Describe how you would seal the border.

Truck mounted thermal imaging systems slaved to motion sensing radars on towers, hilltops, and aerostats. One team of Border Patrol could cover a hundred miles this way.

We already have the technology.
Cool. What about the coastlines?
Same. In fact, easier. Boats are much easier to detect than people on foot.

Great, now all you need are paved roads, a couple of thousand miles down south and about the same up north. God only knows what you can do about east and west however, and the fact that you are going to have to take from the rightful owners a shitload of their land...

How will they tell the difference between pleasure craft and people trying to get into the country?

We already have Border Patrol vehicles which patrol the entire border. And they use off road vehicles. So you have no idea what you are talking about.

The tools I mentioned would simply fill in the gaps caused by Border Patrol's lack of manpower to cover it all at once.

Let us contemplate what to do about the illegals later. Is there anyone on here who believes the borders should not be closed by any reasonable means necessary?
Define said means, and include the slight problem that much of that land is privately owned.

Well, the fence was funded, and as far as I know no land owners complained. But, there are more than one way to skin a cat.

I would point out to most everyone on here that the feds own 1/3 of the land mass in this country. Most of that land is in the Southwest. If it was a home owner problem, then you back the fence up to the 1st state or federal land available. Watch how fast the land owners change their minds.

Just as an aside, was anyone aware that in the state of Nevada, the feds and state own significantly more land than private owners? Look it up! And in fact, it is almost a 50-50 split in AZ.

You might to look like up what kind of roads they drive on, and how many miles they have no roads at all. The border is not what you think, and the US government doesn't own much of it.

Wow. It's like you are completely unaware of the existence of 4WD vehicles which can and do go off road!

As for not owning much of it, this is where aerostats come in. They can see a long, long way.

That's the problem, you don't know, and the southern border is 1,950 miles long only 700 miles of which is fenced. The rest doesn't have so much as tee marker on it.

Within reason they can, but as I said, the border is not what you think it is.

Bull, nobody said the fence ad to be square on the border. We can cede land they can tent on of even 70 mls if necessary. All that matters is that the fence is there to stop them. I believe the residents would allow a 4 deep fence with guards moving between, but if not, back it up, so what!

And I am willing to bet a nickel, that since they have funded that fence already, they have a route for it! Nobody funds something they can not build.
