They Want War - H.R. 758

The guy in my avatar, if he were alive today, might feel we've done enough for Europe in the last 100 years.

IMO, since we've successfully encouraged and exported the American model of Capitalist Constitutional Republics...and the world is catching up with us...it's time to take off the training wheels.

Let the rest of the world stand on it's own two feet, no matter how wobbly their legs are.

Yeah just roll over and do nothing, hide and pretend the world isn't there. See what the Russians do next.
Oh brother...

It is NOT the Russians doing it. It is the American government owned by the military industrial complex and lead by a bunch of corrupt lying stinking politicians OF BOTH PARTIES!!!

We've evidently tricked the Russians into aggressive action then. This diabolical plot is insidious in it's ability to force the Russians to invade the Ukraine. We are indeed the masters of global manipulation.

It condemns the Russians for invading Ukraine. Offers assistance to Ukraine, and promises help should Russia shut off the supply lines.

We are part of NATO and the UN whether you like it or not. Countries have an obligation to take actions against aggressive nations whether they are weak or strong. You don't give Russia a free hand in this situation. And Sanctions and assistance are in order.

To not do this encourages even more from Russia and other nations.

I see no problem with this Resolution.

Unfortunately, America (one of the most corrupt nations on earth these days) shows aggression on a fairly routine basis. We have a Communist leader sitting in the White House and a two-party system that's allowing a full-fledged invasion of our land from unfriendly nations to our south. Why is America's sense of "morality" (at this stage of the game) more genuine than any other nation on earth?
We have our problems and have flexed our muscles across the globe....................I would agree with that...............

But not to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia on the global scale............Ukraine is a country and has been openly invaded by Russian forces..........we and the world have an obligation to condemn it..........which is what this bill does and shows support for Ukraine.........................

If you want to say we are the problem...................then do 2 wrongs make a right...................................

You either believe that Russia shouldn't be invading Ukraine or not.........There are only 2 sides to the equation. Which side do you agree with......................

I think we should clean up our own messes before cleaning up someone else's. I'm not all that certain that the Ukraine is aligned with "the American way" so I'm not too sure who the "bad guys" are on that end of the world -- Russia or the Ukraine or both. When we stop our own invasion then we can concentrate on stopping other invasions. JMO
Ignoring a possible global problem creates a bigger mess later................

We aren't going to War in Ukraine..................but we damned sure need to let them know we aren't gonna put up with any shit either...................which is why sanctions are a way to go................Russia's pockets aren't deep, and it's a way to stop escalation.

One "global problem" is the USA and her Globalist, Socialist, Secular policies and sense of "amorality." We're setting a standard that we don't want anyone else to follow or emulate. We massacre our own babies. We cave in to the queer lobbyists. We cower in fear when our own Federal Government steals land from hard working ranchers like Bundy. We sit idly by while Mexico pours over our border. We sign Global Treaties with Communists and allow them to become the world's #1 economic power. We allow all of these things to take place while flexing our self-righteous muscles when Russia dares to do something unrighteous! Not too sure I follow the logic.
The situation in Ukraine is not that subject. I've posted many times on issues here that we need to change..................

Done it many times..............but to allow the return of the old USSR BS cannot be ignored........................

When they do this shit, we go with the sanctions and say 2 can play at that game.................If not, they will walk all over you. As of now, their intervention is minimal.............

The other side of the equations is BRICS................different subject and for a different thread.

Back to the OP..........

Where the hell is the War...........................

I'm looking and don't see it.............Oh shit.......if we say anything bad about Russia it's WWIII............Lion's and Tigers and Bears..............

We've played this game before with them. This isn't jack...............We used to flip each other off and laugh about it back in the day..............And then they'd show us a bottle of Vodka, and laugh at us because we had no booze on board............The Soviet Bastards.............lol

This is not that dang serious................it is about who gets the oil from who................

We do a poor job of picking our battles, and the "Military Industrial Complex" Eisenhower warned us about encourages us to pick the wrong battles to keep the complex going.

If that were a reasonable rationale we would NEVER get involved in a war unless someone was pouring over the border.

Yup!!
Yeah isolationism is a 100% fail.
And it's gay.

And you believe that being the world's police force when we can't even clean up our own back yard is somehow "righteous?" You are aware that we're (Democrats AND the GOP) are allowing millions upon millions of illegals into this land? You are aware that America just "legalized" gay marriage? You are aware that we murder more babies than any other nation (other than Communist China) in "legal" abortion mills? You are aware that America has become a nation of fat slobs? You are aware that the Federal government is 100% beholden to special interest groups and NOT the People of the USA? If you are not aware of these things then you're either blind or a total fool!!!

