So We Independents Visited Occupy Wall Street And...

why do you begrudge the people who actually see what's happened, while supporting the koch brothers' bought and paid for tea party?
the tea people are obama deranged old white people who started ranting about "taking back [their] government" the minute a black dem was elected and supported losers who pick judges who decided cases like Citizens United, while saying anyone who calls racists on their BS is racist. They oppose every single effort to support and bolster the middle class.I hope that helps.

Can someone get a fucking clue about the TP?

It wants smaller government, and lower taxes - and as a NYer, I could not agree more. Better, more efficient government will IMPROVE things for the middle class, what is it that keeps moron leftists from grasping that concept?

Less money going to waste pissed away on public union employees means more money for infrastructure like better roads/bridges/subways, better school materials, etc., is this concept that hard to grasp?

This question has come up over and over and over again. "What the hell does OWS want?" You get a concise answer, and you come back with a diatribe. And almost as if on cue-"Hey commies; the tea party wasn't racist!" And: "Well you accused us of being funded by Koch Industries. Buh buh buh but, you're being funded by George Soros." Some of the passionate assertions are comical; and are coming from people who were still eating Cheerios out of a Mickey Mouse bowl, while Mama watched the Berlin Wall come down.

I miss American unity. We would agree to disagree, and political leanings were not the cancer that ate away at friendships. And NOW, we have "da left and da right". It will take another catastrophe to again experience that unity. I fear for the future of this country. Everyone seems to think that they are right and that everyone else is wrong.

These people are nothing like I expected. After talking with them in depth, we learned what they are really about. What is it?

I'm a little lost on how the housing crash has anything to do with the fact these people accumulated debt. They were going to regardless and be unemployed probably regardless.

It's also interesting how they are nothing like you expected when all I saw out of your posts was support and a optimistic/positive view on them from the beginning. Your logic is hardly independent.

I guess you would call this an "optimistic/positive view":

""What a bunch of whackjobs! They have no central organization, no clear message and the people on tv look um "unbalanced". Seriously, they're pooping in public? WTF?"Now I have learned at least part of their primary mission:
Eliminate the influence of Corporatism and Lobbyists from the election process and give the power over elected representatives back to the people.
Well that sounds reasonable to me! deja vu
I wonder what THIS group will evolve into?
I'm not seeing great things but who knows?"

Ya see junior, that's not called overly optimistic or sympathetic. It's called an open-mind. I didn't like them at first but I didn't believe all the BS you spew because my thoughts and opinions are not fed to me that way yours are. Of course there are MASSIVE problems with them. And who knows what they will become. I acknowledge that. On the other hand, I have found a very clear message about getting Unions, PACs, Corps & Lobbyists out of government, that I can appreciate. About not giving money away to foreign countries. About not giving any more bailouts. Maybe you're all for those things but I'm not, so I acknowledge the good and bad in OWS OR the Tea Party. And I have in both. Independent thought is like that. YOu should try it some time! :eusa_angel:

I didn't see anything about the housing crash - so not sure what you're referring to there. I did see something about them not liking the tax codes that make it advantageous for major corporations to ship jobs overseas. What is your problem with that?

So whereas you perceive my logic to be "hardly independent", it's obvious yours is non-existent. the only "logic" you have is that which you are told to have by those who tell you what to think. :eusa_angel:

Your BFF,

FS

lol what a joke

First of all your first post, the negative one is in reference actions in NYC.

Were you in NYC?

You heard something about getting unions out of the government? That's unique, I haven't heard that at all. I could be wrong however it would sway my opinion on them little. If they want to get unions out of government I agree with them. I actually understand why they are out their, everyone has been asking where is the anger for the bailouts, and well here it is finally manifesting itself. That doesn't mean I agree with them, I just understand why they are there. Nor does an agreement with them on one point make me sympathetic to their cause.

This has nothing to do with the housing crash? What were the bail outs for? Why are we in a recession? What reasons do they have as to why they are unemployed and now want student debt forgiveness? Something Obama isn't going all the way on but it is something that he is addressing because they are making enough noise about it.

