Question for rtwng

Propose that the agenda is to find a solution, put all fighting aside, and who wants to help?

On whatever level is possible. Start with this board.

Did you see the recruitment poster I put on the war thread? It takes more than one side to call a truce, especially if that side was the victim.

1. Individual rights as opposed to theoretical group rights.
2. Free markets as opposed to overregulated or nonexistant markets
3. Self reliance and accepting the consequences of our actions, instead of blaming others, or the world, or whitey
4. Using America's military to protect the expansion of these values around the globe, with the recognition that tyrants will try to get us if they can, and that tyrants cannot be trusted, and that mere "containment" is untenable in the nuclear/biochem era.

If you're a socialist, find the capitalist inside you, admit that you really would just like to own a big speedboat and spend Saturday on the lake, rather than at a peace rally. If you're a capitalist, find the socialist within, and admit that it really would be more fun on the lake if your friends at the peace rally were at the lake instead.
It's not very hard.

Start from within.

What do you mean? In order to converse, we need to understand what you are talking about.

Broad discussion is good, but you are being cryptic.

Friends of mine don't go to AntiAmerican rallies.

I'd like to have piles of money, though I chose the wrong profession. Nevertheless, IF I could have piles of money, I would still teach. I would also have great vacations, meet with friends throughout the world, and drive a new convertible. :p:

CC, when people disagree on the solutions to the issues, then we have politics. I would love it if everybody just got along. But different people have different ideologies, and some of them are mutually exclusive. What you call fighting, I call a debate about the issues and how to a) solve the problem, and b) convince others that my solution is the correct one.

I mean what makes a person a capitalist or a socialist? Nature and Nurture. You can't help it. Whatever path life takes you on will mean one shows up more than the other. But everyone has the ability to put oneself in the other person's shoes.

Once people start listening to the other side, and forget about what failed ideologies are holding us back, we'll start to see real progress.

gopjeff, it's not a solution if it isn't already in place. It's an idea. A solution fits the needs of both sides.

How do you explain then the rate of immigration into the US from former communist and socialist countries?

like rtwng said, humans can't make communism work. But computers with programs written in full disclosure, can. Maybe. I don't know enough about the rest of politics to say for sure.

Just be socialist enough to start everyone in the world out on the right path, and let capitalism take over from there.

No. we should remember what failed, not forget it. There is no improvement if we forget what failed and keep trying it over and over. Are you on something?

without assimilating other cultures

Other cultures WANT what we have. They LIKE modernity. Their tyrannical leaders and our libs deny it, but it's true.
