Rep. Ken Buck Calls for Investigation into 'Exploitation of Children' in Letter to DOJ

That is just dumb, to imply child porn is part of any mainstream political movement.

So you missed the part about California wanting to have sex with minors?
Nope. But that is a bit misrepresented.
A bit misrepresented? Are you kidding? And Kilauea is a bit warm...

Oh, did I mention that Bill Ayers served on the Annenberg board?
wake the hell up...

Tell me why this one movie is being singled out when the sexualization of kids is all over American society. It seems like these politicians are sending out these letters as a political ploy. Apparently Netflix did something to piss off right-wingers. You write of someone trying to "normalize pedophilia," but I don't see anyone actually doing this except for the situations that I mentioned in my previous posts. Moreover, posters are writing about this as if it is an American film, but it is from France, so this hew and cry for an "investigation" under our laws is largely moot.

I think that this Ken Buck and his cronies are using their offices to try and advance a political agenda, possibly because the Obamas now have a contractual relationship with Netflix. It's not that they care about kids. I haven't seen the film so I can't speak to whether or not it involves kiddie porn or actually is a protest of the sexual exploitation of children.

I notice that you right-wingers always want to limit discussion to a very specific narrow issue and eschew discussing context. Context if very important.
Because of it's sexual content.

There is no way you don't understand this.

There is a reason you are defending this.

I'm not "defending" anything. I'm just saying that I believe that this whole brouhaha over one foreign movie is politically motivated and not a serious attempt to stop the sexualization of children wherever this problem surfaces, regardless of circumstances.

I found this article, which seems to be an intelligent discussion of what is going on with this "controversy."

How Cuties, a French movie on Netflix, became part of America’s culture war

Unfortunately, the right-wingers in this country try to generate hysteria by taking a snippet of something and stripping it of context. This is a bad reputation to have.

The request of Buck and Briggs for the DOJ to conduct an "investigation to ensure the film and its production uphold federal laws protecting children from exploitation" raises a question of whether either of them were even aware when they published this letter that the film was produced outside of the United States. It would be interesting to find out whether either or both actually had seen the film.
You are defending this.

And, multiple lawmakers disagree with your position on this show.

So what if "multiple" politicians disagree with me? There are a lot of right-wing monkeys in legislatures nowadays. They don't have much credibility. They will swallow any conspiracy theory and unsubstantiated allegation that come along. I don't think that these bozos even knew that the film was foreign. They just march in lockstep.

Oh brother.

Qanon and FB are not good sources for news or accurate information.

Beauty pageants are not the subject of the thread, this one is about Netflix's overt peddling of smut that sexually objectifies little girls (and there is no two ways about the intended purpose behind that movie--it was unequivocally intended as sexual objectification of those adolescent girls). Speaking as a father of a young girl, I find that movie and the people behind its production to be downright disgusting.
Ask yourself what the motive would be for these Leftist to derail this thread.

Kind of all revealing, isn't it?

So...you are STILL going on about leftists and derailment. That begs the question. What is your motive for this thread? I thought it was the sexualization of young girls such as you say is in Cuties.

You know what I wonder? What kind of person COUNTS "crotch shots" of kids in a movie.
You continue to defend this.

It is obvious to all what you are doing.

Nothing is being defended dude.

Just peculiar how you think sexualizing young girls in pageants isn't worthy of investigation.

Right-wing monkeys like Tulsi Gabbard?

She also called it child pornography.

I wonder if you guys know just how foolish you look for going to such extremes to defend this child pornography.

Allow me to quote you in comment #27

Good grief. They aren’t pedophiles. Have you actually seen it? I haven’t. But I did look it up, and it is nothing compared to the ramped up sexuality of pageants.

But hey, who am I to ruin your QAnon delusions. :dunno:

Yes Coyote.

You are defending them.

Just peculiar how you think sexualizing young girls in pageants isn't worthy of investigation.
I never said pageants shouldn't be investigated.

