I'm not sure how my state works, but if I have to register as one of the parties to vote, I will register as a Democrat.
However, I am no where near beholden to either party. If it's between a corporate funded DINO, or a self-funded Republican who has some values, I will vote for the Republican (if that scenario ever was to occur). And I am always willing to call out Democrats for their hypocrisy and lack of back bone, Just as well as Republicans.
My main issue would be campaign finance reform. If there was a Republican running, who I knew supported real changes to campaign finance laws (for the better), he/she would get my vote. Same goes for a Democrat. Nothing will ever change with U.S. politicians being shills for corporate America, until Citizens United is overturned, and even stricter laws on campaign finance are enacted.
