to be posted and watched again, and again and again...

You know, you guys could just try to argue the bill on it's merits. But since you aren't doing that, i presume that you dont think it has any.

I'll argue it on it's merits:

1. It's a fund for 9/11 workers that fell ill because they were trying desperately to save people buried under tons of rubble.

There's my first point, do you have a counterpoint?

Yes, of course, it's the only the ones youve been ignoring.

1. Why is this fund needed when the first responders were already insured in the normal course of employment for the State or City of NY?

2. What exactly did these workers do?

3. What process do you use to determine that they actually participated in the rescue during the 9/11 attacks?

4. Who manages this fund and disperses payments?

5. What article of the Constitution authoritizes these payments?

6. If this is so vital, why the long wait? Why during a lame duck session?

7. What's wrong with debating this bill on it's merits to make sure that everything and everyone that needs to be taken care of is taken care of?

These are just some basic questions off the top of my head that should be asked before we rush forward and pass legislation.

We need to stop this tendency for immediate action by our legislators. These bills need to be read. They need to be argued and debated. They need to actually be authorized by the Constitution.

There is nothing we need to act quickly about, short of war. And even then, especially then, we should have rigorous and healthy debates on the matter.

If someone tells you something is so vital it needs to be passed without any discussion, they are feeding you bullcrap. Because it's the vital legislation that needs to be debated and discussed most of all.

The left NEVER get TIRED of using one "group" or another for their political GAMES, do they.

The RIGHT are the ones who have using 9/11 as a political ploy for 8 years.

Hearing this from you is just fucking priceless.

This is just a bill to help 9/11 workers. That's it. They're not trying to use 9/11 as a reason to invade another country.
It is a good thing we had W in office on 9/11, Gore would have scheduled a meeting with bin laden and asked him not to do it again. W did the right thing, period!

I do, what do you think health insurance is for? Why does the gov't think they have to take care of them? Oh wait, the lefty gov't thinks it has to take care of everybody, socialists.

Why do you hate the 9/11 workers? Terrorist!!!

You know what, I have to go, and I'm tired of reading all the lame excuses, rationalizations, and character attacks anyway.

I find this entire discussion to be seriously disappointing.

There is no filibuster in the House. Democrats wanted it fast tracked, which requires 2/3, because they don't want it amended.

There is no filibuster in the house, that is correct, which is why the house passed it.

Weiner was yelling at people who voted no.

But I'm leaving. Later.

An excellent point, which is completely ignored by the left leaning members in this thread.

I mean they can't even address why they arent recieving health services from their benefits that we all know they had as first responders.

Not only this they act like it a rush when 9/11 happened over 9 years ago. If this was such an important piece of legislation, it should have been brought up years ago.

But they can't argue for the legislation. They just say "9/11" and think it must pass.

That's not how the US works.

Im not saying this is bad legislation. The problem is those who are whining about it not passing arent making any serious arguments for it. Relying on emotions is not a serious argument. That's the argument of a con man.

You're SO RIGHT!

Because not one Democrat voted to give George Bush war powers after 9/11, right?

What on earth does that have to do with the current legislation?

And quite frankly the Congress gave the President very broad war powers to President Bush very quickly. They should have narrow the scope quite a bit.

You do realize that under that initial authorization all the President has to do is say that a nation supports terror and that act gives the President power to go to war. He doesn't have to justify it. He doesn't have to prove that they have ties with terrorists. I think it's still in effect now. President Obama could use it the same exact way.

Thankfully, President Bush didn't abuse the power the act gave him and still went back to Congress for authorization to use force in Iraq. Because he easily could have pointed to the prior authorization to justify Iraq and wouldn't have had to provide any evidence supporting it.

The problem with rushing legislation is we get incredibly sloppy legislation.

It is seriously disappointing.

You can't explain why they arent already issured through the insurance we know First responders had through the City of NY.

You can't explain any of the details of the bill other than to say they are for 9/11 workers.

You can't identify the workers.

You can't tell us who is going to be safeguarding this trust to ensure there is no fraud.

You can't tell us the Constitutional provision that authorizes the Federal Government to even act in this matter.

You can't explain why this legislation is so vital that we can't even discuss and debate it but have to pass it immediately. Which, of course, makes no sense because if it was as vital as you claim we should clearly debate and discuss it to make sure it's done right.

You can't explain why it was dropped on us during a lame duck session if it's so vital.

You can't explain why it's needed after we've passed Obama care which we were all told was supposed to ensure that everyone is insured.

You can't explain what part of the budget you want to cut to pay for this.

Quite frankly, you can't tell us jack. All you can do is say "9/11. Give or your heartless" it's a classic emotional plea that provides no explanation why it's needed, how it's run, or what it hopes to accomplish.

If you can't argue your points without the emotional appeal, then you don't really care about the issue.

...Until Republicans stop filibustering the 9/11 health bill.

They used 9/11 as a fucking political tool for 8 years now, to advance their agenda, and now they shamelessly are stopping this bill from going through.

This is absolutely disgusting.
tell ya what, make it a clean stand alone bill, and it passes hands down
if the dems would leave it the fuck alone it would

I don't know that as no one has actually shown a link to the bill. And I doubt most here have read it.
