Ok, lefties, now that obama remains in office.....

You do realize that Clinton's success was solely due to the Tech boom wich had nothing at all to do with him right?

Obama isn't planning on going back to Clinton's ttax rates, he wants to tax people making more that $250k some more. There are very few of those people and our yearly deficit is insanely huge? How in the world do you think that we can curb that by taxing a very small minority of people a little more?

The "tech boom" has got to be the most parroted right wing excuse in history. The "tech boom" continued well into W's presidency and still to this day. The internet was never a bubble, it kept right on expanding.

The main reason for Clinton's massive surplus was his wildly successful tax plan, along with controlled spending. This is what democratic fiscal policies are all about.

Right wing "give everything to the rich" has never worked, EVER! You would have to be mentally ill to support GOP fiscal plans.

Ok, well, thanks for your "input". :cuckoo:

What "input" did you want?

History or math doesn't agree with your views.

Tax cuts for the rich..means they get more money. The rich don't invest..they hoard.

They also pay themselves more. So much so..that people who work for them go hungry.

Which is why we have a minimum wage. And social programs.

You don't seem to understand that there just arent enough people who make >$250k to even break even on the budget. I read some where that if you taxed everyone who make >$250K 100% of their income it would only run the government for one month.

Will eliminating PBS balance the budget?

Will eliminating the EPA balance the budget?

Will eliminating the Dept of Education balance the budget?

Romney didn't win, that is irrelevant. Can you answer the question of how you think that increasing taxes on a small minority of people will help with the insanely large yearly defecit?

It's a combination of tax increases as well as spending cuts that will gets us to a balanced budget. Perhaps you should look at the big picture and not the little bubble that you insist on living in. Not once ANYWHERE did anyone suggest that tax increases alone are the solution to all of our fiscal problems. So please stop pretending that's what democrats are advocating. It's that mentality that got the republicans trounced this week. Learn something from your mistakes for once.

Apparently YOU are the one living in a bubble. The democrats have been all about increasing taxes. Just look at the threads in this forum alone. listen to the obama campaign commercials, no where is there any mention of cuts, there is only "asking the rich to pay a little more". Get out of your bubble and really look at what's going on around you.

Link me to a single thread where a liberal said that the way to fix all of our fiscal issues is through tax increases alone and nothing else. When you can't do that, we'll know......again, who is right and grounded in reality and who continues to live in a made up world of absolutes and extremes.

To pay down the country's debts as mandated by the Constitution.

You can't just run around building big expensive weapon systems and starting wars without paying for them.

It's simple math.

Spend.

Pay.

Got it?

We go from arguing the merits of tax increases to flopping around on the deck over tax cuts for the rich.

If the government increases taxes, it is up to every taxpayer to take advantage of every loophole and method of avoidance they can to starve the beast. EVEN if it takes a little sacrifice. This is a war. Part of this war is fought by not spending any money.

Lol, there was a tech bubble and it burst. You seem to forget that republicans controled both houses when we had a balanced budget. They dragged clinton kicking and screaming in order to get that done.

It sure did.

And it didn't drag the whole economy into a tail spin. In fact..it was pretty much over by the time Bush hit office.

He didn't need a stimulus..but he went for it anyway.

Twice.

And created a housing bubble.

That DID drag down the whole economy.

I could do it all day long but you aren't worth the trouble. You can't even se the two threads that say that that are right on the first page as we speak.

Dismissed.

Not the whole answer..no.

There have to be some really deep cuts in Military spending.

We've got to be more efficient in the way government spends on social programs too. I found it really interesting, that when Obama found savings in reducing redunancy, inefficiency and outright fraud in Medicare..and SAVED 750 Million dollars he was criticized for it. Same with removing Student Loans from banks. These were common sense savings.

It's not going to work if you folks continue doing that.

I would also say that SSI needs some fixing as well. The retirement age as to go up as does the contribution into the fund.

But these are things you folks rail against, once done.

And we need to move from this oil/war/bubble economy we've fostered.

It antiquated and amazingly stupid.

So link to them. LOL.

That's right, double down on pathetic. Your ideology is in shambles and you refuse to acknowledge the problem.

Funny how obama didn't campign on "cuts in medicare", or looking at social programs. All you ever heard from obama was that he wants the rich to pay their fair share.

Ok so some of you lefties now admit that there are going to have to be spending cuts.

Just don't hold your breath until obama does any of that.

It's the GOP thugs holding things up. The insane defense spending needs huge cuts, but the GOP trash refuses to touch a dime of it, they actually want to spend even more.

Waaah, "I'm repeatedly shown to be ignorant and wrong so I'm going to cry about it".

Good for you. You're the problem with this country. Please use your brain for once in your life.

Holy fuck, we've been saying that all along. Congrats on finally listening.

And you're right. If Obama doesn't cut spending I'll be disappointed.

Taxes taxes taxes. No new taxes he said... Carbon tax? Next we will be taxed for air. The middle class will soon be dead. And people say he is for the middle class. BAHAHAHA hope everyone enjoys being poor
