So I heard McCain wants to bomb Syria, opinions?

We bombed Libya to depose a dictator. We don't have to do that in Syria. We can protect the people by repelling the tanks. We don't have to keep bombing. A few tanks destroyed and the regime will not want to lose anymore. It's simply not the same kind of madman in control over there.

First, to be clear, I am not saying I agree or disagree with McCain.

Second, I am curious as to your military expertise. Which branch did you serve in, and in what capacity? Were you involved in military strategy? Threat assessment?

None of the above. But I do care about people being subjected to mass murder. Also I'm an American, and as such I'm entitled to have that my opinion. While serving in the military is a far more honorable service than anything I've ever done it doesn't mean I can't wish for better.

Not trying to claim my opinion is the proper military solution but at the same time we are quite capable of acheiving the over all goal. We did it in Iraq for a decade.

maybe that's why it took a decade.

It is a typical Republican move. I am disappointed in McCain. It seems he went to the Far Right in order to gain the GOP nomination in 2008, and he never came back to the middle. I guess Romney is trying to do the same thing.

We can easily target the tanks shelling civilians. That is neither invading nor starting a war. A war is where the opposition fights back and we risk casualities or damage. All we stand to lose is a few bucks. A few bucks for lives.

Not invading or starting a war. Destroying another countries military weapons is not starting a war?
Do you think the Syrians may view that differently.

And why are these Muslims more our problem that the problem of other Muslims that live in this area?
Where are they? Why are Saudis not bombing the shit out of em?

Know why? Cause they figure we will be stupid enough to do that for them.

Either we hate Muslims (which many do) and let them solve their own issues or we are the police department of the world.

Which is it.

Or are we too stuck on sex, boobs and rubbers to have an opinion yet?

I could agree with a target any tank in a residential area policy as long as its a joint operation. No boots, no invasion, just aerial support for the civilians that are being slaughtered.

Yes I know we have serious money problems but if we stopped trying to teach Afghanistan how to eat with a fork and tie a tie we wouldn't have a problem with it.

I think the world OUGHT to put down the Syrian regime.

I doubt it will find the political will to do so, though.

Neocon Globalists & Socialist/Progressive Globalists. Is there really a difference? They're all calling for War with Syria. Maybe one day we'll have real choices in our Elections. One has to dream i guess.

Hmmmm. I wonder why he couldnt get enough support to win?

Even from those dead set against democrats, like me:lol:

Yeah, but Obama took us to war also, and did alot of other fucked up shit McCain would not have done.

Probably true, but the differences between them were miniscule. So far the economists projections of debt from that time are spot on and climbing.

That election was dem or dem lite. So I withheld support.

Lol.

When Obama does it it's good foreign policy.

When a conservative does it, it's a typical Republican move.

LMAO.........the laughs just keep coming.

While I agree with that it hardly passes as a response to the actual Syria issue.

Well, I assumed you'd realize that Im saying it because I think its absolutely absurd for us to think about going into Syria when there is no reason to.

I was quite clear about not going into Syria.

Can you ever just answer a fucking straight question?
I heard McCain said Obama should continue efforts to monitor the situation. As for "going in", NO, unless..........................as I wrote a couple weeks ago, this may be a REAL reason to get get involved. I do not know. Obama appears to be putting time into Syria AND Iran. I do not think it will help, but again no definite opinions from me.

Didn't ole Hitlery Clinton just claim Syria has those dreaded WMD's? Wake up America. Neocon Globalists and Socialist/Progressive Globalists are the same thing in the end. It's just a shady shell-game their playing with us.

We are such a war weary nation after decades of war that when small military actions would be a good thing even those are frowned upon.

We should cripple Syria's military so they have a harder time killing their own people.

I hear the term neocon tossed around a lot. I'm fairly ignorant to its true meaning so I have a question.

Does my position on this subject make me one and what the hell does it mean.

Why is it a good thing? What's in it for us?

The same thing that's in it for you when you put money in the salvation army bucket at christmas time.

Seriously. I don't feel like reading the whole thread to find your reasoning on why you support this. What would be in the US interest to involve our military in Syria?

Assad and his band of thugs are killing their own people. Perhaps thousands have died. It's a a horrible tragedy. The United States should insure that it is doing NOTHING to help Assad.

As terrible as it is, I see no immediate reason to place American men and women into harms way. If we intervened, would Syria then become some staunch American ally? Or would it emerge from it's civil war, somehow transformed from a third-world shit hole where Islamofacists stand in the wings to take over? Think Eygpt and Libya here. Another place to throw American lives and money down a rat hole.

This is the time and place where diplomatic and economic sanctions should be applied. Barry and his boys are almost at the end of the line for that in Iran.