So what do they wish to do about the taxes for corporations? I agree that taxes need to be restructured, however, when you almost pit the 1% vs the 99%, which is what they are essentially doing it leads one to think they want them to pay higher taxes.

That wouldn't make shifting jobs overseas?

I stand corrected, you do construct your thoughts in a manner independent of any logic.

oh btw go fuck yourself with the open mind and force fed bullshit. It's old...

The "Occupiers" have some reasonable beefs but they should be occupying Washington instead of all these cities that aren't responsible for this economic mess. Everything starts with Washington. All of the massive Corporate Bailouts came from Washington. And they've also become a bit off-message. No one really knows what they want at this point. They should just pack it up and head to Washington. That's how i see it anyway.

I agree... they should be supporting Ron Paul if they actually mean all this trash they say

But I don't even know what's legitimate from them, this is and this isn't....

I wouldn't be surprised if the message changes from corner to corner

Yea i just don't trust the Left very much anymore either. This could be another sham like how they pretend to be Anti-War. But i'm still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one. They should head straight to Washington though. They would achieve a bit more credibilty with me if they did that. Washington is the problem.

If you have to blame someone or something...uhm....I think it depends on who you blame. Are we more frustrated (by "we" I mean in general, as I'm not part of the OWS movement) by the fact that politicians are allowing themselves to be bought, or are we furious at the multi-millionares for buying legislation?

These uber wealthy people OWN this country, and everything in it. So the question is; how and where do we get people who will represent the common man. And I don't mean in a socialist sense. Communism doesn't work. Rational people understand this. History has proven that. So when I say "represent the common man", I mean: how do we get representatives who truly represent the MAJORITY of the American people, and their interests?

I'm a Ron Paul fan, as well. ;) I think that he just might be too honest for his own good.

As George Carlin said: "If honesty was ever introduced into American government, the whole system would collapse."

Having spoken to many of the morons hanging out there, they are total clueless idiots. Most of them holding signs like "End the Fed" don't even know WTF the Fed does, what an investment bank is, etc. Don't take my word for it, ask them.

One pisshead was holding a sign that said: "Take all of your money out of JP Morgan" and I asked why...she said the bank could not survive without retail deposits.

I explained to the genius that most of JPM's profits come from IB/prop trading/prime brokerage, and in fact would probably drop retail banking if they could since it is such a low-margin business. They keep it so that the Fed will allow them to continue to call themselves a "bank". She just looked at me with her mouth open, like I had just explained how breathing works...

The people listening to me just smiled, some laughed, and walked away.

Hilariously clueless idiot = OWS.

I know exactly how you feel. When I went to my first Tea Party meeting, I asked a few questions about what exactly they would do about the deficit, if they reduced taxes. Blank stares. I asked if NASA would be eliminated since it was not specified in the Constitution and no single state would be able to afford to fund it. More blank stares.
Now I'm sure that just as in OWS, there are people in the Tea Party who could have answered me intelligently. But seriously, how many average people are going to know the details of Taft-Hartly or even Sarbanes-Oxley?

OWS doesn't have a coherent message because there is no central authority that can speak for every player in the OWS movement.

This is one of the problems associated with honest populist movements, generally.

To a lesser extend we saw the same kind of confused messages advanced by the tea party.

OWS wants the same opportunities that generations of Americans enjoyed.

Those opportunities continue to slip away from the middle class and the middle class is not happy about it.

Hey I posted about nearly 20,000 job openings in North Dakota some requiring no college degree that pay up to 100K a year.

How many OWS sheep have thanked me for the info?

NONE

These sheep do not want jobs they want handouts. They want to blame people more successful than them for their problems.

They do not want to earn and exchange, they want to take and give away.

That is not the motto that past generations of Americans lived by.

