Munhall priest convicted of 1 felony, 5 misdemeanors in sexual abuse case
Here we have a story of an elderly priest accused of a crime many years ago. Vivid story, categorical denial, minimal corroboration, possible confusion about the perp, and definite confusion about the particulars (could not have happened where and when described).
This is a priest with more than half a century of honorable, spotless service, whose life (what's left of it) and reputation are destroyed - in my opinion - by a judge who didn't want to be seen as letting a pedophile get off. [A bad side of having elected judges].
The judge considered damning the fact that this priest had checked records on two occasions to see if his name had come up on any list of pedophiles. Jesus H. Christ, ANY long term priest would do the same! Wouldn't anyone? The judge also ignored the general knowledge that this sort of behavior is not a ONE-TIME thing. Men who do this do it repeatedly. In more than fifty years there is one complaint against him and this judge believes it?
