Pragmatism: Rubio sponsors bill to keep daylight savings time year round

I think Arizona already does this. Anyone in AZ to tell us if it has affected you one way or another?

Az does not change at all, they keep the real time all year around and it is heaven! Same with most of the world. Lived in Japan for more than 5 years and time never changed, which is how it should be

Where in Japan were you?

Okinawa mostly but spent a year off an on on the mainland at Iawkuni.

There 10 years....never went to Okinawa. Always wanted to, though.

FLORIDA — If it makes its way through Congress, a bill filed by U.S. Sen. Marco Rubiocould make Daylight Saving Time permanent for everyone in the United States.

The Orlando Sentinel reports Rubio’s Sunshine Protection Act of 2019 was to be introduced Wednesday. It would make Daylight Saving Time year-round. The newspaper reports that a companion bill was filed in the House by U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan.

If the bill is approved, clocks would be set ahead one hour permanently, giving everyone an extra hour of sunlight in the evening during the winter months.

About damn time too. I don't know why Trump didn't come up with this first. If you want pragmatism all the time, you need to keep Republicans in office.

Just curios as to how many Socialists will be against this; not because it's a bad idea, but simply because a Republican came up with it?

How is Rubio a Senator when Rick Scott is the Senator for FL? How does that work? He's not a state senator, wtf gives? Ohh, he's there til 2022.

He's a junior US Senator for Florida. Not a member of the US Senate in DC.

That's the best thing you've ever said. Your understanding of who's who and what words mean is unparalleled.

Rubio is not the "Junior" any longer. Rick Scott is. They are both US Senators.

Holy shit. The stupid is remarkable from such arrogant know-it-alls.

My mistake. You are correct. When I looked him up I thought he was a State Senator.

Thanks for the info.

Oh and I'm far from a know it all unlike you.

Not a know it all. For example, I only know the name of one of the US Senators from Hawaii. So, I would not give you a name for the other

And I certainly wouldn't deign to correct someone else on that info unless I was 100% certain of my accuracy.

I think the clocks should be moved back 1 hour and then left alone. However I would like to get rid of this moving back and forth constantly.

Well if you move them back then it gets dark earlier. Crappy for working around the yard, picnics and kids wanting to endlessly play. Then in the winter as already stated, it gets dark at 5:00 pm.

I have no problem with that. I hate daylight lasting until 7:30-8PM during the summer. If some guy wants in checkered shorts want to play golf then let them get up a hour earlier. However my main desire is to quite monkeying with the clock.

I find these replies pretty interesting. I assumed that most people thought like me. In another topic I brought up how the government should move our country into a 4-10 hour day instead of a 5-8 hour day so most of us get a three day weekend every weekend. Most people agreed with my suggestion, but I was shocked to learn that a few would be against it.

Just out of curiosity, why do long days bother you?

Going darker later just bothers me. Darkness at 7-8pm is too late. Even if we didn't have daylight savings time, it would get dark around 6-7pm. That seems to be late enough for me.

Actually he is. FL has 2 Republican grafty AF Senators. They both almost come off as good dudes, but I have my skepticism.

Like when Scott was governor: Why the fuck did the state pay millions of dollars to plant POC Palm trees along interstate on/off ramps? You know what the result of that will be? Either they have to be maintained at least annually, or they'll crap fronds that blow right into the road until they're cut down. I think he got a kickback from a tree farmer. And Rubio, I know damn well he's in with the Cuban sugar dudes. Half the sugar industry is crackers, and the other half is Cubans.

Not the party type I take it. Just out of curiosity, do you spend much time outdoors or stay inside most of the time?

I agree, should have been done before now.

I sure wouldn't miss running around the house changing my thermostat, changing my microwave, changing my old alarm clocks, changing my car clock, changing my stove clock.

Lol, yup or wait 6 months and all good again!:113::19:

LOL. I would love more input from people here, but I think it will likely be a short-lived thread. From the few replies I got it seems that it's a pretty divided issue; something I wasn't expecting. What I do find a consensus on is that people are sick of time changes period.

Probably because it is harder to call people morons or stupid, never mind someone already did. Lol, to be serious I would rather be on daylight saving time permanently but if not fine. Just pick one or the other and quit fucking with it.

Yeah. Had the OP kept the dopey partisan slam out of the thread opener, I’d have had no reason to go there. He didn’t have to do that if he wanted a discussion about daylight savings. It was his choice.

Let's see if I have this correct. You come to a political forum and are upset at partisan comments? Furthermore, you read the OP and found something I said offensive, so you joined the discussion?

fuck that, what should happen is that real time should be all year round and the stupid DLT should to the way of the buggy whip.

one of the stupidest ideas yet out of DC. Figures you would support the government fucking around with time even.

They were the ones that fucked with it in the first place. Daylight savings would give us daylight later in the day is all. What is "real time" anyway?

Yes, they did fuck it up in the first place, and your solutoin is to make the fuck up year round vice just part of the year?

Well, since DST is when we move the clock and then move them back when DST is over, real it is anything but DST. Real time is what the rest of the world uses.

Do you have small kids or ever worked shift work that required to you go to bed early in the evening? Sunlight till 9:30 is not a welcome thing for them.

They should get window shades. They work well for me. Usually I take a nap in about an hour and get up around 7:30 or 8:00; later on Friday night.

I never said it would work well for every situation, but I think most Americans would like to see it happen. As for people who go to bed that early, I hope they don't have any children living in the nearby area.

If you want it dark at 6pm, close the fucking blinds.

Maybe I want to enjoy the outside after I get home from work.

It’s gotta be only liberals who wish it would get dark at 4pm every day.

Actually I'm surprised that it really isn't on political lines. Some conservatives are not for it and some liberals are. Again, kind of surprised by the responses here.

anyone that has ever lived for any length of time where they do not do DST is against it.

It’s got be be mostly fat faggots who would not exercise to jerk off their cats who would oppose being able to be outside more.

If you did not sleep till 10am you would not need more sunlight in the evening. Get your lazy ass out of bed in the morning for a change.

Again, if you like your dark, you can keep your dark.

Put on blinders or close your blinds.

fuck, are you really this stupid? DST does not make more light, it does not make the period of darkness shorter.

what a fucking idiot, you thought that DST created more hours of sunlight! I am so embarrassed for you

It doesn't make less light either.

That's not many in this country. If you're talking about people in other countries, how would they know if they liked it or not if they never had time changes?

No, dummy. You don't have it correct. Try again.
