i wanted a tree or something reasonably like for the solstice...i do not like to kill trees and i dont have the room for a live tree...so i went all artsy fartsy this year.....

went to michaels and got a green cone...as you can see the idea was to cover it with tips and pine and boxwood

the beginning:



now there are two of us working on this....one cutting materials the other pushing them into the cone...

after an hour or two man hours:



we are beginning to fuss....faster he says...i want it to be full and he wants it to be finished

now 3 hours in....or 6 man hours.....




by the time we finished the house was covered in raw materials..we were about to kill one another .....good times...good times....

Next time just "top" a real tree. The tree lives on, you have a better product and you don't kill each other.
