And no amount of "encouragement" is going to stop people in other countries from growing their economies by any means available. Right now cheap energy is the best way for an economy to grow.

It makes no ecoonmic sense to destroy your own marketplace.

Most countries have a range of good energy options available to them: nuclear, natural gas, tidal, solar and wind are all sustainable forms of energy.

Coal is not.

Most countries realise this, which is why conservative parties around the world, from the UK to New Zealand, from Finland to Japan and from Argentina to Australia have climate change policies based on 21st century science.

The earth is not going to be "destroyed" if the average temperature is a few degrees warmer.

BTW no fossil fuel is a "sustainable source" they will all eventually be exhausted.

I see Kerry's role as more one of working with other countries: offering advice, sharing information, and finding common solutions. I'm not sure why anyone would be against that.

Maybe you should read some of the warmists posts before you make such a blanket statement. Rocks, konradv, rolling thunder and a few others are quite convinced that the earth is presently at the optimum climate and a change of 2 degrees will be devastating. The press also bemoans the catastrophic consequences of a 2 or 3 degree rise.

The chances of any kind of significant climate change legislation is ZERO.........all has to do with the GOP governors redistricting efforts since 2010. Many House Dems now sit on a fence in terms of consistuents.......there is no way they are voting to slam thier constituents with much higher electric bills. Its quite that simple. All the government has to do to get favorable climate change studies is pay for results. Dozens of scientists will produce studies proving climate change. That's what they are paid to do.
