San Fran first city to hit $10 minimum wage.

PLease elabortate on how I' have to pay for their minimum wage increase

Do you honestly believe that a state that is bankrupt can afford to raise the minimum wage like this without federal help?[/QUOTE]

I'm sorry, you must be under the false impression that the state owns all the businesses. But that's not how we do things in America. That would be socialism.

Nope, I hate a local government that implements policies that the rest of America has to pay for. If San Francisco will pay for this themselves and can afford it, I support them in it. It's when they rely on the rest of America to pay for there decisions is when I hate them.

A higher minimum wage incrementally reduces the amount of government aid a person working at that wage is eligible for.

These people are morons, the price of everything else is going to go up right along with it, and they can barely pay there bills to begin with. I just hope they dont plan to fund this with Federal Money because the rest of us out here in reality cannot afford there shitty policies.

Theoretically minimum wage should vary with our market...

I suppose in present times minimum wage is a standard - however economically speaking it shouldn't be.

You're correct tho - just creating a figure is retarded - a true living wage is totally dependent on our economy...

I suppose regional economics play a roll as well..

What is the unemployment rate in San Fran?

Whatever it was yesterday is nothing, just wait until after this goes full blown, it will surely get higher.

And job happiness will surely rise when minimum wage gets removed and employers pay their employees 2 dollars an hour.

Yay jobs for everybody! Nobody is discontented!

When I lived in Tampa, all the fast food restaurants in the area had to pay substantially above the minimum wage. According to the libturd theory of economics, that would be impossible.

How do you explain it?

You hate local government I guess.

Actually, this is the perfect example of why local governments are supremely better. If this policy starts to drive out businesses and wreck havoc on San Francisco's economy, people can simply move. However, if this was done at a federal level then you have nowhere to go, we're all screwed.

What better way to get money circulating to small business? Giving tax breaks to the uber-wealthy is a myth, a RW taking point with no basis in reality.

I agree about the tax breaks, but your assumption that jacking up the minimum wage will help small businesses is lunacy. How in the world do you think small businesses can afford to pay a $10 minimum wage for unskilled labor?

If people could "simply move" no one would live in shitty school districts.

And they shouldn't. There's no excuse for sending your kids to school in a shitty district. I have no sympathy at all for people who live in the ghetto or in hurricane zones, they're doing so by choice.

That's not my quote. I think you need to learn how to use the forum. The stuff you do and the things you say really do remind me of an uneducated child.

On more thread and one more example of simplistic thinking and a failure to understand cause(s) and effect. New Right supporters are in general stupid, ignorant or willfully so and do not understand microeconomics; most have never been to San Francisco yet make broad judgments based on little more than emotion and the propaganda of conservative media talking heads.

In other words, you do not have an intellectual opinion based on facts in this topic?

I do have an opinion based on the evidence (you being a member of the New Right and a partisan hack) and you seem to be actually ignorant - if not stupid. Money earned by those who earn minimum wage circulate throughtout the local community. Tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires rarely stimulate local economy, those dollars are as often invested in emerging markets, art or precious metals.

"Hurricane zone" means the entire gulf coast and almost all of the eastern seaboard.

The fact you think people live in ghettos by choice is reflective of your status as a sheltered white person.

Why would you think anyone would want your sympathy anyway? Do you think you're actually worth so much as a human being that a stranger would give a shit?

People where creating jobs back then, Clinton did not have his foot on job creators throats either like Obama and the Democrats are doing right now. Different era. Shitty example on your part.

Clinton raised taxes AND the minimum wage. So I'm not sure how you can justify your statement in the context of right wing ideology.

Was the economy as fragile then as it is now?

NO - THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT. Righties think raising taxes and minimum wages is BAD for the economy - CLEARLY IN THE 90'S, IT WASN'T.

Its like talking to a wall I swear to FUCKING god.

Utter bullshit. I've never once been asked to pay the paycheck of a person employed anywhere in San Francisco. Neither have you, I'm sure.

So when the federal government gives money to states for education and what not who's money are they giving? The tooth fairies?

No, he just hates imbeciles in local government. San Francisco can be as stupid as it wants, so long as the rest of us don't have to pay for it. Unfortunately, we will

Why will you have to pay for SF's minimum wage hike of 32 cents?

Because like most other things they implement in nanny states eventually they wont be able to afford continuing it, and just like any other type of program that government implements, you just cant jerk it out from under the peoples feet once they get used to getting it "Remember the lefts argument on why SS could not be reigned in?" so eventually Cali will ask for Federal Help in keeping with there failed policies.
It's not like this has not happened before, those of us living in reality know what's going to happen.

Yes, A higher wage would, but in California a state minimum wage of $10 an hour is like making $7 an hour most anywhere else due to cost of living, which would still leave them in a bracket that they could continue getting assistance.

It's not the governments job to set an hourly wage, it's the businesses job to set it. If that business wants to pay $2 an hour then the worker could walk accross the street and work for someone who pays a better salary. That being said the first employer would have to raise his hourly wage to attract workers back to him, and it would go back and forth and work itself out, WITHOUT GOVERMENT INTERVENTION WHERE IT DOES NOT BELONG. The free market works beautifully up and until progressives and socialist are allowed to play with it.

How does a higher minimum wage cause "the rest of America" to pay for "their" decisions?
