The best argument for keeping the death penalty

And if they continue to be dangerous behind bars, they can be put in 23 hour solidarity confinement.

Too many people labor under old information about our corrections system. They think homosexual rape and murder are commonplace. That hasn't been true for a long time. Prison reform in the 1990's has drastically reduced violence. They don't just throw a bunch of offenders together and whatever happens, happens. Now they work to isolate the most violent offenders and protect the most vulnerable. Nobody can guarantee anyone won't kill people inside or outside of prison, but we can't just kill people because of what they might do. That's insane.

Wrong.....you cannot guarantee that a murderer sentenced to life in prison will not murder a guard, escape and murder innocent people who cross his path, or get paroled or released by some social justice warrior who thinks the guy is no longer a threat....the list I have posted speak for themselves....you position is untenable.....

We are not killing them because of what they might do....we are killing them for what they have done...murdered an innocent human being....showing that the most basic of our laws will not stop them.....even knowing the consequence for their actions.....
Now you're just being repetitive. The pro death people look for some sort of rationalization to mask the fact that they just want to kill people they don't like. But every one of them fails the logic test, and precrime has got to be one of the worst. Normal self defense rules require an imminent threat before lethal force can be applied. Nobody gets away with killing someone because of what they might do. You remind me of ChrisL, wanting to kill non offending pedophiles because she's so sure they're eventually going to molest children. There is no justice in such an assumption.

The Catholic Church's wisdom on this is illuminating. Unless it's necessary to kill, a just society works to defend all life, even evil people.

They have committed murder........what part of that is failing to get through to you.........these people have committed murder..they are not bank robbers, forgers, or even pedophiles.......and there is no way you can keep them from killing again...even on 23 hour lockdown...........the death penalty guarantees they will never kill again....having earned the death penalty for taking an innocent life....
Most people in prison for murder never kill again. You can stomp your feet all you want, but there's no moral justification for killing people because you are so sure they will kill again. Even though most don't.

And your anecdotes reek of desperation to buttress a failing argument.

Sorry...you are the one who made the false argument to make a point, not me......they have taken a life...they do not deserve to keep theirs......and by taking theirs we save other lives.....
How do you know that? Especially considering most murderers in prison DON'T?

And what you think they deserve is a moral judgment, not a rational argument. The CCC says to leave that up to God for judgment.

No....we are killing people who have actually committed premeditated murder...we aren't just pulling people off of the streets and killing them........these are people who committed murder and have shown they do not obey the most basic law of our society.....you need to rethink your last post.....

That is the point. If we let them out, then WE are, in effect, responsible for those deaths.

God's judgment is what happens on Judgment Day. Man's responsibility is to separate the violent from the innocent via prison. God's responsibility is to render final judgment. It's best not to confuse those roles, those are mighty big boots.

You don't know how many. The posts above show it happens many times. Now check the number of unsolved murders and missing person cases. You have no idea how many were caused by released murderers. No one has more time to think about improving their craft then someone sitting in a cell.

Final yes, but the God I know has the power to determine when his judgement is fullfilled. He also knows the moment we are born and the moment we WILL die (and how).

All the more reason not to place ourselves in lieu of God and decide for ourselves when someone's life ends. Abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment, it's all part of the continuum of a culture of death.

God would have the power to stop any of them, would he not? Again, he knows the time we all will be born, and the time we all die. Man does not have the power to change that. Or so I've been taught.

I don't know about that. What I've been taught about the sovereignty of God is not that he controls that actions of men, but that the free will decisions of men, even the wicked ones, are bent to serve his purpose. The Crucifixion is a stunning example of this.

God has a plan for each life, a good plan that results in a long, happy life. But someone can commit suicide, do drugs, or something else to hasten their death. So yes man does have free will, and that includes murder. If someone dies in the attempt to murder, so be it. Victims have the right to defend themselves. But once a murderer is caught and brought to justice, he can be incarcerated for life and killing him is superfluous and unnecessary, and man does well to err on the side of life.

Free will. We have the God-given right to fuck up, royally. Some of us would like to keep that to a minimum.

And letting Monsters a minimum chance to rape and murder innocent children is the ultimate fuck up.

So God wants us, through our free will, to sacrifice our children to monsters like the one in the OP?

I'm thinking far differently.

No...it isn't....abortion is the taking of an innocent life....euthanasia the same thing......the death penalty is a punishment for murder....not even close to being the same thing.

If it is punishment. If it's being liberated from suffering punishment, then it would be a silly thing to do.

Instead of executing prisoners I say we reopen the old school prisons, and reserve them for only the worst offenders. Of course the prisoners who harm children get fucked with more in prison, but there are cold blooded murderers who after so many years fall into their new life, and don't have it nearly that bad. Send them to some old school shit hole with no rec room, library, etc., and let them have at each other.

Astounding are those that would allow a child rapist even the smallest chance to do so again.

When rape and or murder happen by escaped or released murderers, the blood of the innocent is on your hands.

Focus.
