During a speech yesterday (Tuesday) in front of cops, firefighters, and EM responders, the President made a stark contrast between his view and the GOP's.

snippet:

“That’s the choice,” Obama said Tuesday while surrounded by first responders, a constituency that neither party wants to be seen as hurting. “Are you willing to see a bunch of first responders lose their job because you want to protect some special interest tax loophole? Are you willing to have teachers laid off, or kids not have access to Head Start, or deeper cuts in student loan programs just because you want to protect a special tax interest loophole that the vast majority of Americans don’t benefit from? That’s the choice. That’s the question.”

But is that really the choice? We're talking $85 billion out of a projected $3.8 trillion budget this year, are we to believe there's no other places to make these cuts that would be less onerous? How come he doesn't say "Gee, I guess we'll have to cut back on the funding for high speed rail, or stop giving taxpayer dollars to those wonderful alternative energy companies that waste our money and go out of business every 5 minutes?

Isn't this out and out scare tactics? Isn't this blatent misinformation, if not an outright distortion? Are you telling me the federal gov't cannot cut a measly 3% of it's budget without the dire consequences such as Obama describes?

What we have here is political posturing with one and only one purpose: when the sequestration cuts go into effect, if the economy goes into another recession or nearly so then Obama will use this as the reason. Won't mention the higher taxes that went into effect on Jan 1, or the new taxes in the ACA, oh no. For all his talk about cutting deficits, he is and always will be a tax and spend liberal. And disingenuous about it to boot.
