No we've just evolved beyond the point that we think killing folk who don't agree with us is a good idea.Who ever called hitler a good general?As any good General knows sometimes its best to withdraw forces and live to fight another day.
Had Hitler known this he probably would not have lost his 8th Army at Stalingrad and thus WWII.

As for two equally armed sides guaranteeing a happy ending??? Stalingrad proves that the opposite is true, and mass carnage - and not just for the two sides but the civilian population as well, is the inevitable outcome!
Hitler was always going to lose WWII as coal was Germany's only natural resource, He needed oil, part of his reason for invading the USSR. By 1941 Britain and later Russia was out producing Germany in military hardware.
