Rand Paul: We Should Let Dems Raise Taxes And Then Let Them Own It

Nope. I'm just a 100% sure I never claimed it would.

Right. The point is, your plan has no teeth if you are unable to convince lawmakers to embrace such wonderful, cost saving ideas. The Mack Penny plan accounts for this oversight with automatic across-the-board cuts.

I claim the Mack Penny plan will balance the budget. You expressed doubt and when asked for your plan, you offer something you admit won't balance the budget. Would you like to try again...or are you just against balancing the budget? If that's the case, you could have saved us all time.

That seems a popular sentiment: Fuckit; probably won't get us to balance, so let's just keep funding the shit. Fucking brilliant.

Ever consider running for Congress? You'd fit right in!!!

No, I'm saying let's STOP funding all this "shit". Mack Penny, IMO, is the best shot we have at doing just that.

You have yet to demonstrate how that is not possible nor have you offered an alternative to balance the budget. Want to try again?

President Obama called for an end to the FFEL program

Sure; and thus it was folded into Obamacare, which is lame, at best.

But as for Obama's comments on the merits of FFEL, that there'd be lying ass shit from, in that instance, a sucker of Satan's cock, IMO.

But it helps me cope when dumbfuck Righties call Obama the most socialist prez we're ever had. Nothing like rolling on the floor laughing to get over being pissed about shit.

Ya feel me?

Not really. I made so such comments. And I'm not a "Rightie".

Anyway, can we get back on topic?

You are compared to me. Way the fuck out there, even.

Sure; pick one. I'm happy to play along, as long as it's not beating a dead horse to a liquid going over feel-good nonsense I've already bitch-slapped.

Okie doke?

I disagree you've 'bitch-slapped' anything. You've failed to demonstrate why Mack Penny would not work. Calling it "feel good nonsense" is not articulating a reasoned retort, it's avoidance. Additionally, you've failed to offer an alternative that achieves the goal of a balanced budget. Your own words there.

So, I remain open to discussion, if you are. I argue it would be a more pleasurable experience for both of us if you stopped with the childish insults. You'll notice I never stooped to that level.

Atta boy!!! That's telling me, bygolly.

And I think I'm seeing clearly now: Of course it'll work. Just pass the fucker, and shut down Congress so they don't override it as they have all the feel-good horseshit previous.

That's the ticket. Finally!!! Meeting a goal without goal steps to get there works like a charm.

Why didn't we think of it sooner, and where do elephants go to die? Pure fucking mystery.

Now then, sing after me:

I can see clearly now the brain is gone. Lala lalal la ...

Again with the schoolyard taunts. Sad really.

Congress cannot override a law like Mack Penny. They'd have to repeal it.

Seems strange to me that you'd stand against a plan because you think it's not strong enough in it's ability to balance the budget...while offering an alternative plan that does not balance the budget. Very strange.

Anyway, why not pass it and see who's right? If you're really interested in balancing the budget, what can it hurt?

Meeting a goal without goal steps to get there works like a charm.

We already addressed the point. Mack Penny provides the steps necessary to obtain the goal by mandating across-the-board cuts if Congress can agree on the cuts they'd like. Those are the steps to a balanced budget.

Why didn't we think of it sooner, and where do elephants go to die? Pure fucking mystery.

On topic?

Gotcha. And no way they'd do that (repeal) if it got in the way of funding shit that voters would BBQ them next election if they failed to do so. Yeah?

Of course there is no law that cannot be repeal, despite the extremely low frequency with which that occurs. Repealing a law is not easy. I argue that does not mean we shouldn't try to pass a good law.

Bottom line, I have yet to learn of a plan to a balanced budget that offers more assurance of success, however tenuous that assurance may be, than the Make Penny Plan. If one exists, I'm interested in learning more about it.

If you're right, and we pass Mack Penny only to have a future Congress repeal it and continue the spending, at least we can say we've given it our best shot. That, and even a year or two of reduced spending would be better than the path we're currently on.

And perhaps this will help, eflatminor, since it's not always framed in this way in civics class, but is nonetheless true:

A body that creates laws is not governed by them, unless they choose to be. It's what makes Amendments the true law of the land, since Congress alone does not create nor destroy them.

And believe me, they're loathe to actually have limits on spending appropriations. Even Ron Paul has shit he cares about and won't hesitate to vote to repeal limits, should not doing so put programs he cares about at risk of underfunding.

And it's not only mute, in effect, it oversteps. Why have a Congress, if we tie its hands? Put it in the Con and dissolve our Legislative Branch, if shit like Mack Penny is needed.

Are you seeing?

I'd be quite happy to have Mack Penny passed as an Amendment to the Constitution. That said, if Mack Penny passes as a regular law, I cannot state with certainty that a future corrupt Congress might try to ignore the law. Lord knows the office of President does that all the time. Mack Penny may not turn out to be perfect, I can't know the future, but I have yet to hear a better plan that gives us a realistic shot at balancing the budget.

And believe me, they're loathe to actually have limits on spending appropriations.

Agreed, which is why I think our best shot is to force it on them with a law that contains automatic, across-the-board cuts. And as you've pointed out...hope for the best.

And it's not only mute, in effect, it oversteps. Why have a Congress, if we tie its hands?

I don't see Mack Penny being unconstitutional. We'd still need a Congress to debate how the money we are going to spend gets spent. Again, it's only if they can't agree that the cuts and ultimately, cap, kicks in. I don't see Mack Penny as tying Congresses hands. They still hold the purse strings, the People would just be ensuring it's not an unlimited purse.

Put it in the Con and dissolve our Legislative Branch, if shit like Mack Penny is needed.

I do not believe such extreme steps would be necessary, or constitutional.

Again, I'd love to hear a viable alternative.

It's folly. We've been hoping for the best since we invented the vote. It's meaningless drivel, used to play on ignorance and get us all excited that something is being done when it's not. Pure and simple, for example:

Ron Paul goes home to campaign, and tells voters his sad story about how he went against ever fiber of his being to protect women and children from Mexican Drug Cartels running wild through our gradeschools. The fence protecting us was at risk, and 'I did what I promised God, you and myself I'd never do, but had to, because those assholes spending your precious tax dollars foolishly (and saying essentially the same bullshit excuse to their constituents) left me no choice!!!'

Then voters in Ron's district cannot get to church fast enough to thank God for sending them Ron Paul to prevent foolish spending.

Get real, as in remove the hook from your mouth, even if it hurts doing so.

You're right nothing has yet been done but then, nothing like Mack Penny has ever been tried. You can call it drivel and folly, but I not share your pessimism, nor have you pointed to an better alternative. I say we give Mack Penny a try.

Obviously, you disagree. Fine. Until I see a better alternative, I don't see the point in continuing the discussion. Please, have the last word.

All the best.

Yes!!!!! It has!!!!!

What in the fuck is debt limit, which doesn't limit shit?

Hmmmm?

They're playing you for a fool, and it's working like magic. Fact. Not opinion.

See post 109. We discussed this.
