Republicans deserve what they get

Politicians from both parties will continue to act this way as long as their top two priorities are fundraising and re-election.

It's a system that We The People are allowing to continue. What I don't understand is why we don't see this.

The left loves to declare that President Trump has done “nothing” when in fact he has done everything he is constitutionally responsibile for (and very successfully I might add). It has been the Republican Congress that has done nothing.

They talked such a big game in 2010. They promised they would repeal Obamacare (they’ve done no such thing). They promised they would pass a budget (they’ve done no such thing). They promised they would restore fiscal sanity (they’ve done no such thing). They promised the world and they delivered absolutely nothing.
“Just a few years ago, Speaker Ryan was viewed as the individual in our party, in our country, who was focused on fiscal responsibility, and then you saw what happened last week,” Jordan said, referring to the budget.

“So all I’m saying is we need legislation in every policy area that is consistent with that we told them we were going to do and what they elected us to do,” he continued. “That did not happen last week, but I certainly hope it happens on immigration.”
Outside of tax reform, there isn’t one single thing that the Republicans have achieved. They haven’t repealed anything and they haven’t passed anything. They absolutely deserve to have their asses handed to them in the 2018 midterm election. What a wasted opportunity to make a positive difference for this country.

Is it too much to ask for politicians to deliver in what they promised to do? This is a prime example of why we needed the Tea Party so desperately. It is time that we bury the Republican Party for good. True conservatives, libertarians, the Tea Party, etc. need to join the Constitution Party.

Freedom Caucus issues a stern warning to Paul Ryan on immigration – here’s what they said
I felt the same way in 2009 about the democrats and this is even worse.

Don’t forget though trump told obama in a tweet “no matter what you’re responsible”

Well you can’t take that back now can ya?

Well, at least you're admitting that the Repug Party is utterly worthless. I'll give you credit for that.

However, the Tea Party is the current Repug Party. The Repug Party has moved so far to the right that it's impossible for them to get the vast majority of their agenda passed through Congress. There are still 20 - 30 Repubs in the House that are not total bat-shit crazy like 90% of the party is, so that is why the Tea Party/Repug Party has not had much legislative success.
The irony cannot be any greater.

Democrats take the left most position on immigration, abortion and guns, Republicans respond by keeping their centrist positions on all these things, and dipshits like you insist that Republicans "moved to the right".

It is too bad most Republicans don't understand the political spectrum to take advantage of your laughably stupid ideas about it.

Yeah, you fuckers are perfectly reasonable...which is why you voted to repeal ObamaCare over 50 fucking times and then failed yet again after your racist mentally ill hero moved into the White House. Yeah, you fuckers are reasonable...which is why you think any gun control laws are taking away your god damn, self-absorbed right to bear arms.

You fuckers are dangerous extremists that have moved MUCH farther to the right, that's irrefutable. You crazy fucks are the only political party on the fucking PLANET that denies global warming is occurring. You have an EPA director currently doing everything he can to destroy the institution that he has been charged with running. I guess you demented fucks don't even care about having a livable planet for your own fucking children.

You Repugs are a bunch of racists, that's irrefutable. You also don't believe in democracy. You pass new voter suppression laws every year to prevent minorities from voting and gerrymander districts beyond all fucking recognition so that you can steal more elections in the future. You traitor fucks are going to let Russia interfere in the 2018 election because it will benefit your party.

Yeah, you crazy evil fucks have moved so far to the right that you are now members of a cult devoted to one sick, deranged man. Your political beliefs change from day to day based on what Dear Leader Trump says from day to day.
Every single country that had "gun control" laws now has an effective gun ban that is endlessly touted by both the countries that implemented them AND the Democrats. You retards have already admitted numerous times that you want to confiscate all guns. You can't get any further to the left on guns if you wanted to tomorrow.

Every single country that had all private healthcare now has no private healthcare, and once again you dipshits have touted that completely socialist system as something to be admired. You can't get any more left wing on healthcare.

You idiots don't know shit about the climate and you only use this issue to win elections in dumbass states like California. Every single global warming prophet is nothing but a crook with a bigger carbon footprint than a small country. You are to the left of many European countries on this issue, and they started it.

You Democrats are led by the nose by every single anti-white group in the world. YOU are the racists because you pieces of shit won't even renounce Farrakhan out of fear of losing millions of votes. YOU are the ones who created all black districts to appease the Farrakhan loons.

Personally I will use anyone and anything to destroy you fucks, but Republicans are yet too stupid to understand that you don't deserve to be heard and only deserve annihilation.

If all Republicans were like me, there wouldn't be a Democratic party.

Of course there would be no Democratic Party if it were up to a worthless Repug fuck like you. You're an evil, mentally disturbed racist piece of shit. You've essentially confirmed everything that I wrote with your mentally ill Repug tirade.

