Southern states are the epicenter of HIV/AIDS in the U.S.

Its the south. Low education, low wage..the list goes on..but they love the double wide....and Walmart.

your ignorant stereotyping geogrpahical bias is noted and verifies your stupidity.

you see, that right there is what I can't stand about the left/liberal. they just believe their shit doesn't stink like the rest of the people. it's not becoming and makes a person look ugly

And yet-----and yet you choose to not even try to show that the Southern collective is less educated, low wage and live in trailers - why is that?

You may have accidently stumbled over a - truth. Not all liberals are vegan/vegetarian, but most vegans/vegetarians are leftys.
Nutrition is a big part of why people in so called blue states are healthier (
see Michelle) and-----and a by-product of a healthier diet is we have less stinky poop - Thanks for staying on top of the stinky poop topic and-----and noticing liberals have less stinky poop... what was your modus operandi for making that discovery?

its what liberals do, they learned from Obama, divide the people so you can crush them. Divide them by age, race, sex, location, income, sexual orientation, etc.

divide and conquer is not a new concept.

Too much focus on HIV. 1 in 3 Americans has an STI, about 1 in 4 has HPV. Less than a million have HIV/AIDS or 1 in 320.

STD's and STI's don't carry the same stigma that HIV carries, particularly in the HIV infected South-----in the South where very few governors and/or legislators give rip about their constituents health.

If Southern state politicians cared about their constituents quality of life/health they would invest in their constituents health.

But if you want to change the subject of this thread from how Southern politicians are screwing over their constituents on HIV care to how Southern politicians are screwing over their constituents on STD and STI care - bring it on!

those states all have high percentages of gays, blacks, and welfare recipients. Maybe you need to rethink your narrative.

BTW, how many residents of California are infected with HIV? Try using actual numbers rather than percentages, you might see where the problem really is.

The states with the highest rate of new HIV infections are Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

The states with highest fatality rates are Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

The states of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas have also opted to not expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.

With the stroke of a pen, politicians in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas could save hundreds and thousands of lives.

HIV infections fall over last decade, progress uneven

Andrew M. Seaman
Dec 6th 2015

<snip>

Southern U.S. states, home to a third of the country's population, accounted for 44 percent of its HIV-infected individuals in 2012. And HIV patients in those states died at three times the rate of people living with HIV in other parts of the country.

"We've shown great differences among states, especially in the South, where they are years behind the rest of the U.S. in providing key preventive services," Mermin said. "That manifests itself in different health outcomes."

People in Southern states also tended to be less likely to know their HIV status, according to the report, which was released Sunday at the beginning of the National HIV Prevention Conference in Atlanta.

Jennifer Kates, director of global health and HIV policy at the Kaiser Family Foundation in Washington, D.C., told Reuters Health it's important for people to know if they're infected, because they can protect their own health and that of others by getting treatment quickly.

"As soon as someone is HIV positive they should get on antiretroviral therapy right away," said Kates, who wasn't involved with the new report.

She said people in the south face a "perfect storm" of problems with healthcare access and broader socioeconomic issues, including stigma and discrimination, poverty, lower education levels, greater numbers of uninsured, and higher rates of non-HIV sexually transmitted infections.

Yep, all Southern states have black-Americans, large gay communities, and most Southern states are poor. Are you saying the reason Republican led states are resisting finding ways to get health care to their constituents is because gays, blacks and poor people could get health care and spread less disease and get healthier?

No one in any state was denied healthcare before obozocare. NO ONE. As to being poor, have you visited Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Memphis, Birmingham, Charleston, New Orleans? Sure they all have poor sections but so to New York, Boston, and Chicago and San Francisco. But all of those southern cities have very wealthy sections, opera houses, great restaurants, fine hotels, and a booming economy. Whereas the liberal bastions of Chicago, Baltimore, and Detroit are falling apart due to years of liberal failures.

Does anyone know that there is a 100% effective prevention for STIs, STDs and AIDS?

Don't have sex!

One problem and it's a biggie world wide is that many black gays just can't come to terms with their sexuality and consequently do not seek medical help until too late. This is a real pity and sadly it's been going on for decades. One would think by now it would be acceptable to come out.

I managed this one band. Player black. Wouldn't come out if his life depended on it and this was in the music biz in Toronto. I've never gotten it. Especially in such a comfort zone of gayness. I still don't get it.

Look only at your first post in this thread, and you will "get" it.

Its the south. Low education, low wage..the list goes on..but they love the double wide....and Walmart.

Demeaning or marginalizing sex education
In some cases, strict adherence to abstinence only education.

Oh look, and STD epidemic. I wonder how that happened....

It is shame that more folks are not willing to actually discuss the seriousness of this topic instead of throwing shit at people for daring to live elsewhere than you.

One of the reasons why it's so high in those states is because they have that abstinence only sex education. They don't teach kids to use a condom and they don't teach them how to properly use one. They don't teach about the reliable and safe forms of birth control beyond saying that the pill is abortion.

Studies show that kids who only get abstinence only have sex earlier in life, don't use any sort of birth control or protection from STDs, rates for STDs are higher and have a much higher rate of unplanned and teen pregnancy.

It's also a very good example of what happens when such important things are "left up to the states." They don't do it properly or they don't do it at all exampled, Obamacare. There needs to be unified standards nationwide but the republicans want to live in 3rd world nation stink holes so they insist that important issues are "left up to the states." So their states are 3rd world stink holes.

I was in the south in October. What a mess. Their roads are a mess, their neighborhoods are a mess. They don't take care of their environment and I saw mile after mile of dead trees. The poverty rate there is sky high.

It was like going to a 3rd world nation. Nothing like I'm used to here in the north.
Which schools teach abstinence only? But it sounds like you've never been to Detroit, Baltimore, Chicago, etc. etc.

Good luck with that, Admiral!

What this tells me is that mosquito's are a vector for the disease as well. Which the scientists and doctors said couldn't be true. There were too many cases of people contracting the disease in the south, who were not in any of the normal target populations, when AIDS first reared it's ugly head. It's a true shame that when it was confined to a small population that the victims weren't quarantined. Now millions have died due to political correctness.

:uhh:

*facepalm*

Do you even science, bro?

It is impossible for mosquitoes to be a vector for HIV transmission. Mosquitoes do not inject you with blood when they bite you. Therefore, you cannot become infected with another person's blood through a mosquito bite. The HIV virus has no means of survival in a mosquito's digestive system, and is completely destroyed through digestion.
