No gunny. Fascism is the union of big business and government, and it doesn't matter if its achieved by government taking over business, or business taking over government.
Fascism, as practiced in the 20th century, was state control of everything, to include business. Everything was subordinate to the state. "Big business" benefits ONLY if the state allows it to.
For instance, in Bazi Germany, Jews were big players on the financial business side of things. The state dispossessed them through force of arms.
Socialism, in its purest form, will never happen, not even in the la-la land liberal utopian idealistic quagmire. Even there, the liberals see themselves as the intellectually elite who need to tell others what's best for them; thereby, creating the rift in class structure which is not supposed to exist in socialism.
Fascism, in reality, mirrors the goals of the far-left.
Wrong. Facism is the fusion of control of the govt and the military. You notice Hitler sought the control of both of those and didnt even bother gaining any foothold into big business. Once he was the undisputed ruler and gained control of the military, business was at his bequest.
So what do you call it when big business completely controls government and dissolves the borders and repeals labor laws for their benefit? Here's a hint: it can still happen even if you refuse to give it a name.
Capitalism.
That's corrupt monopoly capitalism. Fascism. Socialism IS a path to fascism, as gunny points out, but he seems to think that exonerates his own neocon asswipes.
OK---corrupt monopoly capitalism---it fits America pretty well. They control the State.
And it's fair, because any individual can invest in the ongoing evil, through the magic of the public stock market, or, as I call it, the "guilt dissipator".
You're confused, gunny. A corrupt union of business and government occurs whether government takes over business, or business takes over government. Paths to totalitarianism lay along both sides of the "spectrum".
As an aside, do you believe laws against child labor are "outdated" ?
Aren't you the bright one. Only one problem with that long-winded theory ... fascism is actually a result fo going to too far left, not right.
Bet you were gear guard in the barracks during final drill, huh?
No gunny. Fascism is the union of big business and government, and it doesn't matter if its achieved by government taking over business, or business taking over government.
Actually this debate of whether socialism is left or right.....seems rather moot.
So what do you call it when big business completely controls government and dissolves the borders and repeals labor laws for their benefit? Here's a hint: it can still happen even if you refuse to give it a name.
You can call it what you want, but its NOT facism. Facism requires the control of the military, which ALWAYS ultimately will have the final say in any major upheavels in the country.
At the time of a national crisis, the President is allowed to call for a "state of emergency", when that occurs, whom does he send it to take control, the miliray or the CEO of the Fortune 500?
You can call it what YOU want, LuvRPgrl, but fascism is military corproate control of government and that is EXACTLY what we now have in our mutually cherished country of the United States Of America. President Dwight Eisenhower warned against the very predicament that we now find ourselves.

What the hell is "military corporate"????