This is what started the Tea Party.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=or-EKjfVCoA&feature=related]Rick Santelli Rant CNBC - YouTube[/ame]

They were mad about a possible mortgage bailout, the health care bill and possible government funding of abortions by the government. They were also mad about the election of a black president.

Of course they had the right to protest..but they were and are nothing like the OWS. Nothing.

I'm sure you did sweetie...

I asked if NASA would be eliminated since it was not specified in the Constitution and no single state would be able to afford to fund it.

The TP is not the Ron Paul lunatic asylum. They do not call for the termination of NASA. Perhaps you and some other ron paul psychotics do....

Now I'm sure that just as in OWS, there are people in the Tea Party who could have answered me intelligently. But seriously, how many average people are going to know the details of Taft-Hartly or even Sarbanes-Oxley?

Except that wasn't what I was asking, but nice try honey. Here's another nice article on the OWS frauds:

NYC arrest records: Many Occupy Wall Street protesters live in luxury - Yahoo! News

NYC arrest records: Many Occupy Wall Street protesters live in luxury

"Many “Occupy Wall Street” protesters arrested in New York City “occupy” more luxurious homes than their “99 percent” rhetoric might suggest, a Daily Caller investigation has found.".

"Occupying" cities like Nashville and Oakland makes no sense. Those cities didn't cause this awful economic mess. They're losing support with these silly "Occupations." They should only be occupying Washington. That's where all the problems are. Maybe the Left doesn't want to occupy Washington because one of their own is in the White House? That could be it i guess. Occupying Wall Street was cool but Washington is the real problem in the end. They should head there immediately.

You can ONLY SUPPORT these IDIOT on the FOLLOWING GROUNDS...
10 YOU ARE AN OPEN RACIST.
2) YOU ARE AN ANTI SEMITE.
3) YOU ARE A NAZI
4) YOU LOVED POL POT AND OPENLY BELIEVE INHIS GENOCIDAL POLICY!!!!
5) YOU WANT ANOTHER BEIRUT BARRACKS BOMBING INCIDENT TO OCCUR!!!!
OTHERWISE its just PEACHY DANDY!!!! ROFL

How can I take a bunch serious that puts on an anti-capitalism rally, sports thousands of dollars in electronics, being fed by chefs making spaghetti bolognese, deifying Steve Jobs who for all intents was as hard core a capitalist as they come, running off homeless people who show up in search of a decent free meal and all the while relieving themselves at will anywhere they want?

OWS is a fucking sham and at the end of the day, way overblown.

We are small to medium sized business-owners

This line is bullshit. No small business owner has the time to hang out with a bunch of spoiled whining brats because they're too busy running their businesses.
Mr. Romney, big companies are not people. WE are people. Yet you and corporate raiders like you, do everything for the 1% and nothing for the rest of us.

Why aren't you doing something for yourself instead of demanding that others do shit for you?

But here you are demanding and accepting your own government bail outs like Obammy's new student loan forgiveness plan or the mortgage refinance plan. You accept all kinds of refundable tax credits at the expense of others. You got yourself into debt so if you don't want to be hypocrites then you should get yourselves out of it.

1. Pull every dime you have out of the major banks and put them in credit unions or small, local banks. If your country means more to you than a few extra dollars in your portfolio, liquidate it. Who’s that going to hurt? Those who make their living on Wall Street. The 1%

This just shows the OWS ignorance. If you liquidate a portfolio and put it all into a credit union earning less than 1% who will it hurt? Really are you supposed college grads and business owners that fucking stupid?

We don’t want handouts. We don’t want to end capitalism. We just want a government that prioritizes workers over Wall Street. Constituents over Corporations.

You do want hand outs. This whole "give me a job" attitude is nothing but begging for a handout. If the governor of a city where you sheep are shitting all over the place offered $10 dollar an hour jobs doing grounds maintenance and street sweeping cleaning up the mess you pigs make would you take the jobs and stop blaming everyone else for your problems?

Somehow I doubt it.

Because last time I checked, government is for the people. Or do you think otherwise?
