Strict Muslim law also allows for abortion. Muslim law was the first to allow women the right to own property and to divorce. Centuries before British women were allowed those things.

cutting off the inner lips along with the clit,
sewing up the outer lips leaving a hole for urination and menstruation after removing the clit and inner lips,
cutting off everything exposed lips (both sets) with or without the clit remaining.

Technically that is called a clitorectomy. It is sometimes done along with a circumcision. In that case it is often referred to as female mutilation not femaile circumcision.

During the operation, all or part of the clitoris and the labia are removed. Proponents of female circumcision claim it makes virginity at marriage and marital fidelity more likely. Opponents condemn it as dangerous and painful.

The women filled in questionnaires, asking about their sexual history. The results show "female genital cutting cannot be justified by arguments that suggest it reduces sexual activity in women," write the team in BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
