LOL, most independents are just embaressed Republicans.

I loved the jump of independent registrations from about 2006 to 2008.

the rest claimed to be libertarians.
But still think we should be the police force of the world.

I was one of those that jumped ship, but it was BECAUSE the Republicans think we should be the police force of the world which included striping the constitutional rights of Americans along the way.

Immie

And yet NOT a SINGLE Constitutional right of any American has been stripped and your buddies the Democrats keep re approving the EXACT same laws the Republicans ( with democratic help) passed. Go figure.

That's right... my buddies.

I doubt I have voted for a Democrat for president since you were released from your service to our country. In fact, I doubt I have voted for more than a handful of Democrats for any office since that time.

And yes, Constitutional rights have been stripped from Americans whether or not anyone has yet been prosecuted.

Ive been here long enough and Im still trying to figure out which way USMB leans. Or does it float this way and that? So....which party are you? Or none of the above (independent)?
And again..nobody can see how you vote, nor do you need to explain why.

I will state upfront I am independent. Ill vote Repub or Dem. Whomever I feel will do the best job gets my vote.

Would you name a few Democrats you have voted for?

I am a Republican and I have voted for Democrats. A Senator from Washington State when I lived there and the local Sheriff of where I live now.

There you have it, their your buddies not mine.

Immie

Yeah, not a member of any party until I find one that is pro guns, social security, choice, porn, gay marriage, military, right to die and pollution controlls while being anti states rights and out of my personal business.

You're a little mixed up, aren't you, old sport?

both parties are now controlled by big corporate money.

Think we can afford to be? Israel sure won't help.

I'm a registered Democrat, for business purposes (also, where I live, the Democratic primaries are the elections that matter).

I work for a third party though.

Jesus was never a community organizer, but He did kick some Jewish ass.

Anti States rights? So you support our Right to bear arms, but not our states rights? How do you plan to keep those arms with an all powerful Fed?

lol

How do YOU plan to keep them with an all powerful STATE government?

ARe you really simple-minded enough to think that fascism only exists in the FEDERAL LEVEL?

Apparently you are.
Well, how about explaining to us why you oppose states' rights.

Retard post of the day.

No, he makes a valid point.

I believe in a huge amount of personal freedom - completely social libertarian, pretty much an anarchist. Why should I accept laws from "states" that I wouldn't accept from the federal government?

It is easier to move to another state than to another country. The closer to home politics are, the better.

At the risk of sounding too much like John Kerry, I was a Democrat before I was a Republican before I was an Independant.

Both of the major parties have planks in their official platforms specifically designed to annoy or deprive rights from certain selected minorities. I am against all of these so it's hard to pick the group of bigoted a-holes to align with on these.

Both of the major parties also like to spend huge amounts of cash on incredibly stupid things. I am also against these so it's hard to pick the group of free spending morons to align with on these.

Both of the major parties decry the influence of big money in politics, usually when the other party has more money, and both would, as parties and individuals, pair their daughters with donkeys to get campaign cash. Until there is some kind of restraint in this whoring, I'll stay away from both.

Both of the major parties are owned completely and without excuse by their keepers at the expense of the rest of us. 'Nuff said.

To say that our politicians are dirty and corrupt is to state the obvious. The only thing they know how to do is bribe and accept bribe money. Every one of them is a whore and both of their parties are criminal organizations designed and maintained to steal from the taxpayers.

Outside of these few complaints, though, I'm sure they are fine fellows and I wish them well in their lives after they retire from the deciet and theft which marks them and their parties in their current pursuits.

There is a cool 'Mavericky' movement from the traditional Republican Party which has a good number of anti liberals considering themselves independents. Not a bad thing at all. While I cant figure out a way to outlaw them or even create a three party system, entrenched political parties make me nervous.

Back to the topic of states rights.

In my life it has been local and state governments taking away rights. First you can not own a parts car. Then I can't fire my gun. Then its a dry county. Then you must have bisque color siding on your house. Then some official religion's creation theory is taught in class.

And such couldn't happen at the federal level? Ahahahahahahaha!!!

A hundred years ago during a frenzy of big government prohibition took effect then it got overturned.

That was more like 82 years ago.

Besides that it has been article after article of folks sueing (sic, "suing") states and municipalities in larger courts to get their rights back.

Oh, I'd say independents comprise about 50% embarrassed Republicans, 50% embarrassed Democrats. Unfortunately, people still vote along Party lines which is sad. I will say that at least with Democrats you usually know what you're getting. Republicans, not so much. And as you've stated correctly, you cannot be a libertarian and believe the US should police the world.

Exactly. The discussions here are the most partisan and lockstep I experience anywhere, yet 76% of the board is 'Independent?' ......:rofl:

Liberals on this board routinely make 2 claims..... One is they are Moderates and the other is they are Independents. We have numerous threads going back years calling them out on their claims.

That's due to their proclivities for lying.

And those that take the opposite view?

I consider myself an Independant, but I vote for a variety of parties and candidates for various reasons. These people that I vote for, I don't care if they ever get elected, I want to be able to leave the voting booth knowing I voted my beliefs and conscious (sic, "conscience"). I would be more curious to see who is a conservative, liberal, or moderate because those are beliefs and not just voting catagories (sic, "categories").
