Southern states are the epicenter of HIV/AIDS in the U.S.

I think is has something to do with certain viruses being able to replicate inside the gut of the mosquito, and thus surviving long enough to infect the next dinner target of the mosquito.

If AIDS was indeed mosquito-borne it would have been impossible to hide during the early parts of the epidemic when CDC actually got off their ass, and each new vicitm's history was documented as much as possible.

You're partially correct. HIV cannot replicate in a mosquito's stomach. HIV requires access to T-cells in order to replicate. These are not found in a mosquito's stomach, and any HIV will be purged in short order. But let's stay that the mosquito manages to suck up some of your T-cells during its meal, and those T-cells happen to be thus far uninfected, thus proving an avenue for reproduction of the HIV cells.....it still wouldn't matter.

Contrary to popular myth, mosquitoes do not inject you with blood. You will never be exposed to the blood of a mosquito's previous meal. Mosquitoes inject you with their own saliva. HIV cannot be transmitted through human saliva, much less mosquito saliva.

HIV cannot be compared to malaria here. Malaria is caused by a protozoa. Protozoa are single celled organisms with animal like qualities. HIV is a virus. Mosquitoes are natural reservoirs for the malaria protozoa. Not so for HIV. Malaria can spread into saliva, HIV cannot. Protozoa have the ability to reproduce on their own accord. HIV cannot reproduce until it infects a cell, and relies on the cell's reproductive mechanism to "print" new virus copies.