Yes, dumb fuck -- "socialist" health care is a good thing. I wish that's what we actually had. Repugs voted over 50 times to repeal a system that the private health care industry enthusiastically supports, you fucking dolt. You're too fucking stupid to understand that ObamaCare was originally a Republican idea that came from the Heritage Foundation and Mitt Romney in Massachusetts.

Global warming is real, despite what Repug idiots like you think. Every political party on the planet believes it's happening, except for you stupid fucks. We're not anti-white, we're anti-racist. Which means were anti-you and your worthless hero Trump.

Sadly, most Repugs in Washington think like you and that is why I'm correct when I state the Repug Party has moved much farther to the right, because they have given legitimacy to evil, worthless little unsophisticated Repug fucks such as yourself.

It's a system that We The People are allowing to continue. What I don't understand is why we don't see this.
.

We need to radically reform the system. An obvious solution is term limits, but I also think that extending terms to 6 years for all branches would be a good idea. Voters are fickle and impatient, but I think 6 years is long enough for policy changes to start taking effect so the vote can be more informed.

Why cant we control the deficit by reining in spending instead? Stop the foreign wars, be smarter about handout programs. Punish political operatives who get rich at the taxpayer's expense.

Yep. I'd like to see term limits and publicly-funded elections (which may be beyond what you'd like to see).

This continues until we make it change. We're just bending over and taking it right now.

if you go into gov and come out worth twice as much - instant investigation as to why. :) not instant evil/wrong, but take a look and make sure. let them know it will be examined and that may help make better decisions while in office.

That mental midget Maxine Waters has gotten filthy rich while in office. She should be led away in chains and her wealth donated to charity.

i'd "pay per view" to see that.

Because most people don't pay attention to politics. We here are political junkies. We come here because politics is on our mind and the most important thing for many of us. It's the future of this country.

Yes, people will gloss over articles and perhaps read the headlines, but that's the extent of it. Maybe they will watch some of the Presidential debates.

If most people gained a huge interest in politics, I mean really dedicated half the time we do towards it. That would make a huge change in our politics today.

I can't even imagine what a difference that would make.

Frankly, I don't WANT to imagine it.

Gun confiscation with no due process? Amnesty for 2 million instead of deportation? And then Obamacare. Before Trump was elected and was promising to repeal Obamacare there was no fine for those below poverty level, but with big dons tax “reform”. We poor folks get to pay the fines now. Yeah, Drumpster is on a roll. Can’t wait to see what he does after the election when he has more freedom.

The reason they get away with the things they do is because most people are not paying attention, that's why.

You can campaign all you like, but if the minds of the people are already made up because of something you did, all the money in the world won't fix it.

Um, we already have term limits. They are called "Elections".

Voters are fickle and impatient, but I think 6 years is long enough for policy changes to start taking effect so the vote can be more informed.

Well, no, it just means you have to wait six years to fix a mistake.

Yep. I'd like to see term limits and publicly-funded elections (which may be beyond what you'd like to see).

Yup. Welfare for politicians.

So let's look at this brilliant Mac idea. Both parties have rejected federal funding for president for the last two election cycles? Why, they limit their ability to actually run a nation-wide campaign.

Meanwhile, the third party shitballs all had a goal. To hit a whopping 5% so they will GET federal funding. Not to win, just to get Welfare for Politicians. And if the Greens gave us both Bush and Trump, and they still don't get their welfare check, you know it doesn't work.

So what you will end up with if you extend this to Congress and the Senate and governor and dog catcher? Shit, i might run for office, if there's a paycheck involved.

This continues until we make it change. We're just bending over and taking it right now.

Um.. no. WE ARE THE PROBLEM.

We are like a junkie who bitches about his pusher. We want the government to do all these things for us, and we don't want to pay for it. It's really that simple.

And when the Trump Tantrum is over, we'll go back to these two parties giving us more of the same.

Voters are stupid and have very short attention spans, in case you haven't noticed. And like mac said, politicians are too consumed with fundraising for the next election, they become beholden to special interest groups with lots of money. Why not have more time between elections? Couldn't hurt...

Here is some real election reform.

1) Shorten the Cycle- Primaries in September, Conventions in October, Election in November. Done.

2) Equal time- Every politician should get equal access to espouse his positions.

3) Get rid of donation limits direct to campaigns. The problem with all the Dark Money is that the politicians don't control their own messages anymore.

Mac says a lot of stupid things. The reality is, they are just as involved in fundraising with 6 year terms as 2 year terms.

If voters are stupid, maybe we should forgo elections. Instead of electing a house of Representatives, take one random citizen from each district and make him the representative.