Now you are just straight up LYING.

It's more than obvious what you are doing here.

I suspect that none of these whiners have watched the film. That is usually the case with these dickheads.

It is telling that they dont want to discuss the issue in any context other than a film that they havent seen. A perfect metaphor for fake right wing outrage.

Hypocrisy on a biblical scale.
Did you watch it.

Are you supporting this softcore kiddie porn?

Is that what you are saying?

C'mon Man ....

Clarify this for all of us.
I havent seen it you little gobshite. Neither have you.
Yet you ignore what lawmakers are saying about it and defend it anyway.

Leftist ....

Go Figure.
You are insane. How can I comment on something I havent seen ?
And you want me to take the likes of Ted Cruz as a moral guide ? What does Jerry Falwell say about it ?
There are plenty of news stories out there for one to make an informed opinion about this Netflix show.

You simply are choosing not to.

I find that position disturbing.
But you loons tell me the media are all criminals peddling fake news ? Why should I base my opinions on fake news ?

I think the bigger question here would be why you are having such a difficult time condemning this child pornography.

Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., sent a letter to the Department of Justice on Monday raising concerns about Netflix's new film "Cuties," which follows a group of scantily dressed young girls who do sexualized dances as a form of social rebellion.

Buck and fellow GOP Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., called for an investigation into the movie to make certain all federal laws regarding the exploitation of minors were followed in full.

"We write expressing our concerns regarding the potential exploitation of children in Netflix’s recently released film, Cuties," Buck and Biggs wrote. "We join our Congressional colleagues in urging the Department of Justice (DOJ) to open an investigation to ensure the film and its production uphold federal laws protecting children from exploitation."

So the list of lawmakers calling for the DOJ to investigate Netflix is growing.

Last Friday we had Sen. Ted Cruz in a letter to AG Bill Barr urged the Department of Justice to investigate whether the film violates child pornography laws.

Republican Sen. Tom Cotton wrote on Twitter, calling the show "criminal" and urged the DOJ to take "swift action".

Indiana Republican Rep. Jim Banks, on Twitter, has also called for the DOJ to bring child porn charges against Netflix.

Even Tulsi Gabbard chimed in on Twitter calling it child pornography.

Today we have Rep. Ken Buck and Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz. joining the fight to defend children from the Left's attempts to normalize pedophilia by sending a Letter to the DOJ and demanding an Investigation.

Rep. Ken Buck and Rep. Biggs are also requesting an investigation into those involved in the film’s casting and production to ensure these children were not exploited behind the scenes.

Let's hope that the DOJ takes these pedophiles out and drives a stake in the heart of the Left's agenda to normalize pedophilia.

Netflix opted to promote this movie in the most lurid and sexualized manner possible. None of the people who are opposing this movie have actually SEEN it. It is not the movie that Netflix has portrayed it to be in the trailer or the posters. Netflix has already apologized for its choices in promoting a movie which is the OPPOSITE child pornography.

You cannot form an opinion on this movie based on the sensationalized reporting by people who HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE. Those who have SEEN THE MOVIE AND NOT JUST THE REPORTING say that it is a strong voice against child exploitation that every parent should see.

This is a movie which is critical of sexualizing young girls. It is not "soft core porn" as you have claimed.

without actually viewing the movie.

There is no plot that would ever justify the sexual exploitation of children.

No amount of excuses you guys make for this child pornography, will justify it.

There is a reason multiple lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are calling this child pornography and calling for multiple investigations.

You go right ahead and keep defending what lawmakers are calling child pornography.

Meanwhile back in the real world I am going to be paying attention to these DOJ investigations.

You're simply an idiot.
The film is commentary on why there should be no sexualization of children.

So they make a film sexually exploiting children to show why they shouldn't be sexually exploiting children.

LMAO @ the Stupid Shit you Leftist believe.

It's shocking the lengths you Leftist will go to defend child pornography.
