Ok, lefties, now that obama remains in office.....

We are already weak. Everyone sees that. Thats why every other country was rejoicing. Muslim takeover is near. But hey, thats what you wanted, RIGHT?

We aren't weak at all.

In fact, quite the opposite.

We are so powerful we are exporting our vision of the world to other countries. We have 700 bases all over the world. We have and still are putting our notion of what governments should be into other people's countries.

Would you put up with a Chinese base in your backyard? Would you put up with a President and Congress chosen by China?

Simple question.

Yes or No.

NO. We are not weak? Look at Benghazi. Oh yea, it was not a big deal to you. My bad

What part of the US is Benghazi connected to, ace?

Tax policy should be secondary to and consistent with our nations vision and missions. Before an argument is made on tax policy we must first decide on what outcomes we want, their practicality and the time line, measures of success and sustainability.

Do you really think that raising taxes on people who make $250 plus will reduce the deficit?

Let's be honest and stop saying that obama wants to tax "millionaires and billionaires" or "The Super Rich". $250K/years is not a million or a billion or "super". You won so stop the bull shit ok?

You people realize that the percentage of the US that makes over 250k is pretty small right? You realize that our yearly deficit is insanely huge right?

So now that you won, what IS the plan? We are headed for fiscal disaster and obama has no plan? At least none other than a job-killing tax increase.

Or do you just not care? You won and that's all that matters?

It's never just been about tax increases.

Really?? REALLY?? That has been the mantra of the left,. It has been what they have been saing all along. They have been saying that "The Rich have to pay their fair share", "Romney wants to reduce taxes for the rich", and on and on.

It's the Republicans that have had the one-track mind on that.
Because it's 99% of what the left has been saying.

It's a matter of appropriate budget cuts to be hammered out by both sides, reform of the tax code to eliminate some of the more egregious deductions and a modest increase in rates on the highest earners.

Every single GOP candidate from Romney to Donald Trump to Herman Cain has been talking about budget cuts and tax reform, you know who hasn't been talking about it? obama hasn't.

The problem has been Republican intransigence and, if the deficit continues to rise, they have no one but themselves to blame. Fiscal matters start in the House Constitutionally and they control it.

Yes, and anything they start to do must then go to the Senate which the Democrat Party controls, and every single time the House comes up with a budget, it dies in harry Reid's senate. Yet, you want to blame the GOP? That's absurd.

The American people are watching and will be deciding who's really to blame in two years. Don't waste the time with posturing. DO SOMETHING.

Yes, the American People were watching and almost half of them wanted to get rid of obama. but that is beside the point. We all know you won, I'm asking for answers not for blame.

What?

First off..you point out that you wouldn't put up with other countries determining the fate of this country.

Secondly, you expect other people in other countries to put up with us determining their fate.

Why?

Restoring the tax rates to the wildly successful Clinton plan is just common sense.

You go with what works. Pay your fair share has proven to be a massive success, where right wing "give everything to the rich" a massive disaster.

You do realize that Clinton's success was solely due to the Tech boom wich had nothing at all to do with him right?

Obama isn't planning on going back to Clinton's ttax rates, he wants to tax people making more that $250k some more. There are very few of those people and our yearly deficit is insanely huge? How in the world do you think that we can curb that by taxing a very small minority of people a little more?

Now you people are all upset that the President might actually get some minor tax reform passed.

That's beside the point. I'm asking you how you can think that taxing a very small population a little bit more is going to in any way meaningfully affect our insanely huge deficit?

I am a high middle class earner. Just barely crack 100K a year. Nobody making above 250K should pay a smaller percentage of their income in taxes than I do. Definately not if they are making above 1 million. And all income should be taxed at that rate. Earned and unearned.

They don't. They pay more in taxes than you do.

The "tech boom" has got to be the most parroted right wing excuse in history. The "tech boom" continued well into W's presidency and still to this day. The internet was never a bubble, it kept right on expanding.

The main reason for Clinton's massive surplus was his wildly successful tax plan, along with controlled spending. This is what democratic fiscal policies are all about.

Right wing "give everything to the rich" has never worked, EVER! You would have to be mentally ill to support GOP fiscal plans.

