K-pop star PSY once advocated ‘slowly and painfully’ killing US soldiers | TwitchyHe has the most-watched YouTube video ever (more than 900 million views), and is set to perform at the White House later this month.
Eight years ago, however, the Gangnam Style K-pop singer advocated the murder and torture of US military personnel and their family members.
HAPS, an English-language Korean magazine, says news of PSYs anti-American views have long been known in Korea, but only recently surfaced in the US.
The lyrics of the anti-US song performed live by PSY and several other popular Korean singers in 2004 (shortly after the US invaded Iraq) were first translated into English two months ago on CNNs iReport:

As a proud South Korean who was educated in the United States and lived there for a very significant part of my life, I understand the sacrifices American servicemen and women have made to protect freedom and democracy in my country and around the world. The song – from eight years ago – was part of a deeply emotional reaction to the war in Iraq and the killing of two innocent Korean civilians that was part of the overall antiwar sentiment shared by others around the world at that time. While I’m grateful for the freedom to express one’s self I’ve learned there are limits to what language is appropriate and I’m deeply sorry for how these lyrics could be interpreted. I will forever be sorry for any pain I have caused anyone by those words.

Two years later he joined a performance of a song where he used controversial expletive-laden lyrics calling for the killing of Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives. Psy performed the lyrics at a concert after a South Korean evangelist was beheaded by Islamist militants in Iraq during the US-led conflict, after Seoul rejected their demand to halt a troop deployment to the country. I will forever be sorry for any pain I have caused by those words, the 34-year-old singer said in a statement.

Psys Gangnam Style has become the most-watched video of all time on YouTube in just five months, garnering almost 906 million views. The video has inspired thousands of online imitations of Psys famous horse-ride dance, and flash mobs of tens of thousands in Paris, Rome and Milan.