That said ... what gives the USA the right to determine for the rest of the world what is right and what is wrong? Come on you brainwashed, government lackey ... give us a really good answer.
Seriously?
SHow me another country that doesnt have MORE problems than the U.S.
Illegals? Gay marriage? ABortion? So what?? What does that have to do with foreign policy?
We are a force for good in the world, generally speaking. Ask the millions in Eastern Europe we helped free from communism about it sometime.

So what? Really? So what? You yawn as babies are being massacred but you're "up in arms" if Russia crosses a border in the Ukraine? You MAKE MY POINT!!! Your complacency is the reason America is NO LONGER A GREAT NATION! We were great when we were good. We're no longer good and we have folks like you to thank for that. Your definition of "good" is upside down.

Today the US House passed what I consider to be one of the worst pieces of legislation ever. H. Res. 758 was billed as a resolution “strongly condemning the actions of the Russian Federation, under President Vladimir Putin, which has carried out a policy of aggression against neighboring countries aimed at political and economic domination.”
In fact, the bill was 16 pages of war propaganda that should have made even neocons blush, if they were capable of such a thing.
The resolution gives the green light (paragraph 45) to Ukrainian President Poroshenko to restart his military assault on the independence-seeking eastern provinces, urging the “disarming of separatist and paramilitary forces in eastern Ukraine.” Such a move will mean many more thousands of dead civilians.
To that end, the resolution directly involves the US government in the conflict by calling on the US president to “provide the government of Ukraine with lethal and non-lethal defense articles, services, and training required to effectively defend its territory and sovereignty.” This means US weapons in the hands of US-trained military forces engaged in a hot war on the border with Russia. Does that sound at all like a good idea?
Reckless Congress 8216 Declares War 8217 on Russia by Ron Paul -- Antiwar.com

When will this madness end?

Only 10 congress members voted against this POS resolution.
1) Justin Amash (R-MI)
2) John Duncan (R-TN)
3) Alan Grayson, (D-FL)
4) Alcee Hastings (D-FL)
5) Walter Jones (R-NC)
6) Thomas Massie (R-KY)
7) Jim McDermott (D-WA)
8 George Miller (D-CA)
9) Beto O’Rourke (D-TX)
10 Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA)

Rs and Ds...so little difference between them.

I guess you are blissfully unaware that there is a treaty in place, ratified by our senate, that requires the US to render aid. BTW that same treaty was signed by Russia stating they would respect the sovereignty of their neighbors.

We do a poor job of picking our battles, and the "Military Industrial Complex" Eisenhower warned us about encourages us to pick the wrong battles to keep the complex going.

Iraq being case in point. Now there was a completely unnecessary military adventure, poorly planned and executed, and for no real purpose. The Ukraine offers our military industrial complex very small probabilities for profit as Ukrainians are highly unlikely to purchase large orders of sophisticated weaponry. I don't buy the military industrial complex argument as an explanation for every foreign policy decision.

It is NOT the Ukrainians buying military equipment. It is the US gov buying military equipment.

Thus enriching the MIC and by extension, the two political parties.

Your lack of awareness is amazing.

I am staunchly anti abortion. But so what? What does one have to do with another? Are you OK with police illegally arresting and prosecuting people? If not then you should oppose intervention abroad! That doesnt make any sense. Any more than your yammerings make sense.

To the extent he's allowed to do so, Putin will reestablish Russia's borders along the lines of the Czarist empire prior to WWI or the cold war. I think the experience of the 20th century pretty well illustrates why we, and Western Europe, have a vital strategic interest in not allowing him to do so.

Allowing dictators to achieve their expansionist plans seldom ends up well.

Putin is practicing cult of personality in that he's portraying himself as the man who can stand against the West, and playing into Russians' paranoia, and they are nationally paranoid and have been from the czars right through Andropov, that the West somehow wants to dismantle Russia. Throughout the post-WWII period, Russia was a third world country with nuclear weapons. The achieved superpower status with their nuclear arsenal, and pushed ideological expansion versus the colonial traditions of the Western powers.

merkel summed up Putin as a leader without a functioning social/political nation and without a viable economic program.

The Russians long for their superpower prestige, and national view that they saved the world from Nazism, when in fact the Soviets were no improvement, and Russia has no historical social norm of personal freedom or personal property. The EU follows roughly the views of post WWII that what a nation does internally, absent some genocide or internal conflict that threatens to spill over into other nations, is not anyone's concern. But, Putin can only satisfy his own country's historical nationalism by intimidating the countries historically cowed by the Bear.

Bullshit.
Obama has cut military spending practically to zero. We have a transfer payment economy--transfer money from working productive people to layabouts like you.