Raising taxes on those who make $250,000 and more won't decrease the deficit by in large any more than eliminating the grants for the arts and PBS. Raising taxes on those making $250,000 won't reduce their freedoms any more than eliminating Pell Grants for low income college students.

But a combination of spending cuts which do not eliminate opportunity for the poorest and tax hikes on those who have had every opportunity in American society will reduce the deficit.

What Conservatives need to realize is we can never reduce the deficit by spending cuts alone. We had a surplus before the Bush tax cuts went into effect. Before we fought two wars without raising taxes, yet financed those wars by increasing our foreign debt. Why should the few get the gravy while the many get the axe?

Yes, that will reduce the deficit, but the left isn't willing to make the necessary cuts in spending and taxing a small minority of people a little more won't do anything meaningful.

It's easy for you guys to say "Tax increases and cuts can reduce the deficit" but neither you nor obama actually have a plan for that. You cannot give me specific cuts and you cannot explain how taxing a small minority of people a little more will reduce the deficit.

Why dont we quit with that sharing the wealth BS and tax everyone the same? Cut out the handouts(not all of them. Some people need it). We, as a country, CANNOT afford it!

I'd love to see the Military Budget cut back from 700 Billion to 100 Billion.

That would go a real long way into cutting debt.

The "Fiscal cliff" doesn't do anything close to that dramatic.

And they are calling it a cliff..

We are already weak. Everyone sees that. Thats why every other country was rejoicing. Muslim takeover is near. But hey, thats what you wanted, RIGHT?

How near would you say it is?

You realize that having those high taxes kick in at $250,000 means that it will be impossible to expand beyond that magic number so that there is no way a small business could ever become a big business again.

Yes I do but I'm asking the lefties if they think that this will help the economy.

High taxes? It means an extra $40 on every thousand over $250,000! If the "job creators" had really been doing what was promised when the cuts went into effect, we wouldn't have a problem. What happened? Taxes weren't raised. Health care costs mainly fall on the individual. Where are the jobs?

You don't seem to understand that there just arent enough people who make >$250k to even break even on the budget. I read some where that if you taxed everyone who make >$250K 100% of their income it would only run the government for one month.

That is because they have no plan on making cuts meaningful enough to try and explain. Taxing the rich brings in a projected 800 billion over ten years. Which is probably a high figure considering variables that can not be added tot he equation.

They just want to tax the ich because they are seething, frothy and want to punish someone for the wealth gap the government has created in this country.

Ok, well, thanks for your "input". :cuckoo:

Tax increases contract the economy. That's one of the reasons Greece became Greece. Tax increases was the reason Japan had a lot decade. It's also why Japan reduced their corporate taxes. obama isn't interested in helping the country but in creating the foundation for a permanent majority. Liberals will say anything to get and keep that permanent majority.

Will eliminating PBS balance the budget?

Will eliminating the EPA balance the budget?

Will eliminating the Dept of Education balance the budget?

It's a combination of tax increases as well as spending cuts that will gets us to a balanced budget. Perhaps you should look at the big picture and not the little bubble that you insist on living in. Not once ANYWHERE did anyone suggest that tax increases alone are the solution to all of our fiscal problems. So please stop pretending that's what democrats are advocating. It's that mentality that got the republicans trounced this week. Learn something from your mistakes for once.

More butthurt and rejection of common sense from another person who IS the problem with this country. Your kind is dying off. Good riddance.

So, the plan is to "cut" spending by a trillion dollars over ten years, and to tax an additional 800 billion over that same period, on the rich.

1.3 trillion in annual deficit spends.
100 billion in annual cuts
An additional ~87 billion in new tax revenues
(we havent even accoutned for Obama tax or any other unseen variable)

Leaves us with....still over a trillion in deficit spends.

Lol, there was a tech bubble and it burst. You seem to forget that republicans controled both houses when we had a balanced budget. They dragged clinton kicking and screaming in order to get that done.

Romney didn't win, that is irrelevant. Can you answer the question of how you think that increasing taxes on a small minority of people will help with the insanely large yearly defecit?

Apparently YOU are the one living in a bubble. The democrats have been all about increasing taxes. Just look at the threads in this forum alone. listen to the obama campaign commercials, no where is there any mention of cuts, there is only "asking the rich to pay a little more". Get out of your bubble and really look at what's going on around you.

You're asking them to do math buddy.
