New Jersey calling Gov. (George Bush) Christie, who says, "Good job Brownie!"

Gov. Chris Christie finally returned from Walt Disney World on Friday, but he remained in Fantasy Land at a news conference later in the day. He came to Monmouth County, of all places, to praise his administration for its work during the blizzard, giving it an A for effort and a B+ for execution.

Seems Gov. Christie was angry his "dinner" was interrupted. After all, a man has to eat and eat.

His family was vacationing in Disney World. Can't a man have time to do what's important? Besides, he has a Lt. Gov.

Oh, wait, the Lt. Gov. was on vacation too and not even in the state. Oops.

Now we know what happens when Republicans put people in power while screaming "Less Government!". They get "No Government".

And now, their "fiscal" Messiah has handed the next election to whoever runs against him. When leaders mismanage local disasters, people never forget. All they remember is the snow, the trash and people dying. Katrina was easy to forget. It was so far away. In New Jersey, everything is very close by, unless you're "Snowed In".

whilst obie wan basked in the how r us sunshine. tis a pity, he should have his scrawny, can't throw a baseball ass back here talking those unions into line. meanwhile I think New Jersey cleaned up just fine without Gov. Christie. they don't seem to be the same maniacs they breed over in new yawk.

Seems to me if an executive needs to be in place to do something like snow removal, (when snow removal in NJ during the winter is pretty much business as usual) then there's something wrong with the system.

It's not that, though. A Lt. Gov was hired because it happened too often that the Gov was out of state with no one to fill in...now they were both out of town. A bit of mismanagement there, not to mention a waste of taxpayer money for the salary.

But Republicans are allowed to goof off and waste taxpayer money with impunity.

Christie screwed up. He would not have tolerated such performance out of anyone else and he should have manned up and said "We will not let this happen again"

The state roads were a mess. Poorly plowed and impassable for days. Local roads plowed by towns were pretty good. Once you hit the state road you were stuck for hours. Christie cut back on public works and the state suffered. For him to make his "Heckuva job Brownie" speech showed his true character.

There is no way both the Governor and Lt Governor should have been out of state at the same time. After 200 years, NJ finally establishes a Lt Governor position and she is on vacation the same time as the Governor.

Christie showed how he acts in a crisis and it was not pretty

When in doubt..deflect.

This thread is about Christie.

And his administration's effectiveness in actually getting stuff done..with a smaller budget.

You know..the mantra..more with less?

No one from New Jersey made it in to the place where I worked..unless they stayed in a hotel overnight in Manhattan.

That speaks volumes.

Christie is now in the sacred zone of blind wingnut adoration now, so that anything he does will get automatically defended to the death by the usual suspects.

Get used to it.

$1.5m of taxpayers money for the First Family to vacation in Hawaii over Christmas. Just saying.

Which would have nothing to do whatsoever with Governor Christie. Unless of course you're trying to point out the flagrant hypocrisy of all those who have repeatedly attacked Obama for traveling,

but are NOW vigorously DEFENDING Chris Christie's travels...

...was that your point? That those people, who are almost invariably conservatives,

are being flagrantly hypocritical??

lol, not a bad point afterall.

Except that's a lie, and a profoundly retarded one at that.

We rely on that government to keep our roads passable. It was more than just snow days for kids, it was access for emergency vehicles, ability to get to work, shutdown of public transportation.

Yeah but, Ravi, snow removal, even in this case, isn't something a governor typically oversees, is it?

It was a snow storm in DECEMBER IN NEW JERSEY.

That is a fairly common event and the removal of same isn't something the governor needs to micro-manage.

What could his presence in office really have done to help?

What should he have done? Start shoveling?

Because Christie was out of state there was a 10 hr delay in declaring a State of Emergency. Christie had cut public works personnel... so personnel and equipment needed to be repositioned to those areas that were hardest hit.
As in any emergency, people look to see who is in charge and to be reassured that everything possible is being done. All we got was that our Governor was vacationing in Disney World

"All politics are local."

Tipp O'Neil

And the government that performs least is the best government?

Plow the roads, pick up the garbage, teach the children, house the indigent. That's about it for local government. When the Governor wants his life back ala Tony Haywood, there is no government.

This is really dumb. What do you want him to do? Come home for the blizzard and shovel constituents driveways? Unless this guy is on record bemoaning Obama or another national figure for something just as frivolous as this nonsense I don't see how this is anything to get upset over.
