The abortion laws that it struck down in 1973 were largely being ignored, but there was no movement to repeal them. It was only an "Issue" after the Evangelicals (which had previously viewed abortion as a "Catholic" thing) needed something to get asses back into pews after Segregation wasn't playing well anymore.

4) Go after the white people who are hiring illegals. Not just the sweatshop owner and the farmer, but the rich yuppie who can't be bothered to raise their own kids. The nitwit who hires a truckloadof Day Laborers outside the home Depot. They wouldn't be here if they couldn't find work.

For example, just looking at 1). Would the "guest workers" be paid at least minimum wage with the required benefits? Then why would the employers not simply hire Americans? Or why would the employers not simply keep hiring illegals who don't insist on those requirements? Because the very compentent government will "go after" them? The smallest of bribes will keep any employer safe from that, and we are right back were we started from.

So what? Our border with Canada is wide open. If you give then no incentive to come here because their claims to asylum would be quickly rejected and there's no job waiting for them when they get here, the border becomes a non-issue.

Not really. First, most government workers wouldn't take a bribe when they have to catch so many violators a month. Also, the cost of a bribe would be more than what you are saving underpaying people.

Secondly, the mere THREAT of government action would be more than enough to keep them in line. People are terrified of OSHA and the IRS because they can do real damage, so they preemptively spend a lot of money to get it right.

We have 25,000 murders a year in this country... most of them because we can't pass the most common sense gun laws. Most of them are committed by people who are born here. Pass common sense gun laws, treat addiction like a medical issue instead of a criminal one, and you don't have these kinds of problems.

Again, if you think there is insufficient screening, then hire enough agents to do the work. Obviously, if his kid had tats on his face, he'd have been pulled aside. But we aren't going to strip search every person to see who has a tat or not. As for his name, um, how common of a name was it. Was his name "Juan"?

What they had was a minor child, and a relative he could live with until his case was heard. This one turned out to be a bad apple. Staff the agencies sufficiently, and then we can talk.

And frankly, it's... kind of dumb. Creepy animation, not interesting characters, and kind of a fouled up theology. (Essentially, most people are going to hell, and once a year, the Angels come down and kill a bunch of them.)
