So many politicians do this (which should be illegal) but the Democrats.. way more than Republicans

I also want a balanced budget requirement at the federal level that most states have to live by

Then the welfare bums could not vote for higher taxes on the other guy without paying the higher tax themselves
Yes we remember how Republicans wanted that under Bush. But the only cuts they wanted to make were to social programs and poor people. This is nothing new.

I think you have a more socialist agenda of from each according to anolity, to each according to need than I do

Giving government handouts only encourages more people to expect a handout
I don't consider social safety nets a handout do you?

I considered myself a Christian for over 30 years and you are right. I never met the man. You have? LOL

I'm thinking about my dearly departed mother right now. I'm spending time in her presence the same way you spent time in his. Stop being stupid. Are you trying to convince me or yourself? LOL.

No I can't tell you what your reality is. My neighbor also thinks as a small child in 1977 she was visited by a Jesus who looked like this

Dumb bitch doesn't realize her mother was watching this mini series.

you just know everything, don't u?

You know exactly what I --person you have never met--have been through in life and what has benefited me or not benefited me, etc..

how utterly presumptuous

and needless to say, how utterly WRONG you are.. But I see you are about as hard headed and arrogant as.. so many I've tried to explain Catholicism to.. so I will mosey along and you can investigate things for yourself or not... That is on you. You c an lead a horse to water...

I say you are being sardonic here

I tend to think we should only tax luxury items, cars over $20,000 or what have u
I like it that they don't tax food. They should also not tax other things like winter jackets and shoes. Things people need.

But you do know if the tax goes away, the shoe company is not going to pass on those savings to you. They already know you are willing and able to pay 6% more.

oh, so you don't have a problem with the scenario I described: how politicians get filthy rich off the taxpayers but a disabled person getting a puny $800 a month to live on.. when rent alone is $1000 + in many areas..

geez... knuckleheads to the left of me, knuckleheads to the right

I've tried to explain Islam to you. Or Mormonism. Why aren't you seeing it? LOL.

Only halfway

Our government is bankrupting America with its borrow and spend policy

If the poor are made to feel the pain of taxation they may demand better government

so in other words, it's not a perfect world and not absolutely perfectible?

no shock to some of us...

the poor are already feeling great pain

maybe everyone should be poor at least once or twice before the age of, say , 50

then we wouldn't have to have these kind of conversations.. Everyone would know what it is like

I do have a problem with the politicians

But fixing the problem begins with the voters rather than the corrupt swamp rats on government now

wrong!

If we don't fix the Swamp little to nothing will change anywhere else. The fish rots from the head down.

Trump has promised (and he has a record of keeping his promises :WooHooSmileyWave-vi:)

that he will fire a lot of federal "workers" aka political hacks destroying our country

which is probably the main reason a lot of people are planning to vote for him or whomever runs on the R side but hopefully it is Trump or a very Trump-like person

Do you mean sort of a “black like me” scenario?

I think it matters how everyone gets to be poor

Was your name chosen by lottery and all your assets forfeited

Not good but as long as they dont take the personal qualities that made you successful to begin with you wont stay poor for long

You echo what I have been saying to libs for several days now and many years before this

A balanced budget must include across the board cut to every intetest group rather than the party in power just pandering to its base

not true

you have to have certain "things" to get out of poverty and some people just do not have those things..

Ever read the parable Jesus told in Lk 1619? very interesting, seems to show what God thinks about money, having it vs not having it

You would disagree w/ Jesus, probably

Congress first.

I say the People should directly control their paychecks. Maybe their pay should be tied to inflation.. then we wouldn't have crazy Utopians in the Congress (or WH)

and Congress doing insider trading needs to END now..

Anything that smacks of a conflict of interest in their business dealings needs to be made illegal

That's what government is for. If a tax scheme isn't right or working or fair, tweek it. This is what we did because a flat tax isn't any of those things. From what we are told. If you could point to one other country that has a flat tax and show me it has worked in the past or is this just a libertarian dream of a perfect economy? Where most economists say it won't work, isn't fair and a gift to rich people.

What you're doing is arguing for the richest in our society. I get it why they want a flat tax.

Then don't vote for Trump.

I heard his son's would stay at Trump Hotel in Washington, get the rooms comped but then overcharge Washington for the rooms. Same when they put up Secret Service agents.

This is why we needed to see Trump's taxes. Any conflicts of interest? Lots.

I don't recall the conversation being about flat taxes

can't dispute what someone is saying? change the subject

Not living up to a campaign promise is one thing but changing seemingly basic beliefs when polling data doesn't seem to be on your side is different. Case in point is Pa.'s Fetterman who claimed to be a typical "green" democrat and was absolutely against fracking but when energy prices went up he claims that fracking isn't so bad after all. Can you trust a guy like that?
