We bombed Libya to depose a dictator. We don't have to do that in Syria. We can protect the people by repelling the tanks. We don't have to keep bombing. A few tanks destroyed and the regime will not want to lose anymore. It's simply not the same kind of madman in control over there.
First, to be clear, I am not saying I agree or disagree with McCain.
Second, I am curious as to your military expertise. Which branch did you serve in, and in what capacity? Were you involved in military strategy? Threat assessment?
None of the above. But I do care about people being subjected to mass murder. Also I'm an American, and as such I'm entitled to have that my opinion. While serving in the military is a far more honorable service than anything I've ever done it doesn't mean I can't wish for better.
Not trying to claim my opinion is the proper military solution but at the same time we are quite capable of acheiving the over all goal. We did it in Iraq for a decade.
We can easily target the tanks shelling civilians. That is neither invading nor starting a war. A war is where the opposition fights back and we risk casualities or damage. All we stand to lose is a few bucks. A few bucks for lives.
Or are we too stuck on sex, boobs and rubbers to have an opinion yet?
I could agree with a target any tank in a residential area policy as long as its a joint operation. No boots, no invasion, just aerial support for the civilians that are being slaughtered.
Yes I know we have serious money problems but if we stopped trying to teach Afghanistan how to eat with a fork and tie a tie we wouldn't have a problem with it.
my opinion is that McCain needs to retire.
While I agree with that it hardly passes as a response to the actual Syria issue.
Well, I assumed you'd realize that Im saying it because I think its absolutely absurd for us to think about going into Syria when there is no reason to.

Hmmmm. I wonder why he couldnt get enough support to win?
Even from those dead set against democrats, like me
Yeah, but Obama took us to war also, and did alot of other fucked up shit McCain would not have done.
It is a typical Republican move. I am disappointed in McCain. It seems he went to the Far Right in order to gain the GOP nomination in 2008, and he never came back to the middle. I guess Romney is trying to do the same thing.
I heard McCain said Obama should continue efforts to monitor the situation. As for "going in", NO, unless..........................as I wrote a couple weeks ago, this may be a REAL reason to get get involved. I do not know. Obama appears to be putting time into Syria AND Iran. I do not think it will help, but again no definite opinions from me.While I agree with that it hardly passes as a response to the actual Syria issue.

I was quite clear about not going into Syria.
Can you ever just answer a fucking straight question?
In Congress, the war drums are pounding about IRAN:We should cripple Syria's military so they have a harder time killing their own people.
We are such a war weary nation after decades of war that when small military actions would be a good thing even those are frowned upon.

Why is it a good thing? What's in it for us?

The same thing that's in it for you when you put money in the salvation army bucket at christmas time.
